Hello
I have a Portege r500 ppr50e-05402ren on which I removed vista and installed winXP.
I installed the video sound, bluetooth, lan, wlan, and the pilots of the sd.
However, I still have an 'unknown device', with an exclaimation mark in the Device Manager.Anyone has any idea what this could be?

Just install everything from the Toshiba page.
But maybe you're talking about the memory controller PCI.
It s Intel Turbo Memory, also called logic chip cache Flash Intel. It's quite new technology designed to support the new features of Vista and XP doesn t have supported. That is why the unknown device in Device Manager -
Portege M100 - no audio output device
I recently acquired a Portege M100 1.2 ghz model no PPM1DE-0000Y-EN. The hard drive had been cleaned, so I installed Windows XP with Service Pack 3. I don't have a utility Toshiba and driver CD.
For the moment, my main problem is that there is no sound and I get messages of "no audio output device. I can watch a DVD but once again his silence as the internal speakers do not work. I am a novice, so if you have any tips please try to not do not technical but in simple terms that I can understand. There are probably a number of questions that I haven't discovered yet IE Power Saver, etc. without wire.
I think you're missing the SOUNDMAX program to render sounds. At least that's what I had with my M200, but apparently M100 and M200 are quite similar. Installed SOUNDMAX SE will solve the problem. The easiest way is probably to get a sort of utility CD.
And it's probably the only one too. Even if make you it work without, you always end up without the other Toshiba Utilities (which can be quite crucial, as power saving, ability to use the buttons and the FN keys, possibility to use the touchpad, etc..).

I just installed Vista on my Portege M400 and installed all the drivers on the driver Vista page.
But I have several questions...1: bluetooth does not work. I can't find anywhere in Control Panel whatever it is on a connection bluetooth or something else.
2: after you have installed all the drivers on the driver Vista page, there is 2 "unknown device" in Device Manager. I can't find any information on what are these devices. However, when I tried to manually install the driver bluetooth on the first of them "Unknown device" he admitted the driver. This does not work on the other. And it does not solve the problem of the bluetooth missing.
3: the tablet itself feature works very well - the pen and everything. But when I turn the screen into tablet mode it does not change the screen layout. Or the buttons on the lower part of the screen to work.
I hope that there is some sort of solution to these problems - and that someone can help me.

Please take the look in installation instructions txt file. You will find a list of all the necessary drivers that must be installed. The order of installation is important.
Please install all drivers as mentioned in the installation instructions.PS: On the page there is also an application of Infineon Trusted Platform Module.

What is with the wireless card Intel? This card is correctly installed? As far as I know, you must install Intel Wireless LAN Card Driver V.1.1.6.0.
Check it!

All the drivers and tools that you need can be downloaded here:

RogerHello
Have you installed all the drivers Toshiba XP which appear on the European driver from Toshiba site?
There is also a training installation document that gives the proper installation order. Please check if all the XP drivers were installed, as mentioned in this doc.
In addition, you should check if you have installed the MS WinXP SP2 and Utility Intel chipset.

Hi all
I've downgraded a R500 from Vista to XP Pro SP2 and installed all drivers from the support page in the correct order, even in the device manager are always 4 unknown devices called 'data Interface '. Their hardware ID is:
USB\VID_0930 & PID_1302 & MI_00\6 & 2EDD84F6 & 0 & 0000
USB\VID_0930 & PID_1302 & MI_01\6 & 2EDD84F6 & 0 & 0001
USB\VID_0930 & PID_1302 & MI_02\6 & 2EDD84F6 & 0 & 0002
USB\VID_0930 & PID_1302 & MI_03\6 & 2EDD84F6 & 0 & 0003All 3 USB ports operate normally and at full speed, the Interface of data got to be something else.
Thanks in advance for any advice or help
Hello
These are the modem and the features of com of your compilation in the 3G module.
Unfortunately the drivers are not available on the European download page now.
I guess it will take a few days until that pilots will be released.

No WiFi after installation of XP SP3 on Portege M100
I have a used protégé M100, on which I recently did a clean install of Windows XP Pro (SP3).
Unfortunately, as a novice, I didn't save my drivers.I've been on the Toshiba site and that you have downloaded everything for this model (M100 protégé Centrino), I printed the "content and the order of installation for windows XP" and load all the drivers at best in the suggested order.
However, some items were not available to download, or I did not understand the references.
I downloaded and installed the Atheros client utility and the customer, as well as Configfree utility aironet Cisco, but could find nothing to match the description "wireless driver".
Perhaps because of this, or not? customer utilities above and ConfigFree (connection doctor) as well as some other diagnostic software downloads tell me I have no installed... wireless LAN hardware but I know it's there, and I never got it out!
Can someone tell me what I can do?
Hi George
I think that you just have not installed the right driver WLan.
The Portege M100 was certainly equipped with a wireless network card internal minPCI and you should see it in the device under network card Manager. It should appear as an unknown device (if no driver has been installed) or a Wlan-Intel/Atheros/Toshiba/Cisco card.
Always it is that there are different models of the Portege M100 with different internal minPCI WLan cards and I think you used the incompatible driver.
Please check the single WLan drivers published on the page of the Toshiba driver and check if you allow your internal wireless network card.
In addition, you can use the Toshiba WLan portal to get the latest drivers for the Atheros/Intel cards.
Check this box:

