Unmountable_Boot_Volume. Too familiar?

Hello Microsoft.

For what has been a year, my Dell Dimension 3100 has been collecting dust in the corner of my office because of the "Unmountable_Boot_Volume" Code error. (* STOP: 0X000000ED (0X81F2B030, 0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000))

Now, I did my research, of course, and he has told me in two directions. The fault may be hidden in the TRUNK. File INI, or my hard drive has failed.

I'm sure that Microsoft does not tolerate this, but I started in Linux (via Live CD, so Linux is not INSTALLED on the hard drive, only on the CD) to see what the problem is. I browsed to the folder where my hard drive has been mounted, (/ mnt/sda2) and to my surprise... All my data was there. I checked the boot.ini file and everything seemed to be OK, as well as all the files of the hard disk in tact.

So my question to you, Microsoft, how can I solve this problem. I think that my situation is different from many other people, as I don't have a Windows XP disc in my possession, due to an unfortunate event that resulted in its destruction. Also, many have told me to start "Mode without failure-command" however... at boot in this mode, 'mup.sys' file is shown, most recent, on the screen, then the Error Message is present.

Another interesting fact of this situation, when I start Windows XP (where the logo is displayed) the hard drive is a scraping sound twice and then twice again. Followed by the Error Message. I'm inclined to believe it's actually the hard drive do not, but I'm not so sure, because I can access all my files perfectly using Linux Live CD

Tell me please, what are your impressions.

Kind regards, Graham.

Your symptoms does not indicate a problem with the boot.ini file.  Problems with the boot.ini file present different symptoms.

In a single volume installation XP even doesn't have a boot.ini file to start.  He will complain but always starts very well without one.  If you think to it, just rename it so that you don't have and XP will always start (if there is nothing else) and then you can repair or make a new one.

All your data are always on your drive hard unless you deleted or formatted your drive.

Here is an example of a Microsoft article with a description similar to yours:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/297185

Method 1 said to repair the volume using the chkdsk/r, and that sounds like a pretty good idea to me, but I'm not Microsoft (also).

You can also check all your cables and other connections, but if you get that far in the boot process, the messages come from XP so he tries at least load, so it's not like there is some loose cable somewhere.

With this kind of error message (if your file system needs repairs) you will not engage in any kind of Mode safe either.

It seems that XP knows your file system is corrupt and trying to fix it.  That's why it seems to get hung on mup.sys in Mode safe (it is really hung up on what comes after mup.sys).  At this point, XP would automatically check to see if one of your blocks have been marked 'dirty' and XP would try to correct, but he is stuck.

If you have no Windows CD, make a bootable CD of XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console.

I think that the majority of the people who post in this forum have no support for XP, so you need answers which will apply in the most common situations.

It's a short-sighted idea for troubleshooting of an idea to be suggested where step 1 is insert/boot on your XP CD installation... chances are that idea will instantly not go very far.  I always assume that nobody has any support XP and find a way to fix things in this way.

If you want to recovery/copy your personal files to another device in the fear that your hard drive is broken or about to break, you can do that too with no XP media required.

Here are the General instructions copy and paste to make a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console and run chkdsk/a:

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

xp_rec_con. ISO

Download the ISO from here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the command prompt.

Start by checking the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.  It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!

Someone at - he had an experience with PayPal credit that can test my hypothesis, or provide information on how I can add it as an option if my hypothesis is incorrect? I have an iphone 5 s. recently, I cut the photos from iphone and paste these to the pc via usb cable. Unfortunately these pictures have been removed from pc too. I want to retrieve those pictures. Please suggest how can I recover those photos?

    Hi Vikas,

If she does that 30 days, and you don't remove it from the album recently deleted, you can restore the images from the album.

But if you have removed this album, there is not much that can be done.

I'm not too familiar with the PC, so I think you'll have better luck in other forums tech than the Apple forum.

I'm not too familiar with logic, but I think it should work:

Make sure that if you go to Logic Pro X > Preferences > advanced tools, 'Show Advanced Tools' is checked.

Double click on the track you want to listen inverted so editor opens upward, to remain in the file of the Editor tab and then go to functions > reverse. The shortcut is Command-Shift-R.

However, I would like to know if buy you one that comes with a PCIe SSD out of the factory, will there still be a SATA port to add a spare hard drive?

Yes, the logic board of 2014 has two connections. One for the PCIe and the other for a 2.5 "HDD or SSD.

    See > https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac_Mini_Late_2014

If I had to shine up to a 2014, I'd go with the Fusion model.

    Why, because

    1. the only model of HARD drive won't have a PCIe cable and support.

    2. the single PCIe model won't have a SATA cable, and maybe not a disc tray.

