"UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" 0x000000ED (0x8A45C690, OxC0000006, Ox00000000, Ox000000)

I have a toshiba satellite A105-S4094 with windows xp, today, when I try to use it, I get this error when I turn it on, on "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" STOP: 0x000000ED (0x8A45C690, OxC0000006, Ox00000000, Ox000000), I followed the instructions of the computer told me but nothing happen I always get the same result, i trying to find something online, but the options did not work for me , because first of all I never move the 40 to 80 cable entire somepeople say and I did not install any product...

Method 1: Repair the volume note the second parameter (0 x bbbbbbbb ) in the error message. You may need to regenerate the error to write it.

If the second parameter (0 x bbbbbbbb ) of the stop error is 0xC0000032, the cause of the error is that the file system is damaged. You can try to repair the volume to see if this resolves the error. If the second parameter is not 0xC0000032, see "method 2: check the cable IDE and load the built-in safety settings ' help.

  • If the file system is damaged, you can use the chkdsk /r command to repair the volume. However, if you use the chkdsk r command, you may lose data.
  • You will need the disks to start Windows or the Windows installation disc. If you do not, contact the manufacturer of the computer to help them get the disks.
  • You will need the administrator password to complete the steps.

To repair the volume, follow these steps:

  1. Start your computer by inserting the diskettes of Windows startup or the Windows installation disk if your computer can start from the CD drive.
  2. When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to select the repair option.
  3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot, select the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
  4. Type the administrator password when you are prompted to do so.

Note If no administrator password exists, press ENTER.

  5. At the command prompt, on the drive where Windows is installed, type chkdsk/r, and press ENTER.
  6. At the command prompt, type exit and press ENTER to restart your computer.
  7. After repairing the volume, check your hardware to isolate the cause of the damage to the file system.

If this procedure does not work, repeat, but Type fixboot instead of chkdsk/r

If the issue is not resolved, download Diagnostics of hard disk from one of the links below and check your hard drive

  • Blue Screen of Death UnMountable_Boot_Volume 0x000000ED

I get the same message on two desktop computers.  Two of these errors occurred in few days when computers "freeze" while he was working and there was no way out except to turn off and loose.  Neither has been able to load Windows since!

Both are running Windows xp professional that has been purchased for each computer an update for XP provided on these computers.  I UPGRADE the two original install discs, but I can't use the drive for repairs because the computer boots apparently directly from the HD.

I still go into this loop.  Windows has encountered an error.  Please restart in: safe mode, last known config or normal etc).  Of course, none of these options do restart except the process of starting the same way.

I got to the Console of Microsoft recovery with some extra options, but that takes me right to the Blue Screen of Death with details about the error message: Unmountable_boot_volume with the hex codes (the first being 0x000000ED on both computers).

I found several solutions on the internet, but they all assume that you can go to Safe Mode and run other programs like Chckdisk.  But I just can't.  I got (accidentally I might add) on the screen of the Bios utility.  Maybe it's (HP) computers or age, but on one of the computers, the BIOS page it shows:

    Configuration of the BIOS:

Master of the first string: Maxtor with numbers.

    First channel slave (none)

2nd channel Master (HP DVD Writer)

    2nd channel slave (IDE-DVD-Rom 16 x)

    3rd channel Master (None)

    4 channel Master (none).

In the BIOS utility menu, I tried the F5 to reset the values by default, recorded and released, but everything is still show no change.

I spend more than 2 hours on the phone with HP trying to get this resolved nothing doesn't.  The technician that I talked to had no idea how to fix this error - even if he said "no problem we will fix that in a minute."  While with this technology, I disconnected everything, rebooted several times by pressing F8 F9, F10 and DELETE, F1.  Finally, he said that the best thing I could do was wipe my hard drive and reinstall the software.

Of course this is not a solution if the start of corruption can be solved.  And besides, even if I was willing to do that (I'm not still), how the hell I get computers to reinstall the software for two obvious reasons: 1) I have windows XP upgrade disks are installed and 2) the computer cannot read the discs anyway.

I searched and found a lot of "bugs" on the internet, so it must be a fixable problem.  But most of the solutions assume that you can access your BIOS and change (even if nobody ever says what you should change to?), and then run the patches since the installation of XP discs.  I was also on many other sites that provide a Bootable CD to start Windows XP, but I can not get my computer to see the CD before it starts up.  I tried all suggestions as press F2 when the computer is turned on, and then select boot from CD.  But while on a few occasions, I got the "press any key to boot from CD" (once accidentally so I do not know how to get this message again), it doesn't matter what key has been pressed, it just took me in the loop.

Does anyone have an answer that starts from the beginning assuming that the computer will not read from the CD and walking then how to understand and fix this problem.  I am sure that there is someone out there who knows how to help with this error message.  At least I hope.  I'm not technical, please keep answers in simple language.  Thanks a lot for your help

    Hi JackLewington,

This problem can be caused if:

    1. the file system is damaged and cannot be mounted.
    2. you use a standard 40-wire connector cable to connect the UDMA drive to the controller instead of the 80 cable son and 40 pins required.
    3. the basic input/output system (BIOS) settings are configured to force the acceleration of UDMA modes.

