Unknown PC shown in devices and printers

Original title: does anyone else have access to my computer or is a microsoft program?  The name of the PC / multimedia is Tina.

When I opened my device and printers today, I see that a (pc) device under multimedia that is unknown to me?  Author is Microsoft and the State is in offline mode and the properties are unknown.  Does anyone else have access to my computer?

Hey Jeannie,.

Unless you have given access to your computer to someone, there is no way that someone else can access your computer.

Devices and Printers window shows the devices that are plugged into the computer. Usually, the first PC icon you see will be the name of the computer. Make sure that it is not the name of the computer.

-Type of Panel in the Search and then click on system and security category and choose the System.

-If the name of the computer and the name displayed for the PC icon in devices and printers are the same, then you need not worry.

If it's something else, then go into devices and printers, click with the right button on the PC icon and click on remove device. Restart the computer to ensure that the changes are applied.

Hope this information is useful. If you have any questions, let us know.

I am running windows 7 Professional, and my parallel printer (hp laserjet 5 p) does not appear in my list of devices and printers. I can also access via my LAN.  It doesn't, however, work very well as my default printer. what I have to do to get on the list, I can change the attributes to share?

launch printmanagement.msc, it is the tool provided by the spooler team to administer local printers

Apparently the devices and printers will fire this printer on your computer if the parallel port is configured for the SPP.  If you right click on the computer in devices and printers, you can see the menu item printer properties there.    You can change the configuration of the BIOS of your computer.  If the parallel port is an addition on the map please let me know the manufacturer.

But frankly printmanagement is a better solution.

How do I change the icon of the generic printer for a period that best represents my printer. No problem on the other two systems with Win7, but the new machine gives me a way to change. It is for me a custom icon for my HP printer, but a generic for my Epson printer. Have some custom icons for the two printers on other machines in Win7. Help!

There is a lot of information on the web about this.  For example, to see the results of this research--> https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+7+devices+and+printers+icons+change&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

  • Desktop appears as a laptop in devices and printers - no ethernet

My desktop computer Dell Vostro 460 appears as a Dell laptop, the type of unknown model in the menu "devices and printers". It has a yellow sign with an exclamation point in the icon and offers to solve problems. When I click on this option, it offers to install a driver for SM bus controller and a driver for the ethernet controller. I click on apply, but this utility is unable to find a driver for either.

    Other details:
    -Windows 7
-J' have recently replaced the 2 sticks of RAM. Didn't notice this problem until after I installed them, but it could be a problem because my ethernet has never worked.
    -My works wireless.
-No UBS has already been connected.
-No battery indicator never appeared. It appears only as a laptop in this menu.

  • Suddenly, a window devices and printers in Windows7 Starter shows 0 items.

After trying everything I could, I came across suggested fix by Alan Morris, entered a long command.

This produces the following message: "this file has no program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if such is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel. »

I'm new on Windows and have no idea of what I'm supposed to do.

Moreover, several attempts, using the restore of the system to solve the problem all failed, reporting a "unknown error 0 x 80070005.

I see in this forum a lot of people with the loss of the window there devices and printers since at least February.  Microsoft Corp. never solves problems in the software it sells?

I hope someone can put me on the right track.

Finally discovered that it's actually a problem of bluetooth services. I don't know even why I looked there-

THE DIFFICULTY at least for me...

Click the Start button, type "services" in the search programs and files. This will display a list in the menu, select Services. "This should open a list of local services on your system..., Find ' Bluetooth Service" and make sure that it has begun, click right and put on 'automatic' (mine was already fixed), select 'Bluetooth Support Service' and start, set to automatic (mine has been on dsabled).

This fixed my issue, I hope you do too...

    Hi @Metal1,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support with your request.

I understand that you use a HP Officejet 5743 e-all-in-one printer with a Windows 10 PC and printer appears twice in the file devices and printers in Windows, with slightly different names. I would like to help with that.