  • How to get people with a gmail address to see Thunderbird email stationery

I received email Thunderbird so I could use the paper and I'm in LOVE - unlimited stationery for the rest of my life unless they come out as Microsoft did with Windows. When I send emails with stationery to my e-mail address Thunderbird to anyone with a Windows Live email address, stationery crosses very well, but if I send to someone with a gmail address, no stationery comes through at all. I have a gmail address myself and have tried to understand. I can't find anywhere to click the e-mail received in gmail to view stationery. Anyone has any experience with this and find out if this is possible?

Most of the people I know that seems to have the gmail addresses and I would use the paper when I send them an email but do not know how they can see it.

    Thanks if anyone can help.

According to this site, open Windows Live Mail, press Alt-H-A, I think it's the same as the help / about. The build No. will be 16, 15 or 14 (WLM 2012, 2011 or 2009).

  • JPlayer works not once I disabled some plugins

I was doing a little cleaning to try to reduce the amount of memory that uses FF and disable plugins that I don't use. Unfortunately, I did not set up a screenshot of the "before" plugins, just ' after' disabled ones. (some were already turned off before and after). screenshot to: http://imgur.com/cDwxVmm

In any case, I sometimes listen to www.michaelgraham.com/radio and now I am not able to. The play button just shows a little "javascript:" text box in the lower left corner that does nothing. The source code shows that the site uses jplayer. I'm not too familiar with this, but I thought it might be time to update my version of Java. So I did. 7.0.7 to 7.0.45 (gulp!) but that did not help.

I tried all the plugins reactivation, but which did not help. Oddly, I now can't listen to this radio show in IE either. a demo to test jplayer page has worked well for me. Podcasts (.mp3) play very well.

I can't find a jplayer.swf on my computer. Not sure where it would be. I went to options/Applications and file types shown most Quicktime as the application, so I changed all those related to the sound to always ask, but that did not help. I see nothing in this list for MP3.

In any case, I think that the best thing to do now is to just restore my profile to an earlier era of backups. I read that the file localstore.rdf is may be damaged or also just an older sessionstore.js would be required.

Before you do more damage, any advice on the best way to restore my previous audio environment? Should I enter the entire profile folder and overwrite the local? Or are there parts just keys that are necessary?

No idea how these actions could have messed up audio on the PC itself (Windows 7-64) as IE can play that audio be? That's the scariest part of this mess.

Maybe it's just a Web site code error.

  • iTunes songs show downloaded without match.

I made digital copies of vinyl albums. These albums are also on the iTunes store, but in my library, it shows downloaded and unmatched.

It would be great if I could get these to say matched, I could then download the songs too familiar "pops and clicks".

Anyone know of a solution for this?

    Hello

ITunes game uses a noise footprint of the tracks for a match. Because there is rumble, surface noise, POPs and clicks, it is unlikely to find a match. Even if you have some software like Audacity or click on repair for the cleaning of the vinyl, the chances of getting a match are slim.

    Hello

I'm not too familiar with the hardware upgrades, so I wonder if a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB would be compatible with my HP Compaq DC7800 Small Form Factor?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello:

Here is the link to the plug for the GeForce 8800GT...

    http://www.GeForce.com/hardware/desktop-GPUs/GeForce-8800-GT/specifications

Certainly, this card will not work in your machine for two reasons.

    1. he needs a power outlet extra that doesn't have food dc7800.

    2. the draw of the power of the card (105W), is too much for the PCIe x 16 slot 25W prorated and 240W power your PC.

These PCs is designed for light desktop for administration.

If you want to add a video card, it must be a down a profile that comes with low profile brackets in the area.

I recommend the AMD HD 6450 or Nvidia GT-610 low profile cards that will work within the limits of the power supply of your PC has.

  • Satellite L450D-11V - I created a backup drive?

    Hello

I want to use the restore disk provided to remove the 64-bit version of Windows7 and install the 32-bit version. I followed the manual to the user and created recovery disks (2). When I just use the product recovery disc to install the 32-bit version of Windows7, it is a note on the back that says I have to reinstall additional software supplied with the notebook (in this case), of disparate media.

I guess that means I have to reinstall Works from a backup disk. I'm not sure anything's weather the disks that I created when the manual, more will have a backup of the copy works on or I will have to make another record of backup?

As you can tell, I'm not too familiar with all that kind of stuff, so please be gentle with answers and I apologize in advance if I seem to talk gibberish!

    Thanx

    Hello Adrian

All this with the image recovery and recovery disks is simply.
Each Toshiba laptop comes with preinstalled OS (factory State) and when you start the laptop for the first time preinstalled OS (operating system) will be implemented.

You can see that this preinstalled recovery image contains the operating system itself, all necessary drivers, different tools specific to Toshiba and utility and software additional such as McAffe or works. When you create valuation DVD facilities and use for the installation of the OS you will be have exactly the same state again.

I don't know what kind of additional software, you got with your laptop (maybe specific to each country), but if you have some additional software on disk of the separate facilities, I guess you have to install separately after installing the OS.
