• I crushed my desktop under Vista SP2 and the repair shop transformed old files by (.old) and reinstalled the operating system.

  I crushed my desktop under Vista SP2 really bad and couldn't get it to work again. I took it to the repair guy and they converted all the files (.old) and then reinstalled the operating system that has recovered the old files and got the computer running again. All the old files use about half of the hard drive and I want that space back. Is it safe to uninstall the old files? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

I had been synchronize my CLIÉ Palm Desktop and so when I got my new laptop, I went and download desktop 4.1.4e in the hopes that I could continue the sync on vista. The installation went well, it is, I can do a hot sync but none of my data transfers. If I create a new contact on my handheld, it will not be displayed on the desktop and even vice versa. When I check the hot sync log, it says that there are no errors. I didn't know if I should go to the forums of Palm or Clie forums so I apologize if this is no longer a Clie problem which should be in the forums of clie. Thanks in advance...

  Somehow, I accidentally dragged my file userdesktop out of my home directory of the user, in the folder of the main office.  The result, it seems, is an effect like pointing a video camera on his own monitor, by zooming in on itself to infiinity. Now I have like 60 folders named desktop in a tree. In my tree Explorer, I can access these 60 files at 4 different locations.

  Strangely enough, perhaps unrelated, these same files accessed via my Start menu are unrelated to records in my Explorer window. I can edit each... but the change does not reflect in the other.

  About 6 years ago I bought a new edition special desktop HP Pavilion at Future Shop.  Now I don't get updates, or the software corrects more.   Windows 10 is free for new versions...  Is there a discounted '10' for Vista and earlier versions of windows?   If I have to pay full price, this will be the 5th time that I pay for a new version of windows.  Please let know us if there is a download available.