I was looking into this and found that there is a solution, concerning Direct eventually picked up by your PC if directly on wireless wireless signal the printer is 'On '.  Try the post with the answer of the @vthapa by clicking here.

  • Windows folder instead of the Officejet 6500 icon icon has more E710n in devices and printers

Can someone help me get the OfficeJet 6500 has more e710n printer to display correctly in devices and Printers icon?

I have recently reinstalled Windows 8.1.  However, when I installed my printer, the printer icon in devices and printers, I get a generic Windows yellow folder icon.  The Fax icon is OK, just the printer icon is wrong.

If I double click the icon, I get a blank page with a message near the top of the page saying: 'information updates are available on your device.  Click here to download or learn more. "If I click on the notice, a drop down menu appears with 'Download update of information' or 'Learn' more.  If I choose Update downloaded information, a new printer window appears which is often empty except for a message in the center of the window that says "no task is available on this page" to learn the most fair option gives me info on the update of drivers.

The icon of the printer in the start menu is fine.

I used HP Print and Scan Doctor uninstall and reinstall my printer, but it did not help.  The program finds a problem with the printer driver and the fixed, but that has not changed the icon either.

I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit fully up to date and used the full version of the HP Installer for the printer (not the basic version) and HP Print and Scan v4.6 doctor.

  • Photosmart HP 7520: 2 printers appear on devices and printers

I'm not technical so need help to understand why when I look in the control panel under devices and printers 2 printers appear.  We're the printer default HP Photosmart 7520 series (network) and the other is HP96DC72 (Hp Photosmart 7520 series).  I've included a snapshort of the properties of the two printers appears under devices and printers.  I combined 3 pictures into one.  Point 1: shows the properties under the default printer with the menu drop down list 2 printers, reason why two of them?  Point 2: shows the properties for the second (HP96DC72) indicating that it is a printer web services.  Point 3: displays the properties of the default printer.

Can someone explain what the hell this is all about?  I have a printer, but defined it in my router as a printer for printing, although I him have not used for this purpose again.

    Any comments will be appreciated.

    Thank you... Ralph

    Hello

Those are two logical printers, and you can use both:

    1. the first condition is connected to your WiFi network normally.

    2. the other is directly connected, you can print even when your network down.

    Kind regards.

Webcam is displayed in devices and printers, but can not get turned on?

    Hello

    ·         What operating system do you use?

    ·         You're using a built-in or external webcam?

    ·         What is the brand and model of the webcam?

    ·         Were there recent changes made on the computer before the show?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to check in Device Manager if you can detect the webcam. See the link below to open the Device Manager in windows 7:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-Device-Manager

    Method 2:

Try to update the drivers for the webcam from the manufacturing site and check if it works:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

    Method 3:

Use the hardware and devices Troubleshooter to fix the problem.

    Hi all

I was wondering, is your computer itself supposed to be listed under devices in the peripheral zone and printer to Windows 7? Or is it a driver problem.

In addition, only connected external devices or devices that can be removed will appear in devices and printers.

For return options have been lost, you need to uninstall and reinstall using the latest drivers from HP. This should retrieve all of your options.

Product Photosmart 5515-B111H (CQ183B) running on Windows 7 PC. Software seems to have loaded ok. • Why are there two icons for my P1102w in devices and printers, Windows 7 Pro?

I've recently updated the firmware and drivers on a LaserJet P1102w and now have two icons in devices and printers on Windows 7 Pro. An icon is correct and functional; the other is basically an icon that does not work and it reads series of printers HP LaserJet P1100. Functional icon reads the printer HP LaserJet 1102w (which is correct). If a single UN-installs the unusable icon, Windows just charge drivers to re - start. Is it possible to get rid of this icon?

    The problem has been resolved.

HP Smart Install apparently was the problem. It is that I have updated the firmware and drivers to the latest (version October 2012) that the problem started. I used the HP CD and run the utility to disable Smart Install. I managed to remove the second icon, and he never returned.

When I bought the printer, Smart Install worked fine, but not after the firmware upgrade.
