  -the SD card is not recognized
  Unfortunately I have not found all the Windows 7 drivers in the download area of toshiba for these devices driver.

  As you probably know Toshiba designs and publish own graphics drivers for Toshiba laptops the graphics drivers are not the same thing as the original graphic drivers of manufacturing such as nVidia or ATI graphics card!
  Graphics drivers from Toshiba are changed in order to avoid overheating of the graphics cards!

  Usually, the books don't provide any special graphics card modules but only the module cooling CPU cooling and so the laptop graphics driver controls the performance of the graphics card.

  If the temperature rises to the critical level the driver slows down the map decreases the temperature and heat production.
  Drivers Nvidia or ATI of origin don't feature such support!
  In my opinion, this is a reason why the card temperature rises to highest level!

  Attention, something like that could damage the graphics card!

  I have a Toshiba Satego P100 Notebook 10U (Modell Nr.: PSPAME - 004002GR) and now I have done an upgrade of RAM of 2 GB of RAM to 4 GB of RAM. My problem is that my Windows 7 64-bit and my 64 bit Ubuntu, do not use the full 4 GB of RAM. The OSs show me that they are 4 GB inside, but he can already use the 3 GB. BIOS has been updated to v. 4.80 and nothing happened.

  Theoretically, it might be possible that some memory is reserved and used for other hardware components like graphics card or something, but if the BIOS detects the whole capacity everything is ok.

  I often play games like call of Duty4, Counter Stri * ke Source, FEAR Combat etc with my Toshiba laptop...
  After a few minutes, the game, the CPU send a warning: CPU overheating!

  With the right tool brand CPU my CPU temp. is greater than 95Celsius!
  If I am not under my laptop a few CDs or books on the corners to make a place for cooling, the laptop crashed because the CPU is overheating...

  This problem is only if Iplay 3D games.

  I did an upgrade of the Bios via WinPlash as I installed the XBox Live. Upgrading the Bios did not work (stupid me) and therefore, I'll have just a black screen after that I have turn on the monitor. The machine emits no beep, nor does it show anything else.
  I have subsequently:
  Downloaded the WinPlash on another PC. As it says in the doc (unziped in a folder), but the file '... ". for bootable CD"is not generated (nothing else that the files have been copied).
  Subsequently I have burned (all files = part of Vista 32 Bit) with NERO on a bootable CD, but it does not start the program (CD starts spinning, LED in CD / DVD flashes yellow then it stops).
  Then, I only copied their executables on a USB key, tired to load it from there - ZERO nothing but the sound of the screens black and fan.

  Tried to access the Bios with combinations of power sur-bouton ' "+ ESC, F1, F2, F10, F12, Del, ALT (as the left of the SPACE key), CTRL.

  Could someone tell me if there is a start-up tool or a BIOS image tha starts, or a special touch?

  so, you have little chance really bad because this issue needs to be repaired by a qualified technician. I had a similar problem and have searched for a few weeks for a resolution quick and good cheap but I couldn t find anywhere these tools mentioned you´ve.

  Satego P100 unknown to me, but I presume that this laptop is similar to the Satellite P100. I can just recommend you to check all the processes and substantive services and put an end to all things, that you don't need.

  I put t know which antivir application is preinstalled but it's probably Norton as on other laptops Toshiba. Try to stop it or even delete the system and see if the laptop works better.

  By the way: is this model of laptop available in Germany?

  I m really surprised because such error problem should be resolved after the installation of the new operating system.
  More as you already suggested the filter upstream and downstream in the registry key are mainly responsible for these strange drive problems.

  In any case, I recommend to remove the drive from Device Manager and reboot the laptop. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the CD/DVD drive again. You should see a message as new device has been installed or something like that

  In addition, it would be desirable to use a system like CCleaner repair program. It s freeware!

  Finally, you should check the registry again if the upper and lower filter exists and delete it.
  Don t forget to reboot the device.

  I found this one for a HP Envy, but as mentioned, it will work fine for a dv8, or any other laptop with burner HP hardware 3D of the guard.