When I start my Vaio laptop, I get a screen that tells me that Windows did not start successfully and gives me boot options (safe mode, etc.). I tried all the options with the same results: the Windows logo appears for about 5 seconds, then I get a blue screen for a fraction of a second, not long enough to read the error message, then the process starts all over again, again and again! I have not any hardware or software recently added. I followed these instructions for an answer to the same exact situation. (The first thing to do is to unplug all devices (printers, USB Hub, drives external, etc.) and try to start.  If this does not help your system and startup startup then pressing F8 as soon as it begins to start.  You will get the Windows startup options screen.  Select "Disable automatic restart in the event of system failure" and let restart.) I have nothing plugged into the laptop never and have not installed all the software on this subject recently. I get the error code is UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. Day before yesterday, I had to close the office without disconnection.  I've done it before.  This time, when I tried to connect a blue screen appears saying: "a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer"? !!!  Just before my stop, AVG Security had run Security Scans 'ALL' and 'all' was very good.  In addition, Microsoft Windows updated my system as well.  AVG Security scan preset for 14:00 daily and updates to Microsoft Windows preset to 15:00 daily.

    Hi there SQUAWKERTWO,

0x000000ED and UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME means that your hard drive starts to do not (or has not) - I understand your financial situation (as I was once unemployed two years) but unfortunately I can't recommend you don't use your system for awhile until you can save up enough money for a computer technician to clone your entire hard drive to a new. If you continue to try to use your system, this means your hard drive can completely fail, then your only chance to recover personal files would be done by a specialist in data recovery - and they are very rarely affordable.

    Hi all.

first of all, I have looked for the last time on here and through the Internet for a solution and messages as in my case and have only seen similar semi positions for any help would be really great!

I have a toshiba satellite running Windows 7 2010 and although it is a bit old and tired (restored my PC several times over the years) everything was ok and the laptop worked as usual, although slowish, as of yesterday.

I just tried to start, and the first screen that appears shows "computer repair" or start Windows normally. I tried both of them and they both end up by to a black screen with a normal larger than the white slider.

I rebooted, you press F8 and tried all kinds of safe modes and other options, but after you click each option it just goes back to staging a 'repair' or 'start as usual' etc. safe mode starts.

I have important college works on my PC that needs to be expelled quickly and really panicking here. :(, il semble que c'est mort-parfois, je reçois un aperçu d'un écran bleu, mais en un instant, elle disparaît le le portable redémarre à l'étape 1 à nouveau)

I have no CD or anything from toshiba or Windows and I am really scared any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

This problem may occur because of damaged or missing Windows startup files.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME bug control has a value of 0x000000ED. This indicates that the i/o subsystem attempted to mount the boot volume and it failed.

Startup Repair failed, I suggest you run the bootrec tool and check if that helps.
    Refer to this article:
Use Bootrec.exe in the WINRE to resolve startup problems
    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/927392

It repairs the master boot record (MBR), boot sector, and store of data (BCD) configuration of startup.

Yet, change the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    I hope this information helps.

Please let us know if you need more help.

My Toshiba M35X laptop, Windows XP, works great. When I turned on it again once I received the following message:

    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer.  If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check that any hardware software is properly installed.  If this is a new installation, ask that your hardware to the software manufacturer for any windows updatesyou might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software.  Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading.  If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Safe mode.

I've tried everything.  Safe mode or one of the other modes do not work, or "last known configuration.

None of the books on the computer repair tell me how to solve this problem.

    Please, please help.

Although it is a Windows XP installation CD, should NOT be used either of the functions of the Installation. You will use the Recovery Console to run a program to check the structure of files on the hard drive and fix it if necessary. There is VERY little chance of what either being deleted! And you'll still have SP3 when all is said and done. :-)

That being said, it is important to ensure that everything is always stored safely.

Hello, first of all I would like to start by saying that the type of computer I have is very old... it's a Compaq laptop with windows Vista or XP, I don't remember. • 0x000000ED error code is constantly before even I can connect on it please help!

Windows Update was downloading an updated when there was a power outage and now when I turn on the computer I get a blue screen before I can log on! He said "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" and technical information: "* STOP: 0x000000ED (0x8631F520, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) HELP Please URGENT I PANIC!"

Power outages unexpected when writing the disk often cause disk corruption.  In some cases, your only alternative is to re - install Windows on your hard drive.  But before that, try to boot with the CD of 'rescue' and try to perform a 'Chkdsk' with the /F or/r option.  One of my favorite Boot CD is "Hirens Boot Disk".
On another computer, download the Hirens .zip file, extract the files and burn a boot CD by double-clicking the file ".cmd" extracted from the .zip file.  Then take this CD on your problem machine and insert it into the CD drive and boot from this CD.  You may need to press a key to go into the BIOS and set the boot order to boot from the CD before the hard drive, but generally, you don't need to.

Once started, see if you can find your hard drive.   If you can, note the drive letter and do a chkdsk on your hard drive. There are many diagnostic programs on Hirens drive that could also help to recover your disk.