Portege M100 - Toshiba utility to install hangs
I have a Portege M100 (prob M100-112), who has been 'hacked' all by its former owner, and I'm trying to re - install all the tools and drivers.
In particular, I would like to upgrade the BIOS to v1.50 (1.30).
The tool to upgrade the BIOS (windows) complains that the common modules are not installed, but when I try to install the common modules Installer crashes just with no visible user interface and no mistake.
I have re-installed all the points listed in the recommended order - but not luck :-(
Any help and constructive welcom
DaveConstructive help?
What else can you get on this forum? ;)Hi Dave
I put t know the order of installation you used and what elements have installed you before, but it turns out that the common modules must be installed first before you start to install the other Toshiba tools and utilities.
I assume that you try to install Windows XP Home edition, so here's the order of complete plants:
Driver Chipset
Display driver
Audio driver
Network driver
Driver Modem
Network wireless driver
Atheros Client Utility
Cisco Aironet Client Utility
Infrared driver
Common modules
Power management
Button controls
Console
Utilities
ConfigFree
User manual
DVD player
Bluetooth stack
Utility to change display device
DVD-RAM driver software
Mobile extension
Skins for Windows Media Player
SD memory card format
SD Secure Module
Wireless Hotkey Utility
Hotkey for display devices
Sun Java Runtime Environment

Disk error when you exit the Portege M100 in standby mode
Hello all :)
Have a Portege M100 for general use with WXP Pro installed.
Recently decided to upgrade to a DVD - rom DVD burner, then bought a Sony DW-Q250A burner.
Installed and it worked, but I continue having problems when the computer wakes from sleep, I get the message "ERROR #1 IDE", while the system reboots without additional probs in windowsThe problem is, once this happens, the DVD player then disappears from the window 'my computer' and is not visible in the "Device Manager", until I remove the disc, back up and then analyze for pop. "p in Device Manager devices, it reappears as nothing has happened."
I thought it might have been a conflict with the IDE bus (ie the two - disk HARD & DVD - disks configured as master) so I put a rider on the HARD disk to make the slave drive (which looks like to mean a change of firmware on the DVD drive for this) but it just created more probs... Then I got a message "ERROR of IDE #0" extra when I did and the machine would not boot from the HARD drive.Any thoughts would be welcome? :|
Mark
Hi mate,
"first of all I would like to explain the IDE #0 error: it s quite understandable given that the HARD drive is the * FIRST * player of all and must stand the * FIRST" by car, which means that you jumper shouldn´t to a slave drive. It must be a master, otherwise, as in your case, the boot of won´t machine.
in
So you have 2 IDE channels (primary and secondary IDE channel), and each channel has a master and a slave. Apart from the HARD drive that is located on the main channel, your DVD player is naturally on the secondary channel configured as the master drive.
Here´s a bit 'image': D to explain it:-> Primary channel-> Master = HARD drive
-> Slave = nothing-> Secondary channel-> Master = DVD
-> Slave = nothingRegarding your problem:
I have no definitive solution for you, but I can give you some advice. First download the latest BIOS for your machine and upgrade to the latest version. Then download the latest drivers and install them. After that, look for an update of the firmware of your player of DVD and last but no less check the database of microsoft for known issues as any of the similar issues are known for me with drives toshiba toshiba machines.
Would be worthy to try
:)
See you soon

Wireless card not found - Portege M100
I hope someone can help me, I'm pulling out my hair!
I bought a used Portege M100 (model number PPM10E) and is in serious trouble to install the mini-pci wireless adapter that comes with it.
When I turn on the wireless switch on the front, light on the cover comes in orange.
Windows XP (Pro, SP1, and SP2 update) does not see the device. Device Manager acknowledges 2 devices with problems: 'Network controller' and 'other devices '.
I downloaded the drivers all listed for this model and installed (or tried!) in the order specified in the Installation Instructions file (from the same page of drivers Toshiba download for this model).
I also installed Everest Home Edition, and he sees the wireless adapter and tells me that it is an Intel 2200 BG.
I tried to get drivers updated Intel and driverguide.com, but none of them will have, either - not even on a clean install, substituting them the driver provided by Toshiba.
The wireless card works perfectly in other non-Toshiba notebook, also running Win XP Pro - so I guess that there is a conflict of software/hardware with this Toshiba laptop!
I tried to 'update driver' on 1 2 problem devices) by pointing their (via Device Manager / driver update) each downloaded game (uncompressed) file. No joy.
(2) to connect to my router via an ethernet cable and allowing Windows to search online for drivers. No joy here no more. When I try to run the Atheros Client Utility or Config Free, they can't find any wireless adapter on the system.
Can someone give me advice on what to do next? Specifically, I bought this machine because I need to use wireless.
Thanks in advance (and hope!)
Teddy
A few questions:
1. you said that the wireless network card works in the Toshiba laptop not. Did you change the card WiFi of your Toshiba to the other laptop?
2. you are not sure if it's an Intel or Atheros Wlan card (otherwise it makes no sense to install a client with an Intel Wlan card atheros). Could you please send the PnP ID of the device (DeviceManager-> properties-> details-> Hardware ID)? -
Unknown device ACPI/HPQ0004
Hello
I installed the 64 bit, win 7 on my dv8-1190ef, but there is an unknown device (ACPI/HPQ0004).
Please help me solve this problem!
That's the guard HP 3D drive.
This is a slightly different model of dv8, but it will work. I guess HP forgot a list for your specific model number. I couldn't find FRO your support in any case page.
And here's a more recent version
I found this one for a HP Envy, but as mentioned, it will work fine for a dv8, or any other laptop with burner HP hardware 3D of the guard.
