  Set Permissions for a locked drive

  Open a Terminal in the Utilities folder. Paste the following commands at the command prompt. Press RETURN after each. The first command will be asked to enter your admin password. There are not displayed on the screen. After entering your password, press RETURN again.

  I have been using my Portege R600 running windows XP for about 14 months now and recently FOUND that he began to take 1 to 2 minute wait before starting the sequence start or resumption after hibernation.   To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

  1. what version of Windows operating system is installed on the computer?

  2. is the computer connected to a network domain?

  You must enable WIA - Windows Image Acquisition. Now to do these following steps.

  a. click Start and type services.msc in the search box

  b. Locate the service:

  Remote procedure call (RPC)

  DCOM Server process Launcher

  RPC end point mapper

  Detection material core

   

  Make sure that the Startup type is Automatic.  Steps to set the auto services

  c. search for the service

  d. right-click on the service

  e. If the service is stopped and then Start the service

  f. Select Properties

  g and in the Startup type , select Automatic

  Enable these services. To click directly on it, click Properties, and make it automatic. Once you turn on all the start them. After all the services are started, scroll to 'Windows Image Acquisition' this automatic too and start it. Just restart your PC and you should be good to ride.

  Suggest you take the simple test vi and start adding all the features of your original application.  It accumulates in the stages and test at each stage.  I hope this helps you identify the problem.

• Windows XP - recognition USB keyboard/mouse after change in the BIOS

  I moved to use a mouse and a keyboard that is connected via PS/2 ports for a new keyboard and mouse which connect via the USB ports.  The BIOS was originally installed to recognize the keyboard and the mouse through the operating system, but to use the start menu (e.g., to be able to press the 'Del' key to access BIOS), the BIOS must be set to recognize the keyboard and mouse via the BIOS.

  The problem is that in this way, Windows does not recognize the keyboard and mouse.  Is there a way to fix this?  I would like to have the keyboard and mouse recognized at startup so that I can access the start menus and the menu of the BIOS, but it does not help much if I can not then use Windows.

  I guess he has put something in Windows during installation which checks the BIOS settings to determine how to access the keyboard and mouse.  Is it possible to change this setting to Windows?  Possibly through the procedure of "repair"?

  Check all revisions of the BIOS for your system.  You might be unluck and you might be stuck with this problem.

  If you formatted your drive and then installed Windows Vista, the drive was wiped out and there is not a way to recover data under Windows.
