Unused icons in the Notification area icons?

Well, there must be a way to do this!

How to get rid of the icons of uninstalled programs that have been put in the "notification area icons"?

I change my AVG MS security essentials antivirus software and AVG has done a great job to remove any trace of itself, except for notification area icons. There must be a way to control what icons get put there?

This is the easiest way to do and it works!

It does not involve any changes to the registry, just run the .zip from the file that the thread below to take you to and you're done.

    Launch of HP Support Assistant.

Click the gable of parameters to the upper right.

Try these steps and check if that helps:

** Turn it back on. Sometimes a reboot will solve this problem.* *.

    1. close all programs and stop the laptop.

    2. remove all power supplies (battery and power cord)

    3. empty the remaining power by pressing the power on button for 30 seconds (even if you have no power).

    4. put the battery back and start the computer

    5. once fully loaded, right-click on the system tray and select Properties.

    6. This will bring to the top of the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box. The "Notification area" tab.

    7. at the bottom of the tab, is the area 'icons systems. " There is a checkbox for "Power". "check" the box and click on apply or OK.

Also update your graphics card drivers.

It works! Tanks a lot Johnny D.81!

  • How to increase the size of the icons in the notification area (lower right corner of the XP taskbar)

For some reason when I booted up my laptop, the icons were tiny and too small for my eyes. I think it was related to the installation of TestOut LabSim software on the laptop, because I noticed that the problem after doing so.

I was not yet aware that it was possible to adjut the size fo the icons in the notification area. All the links I found affect the icons in the start menu, or quick launch menu, but not the notification area.
The notification area is now two-lines, if it used only one, but the size of the taskbar has not changed. My DPI settings are always set to 'large '. The display resolution is unchanged.

The thing where you right-click the taskbar, choose 'Properties', then click on "Start menu", then customize, then choosing "large icons" is only the start, not the notification area menu. It is also already on large icons.
In addition, the thing where you right click on the Quick Launch bar and ends by choose "large icons" affects only the Quick Launch bar, not the right notification icons.

How do I do the large icons again so I can actually see them? My eyes are not more perfect, and I would rather not be squinting when using my laptop. I think seriously increase the DPI to 150% in its current form.

    Hi bhermance,

    Method 1

Try the steps mentioned below and see if it helps.

one) to open display, click Start, click Control Panel, click appearance and themes, and then click display.

    (b) click on the appearance tab, then Advanced.

    (c) now select buttons of legend in the list of items and increase the size.

    (d) click OK and apply

    Check if that helps.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you uninstall TestOut LabSim software of the computer and check if it helps.

  • Missing icons in the notification area

The only icons in the notification area are Microsoft Security Essentials and the clock. How can I get the default icons (especially ' remove hardware safely') to appear?

It wasn't the problem. But I did a ggogle search and found many others have had the same problem of lack of icons in the notification area, the solution was a small script that change a line in the registry, and the problem is solved. The problem has been apparently related to start several programs at the same time when the computer is turned on.

I am running Windows XP SP3. Is there a way to permanently eliminate unnecessary icons that are currently cluttering the notification area? Any help will be appreciated. Fred

    Hello

What are the icons in the notification area, you try to delete? Programs in the startup folder starts when you sign in to your profile. Try these icon right click or open the program and see if you can get "don't work don't not at startup" or "start with windows".

You can also check following sites:

Click Start-> Start up folder: see if whatever it is this that you do not want to load and connection.

Click Start-> Run Type & -> MSCONFIG-> ok select Startup and uncheck the programs you don't want to load at startup.

Icons such as LAN can be disabled from-> click on start-> network-> right-click Connections LAN and uncheck "show notification icon.

For Volume icon click on start-> Control Panel-> sound and Audio device-> uncheck "icon of volume of space in the taskbar.

    I hope this helps.

  • Its icon does not appear in the notification area - no audio device is installed

NO INSTALLED AUDIO DEVICE & NO SOUND, VIDEO & GAME CONTROLLER NOT TAB ON DEVICE MANAGER

I had some problems with the sound on my laptop... sometimes the volume icon will suddenly disappear from the notification area and I can not add it even because it is grayed off the coast, unless I restarted my laptop... and after an automatic Windows Update I suddenly got errors on my sound whenever I play a game and try to mute it. After that, the volume in the notification area icon got a red X and it had the "NO AUDIO DEVICE IS INSTALLED" message!

I tried everything I found on the net without success. I can't even enable or disable my audio driver because I have NOT any how 'audio, video controller & game' tab on my DEVICE MANAGER! I can't uninstall & re-install my drivers either because it would not uninstall first, even in safe mode. Reinstall the driver will give me an error message saying "No. MEDIA FOUND to this DEVICE DRIVER" !

I also tried to reformat my laptop and goes back to factory settings, restore my system to a point where I wasn't having problems still, it reboot several times, always check the Device Manager if somehow the tab for its controller will magically appear and try several times to reinstall my driver... This gave me No. SOLUTION !

I don't know what to do more and forums on other sites do no help either. I don't want to dirty my registry for fear of totally play my laptop.

HOW can I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM? I just got windows update and not only I have problems with the audio on my laptop but I can't play games on facebook either!

    Hi Annetalla,

You can uninstall the current sound driver from Device Manager and restart the computer to load the generic driver and check if it makes a difference.

    1. click on Start.

    2. type devmgmt. msc in the search box start and press to enter.

    3. right click on the speaker and select Uninstall.

4 restart the computer, and vista will load the generic drivers.

If an audio device on board, you will see the option in the BIOS. To do this, you need to read the manual that came with your computer or contact the manufacturer for this.

  • Can no longer see the network icon in the notification area...

OK, if one day I had an update alert Active on the lower right corner of my screen of my laptop. It was to download the new version of AIM-we said that your update is available, or something like that. I clicked on 'Install now' and went through the process with the GOAL. When I arrived at the end of the process, he said that everything was installed and I'm ready to go. Then when I restarted my computer, nothing has changed in GOAL it was always exactly the same as it was before I tried to install the software and my Internet connection / network connection icon is missing from the notification area next to where the time is displayed.

I searched and searched through my computer trying to turn it back on right click on the bar tasks then go to the menu to set the network connection icon to 'active' again, but he wasn't there. I have no idea how to do to reactivate it, and I need in my notification area because I would like to know when and what network I'm connected to. I need help! Any help is greatly appreciated.
