Unusual problem: partially black screen on the bottom right

Hi all

I would like to know what I can do to address these problems:

I only had my Clip 4 GB zip drive for a month, and today I noticed after that him have plugged for charging for more than a day lower the right hand screen is black. The rest of the screen is fine, it's just this little corner of the screen that is like that! Partially black screen is triangular and always there.

Another problem I've noticed is that I had it charging for more than a day, I expect to be fully recharged at the time where I unplugged, yet when I watched the news system, he indicated that power was '88% '. And then, when I was checked to make sure it read "77%", then again in '88% ' after I checked it once more. WTH is happening? Why the change?

Oh, and I think that the firmware is up to date (not sure if this is relevant) because they say "Version: V01.01.20F" in the settings.

In addition, there is a third question, I believe. I tried to reset by pressing the button of power for 20-30 seconds, but for some reason any, my drive is as insensitive to this, he starts just straight up / stops due to the initial pressure - i.e. function Reset does not work.

Others that the three above, I have not noticed other unusual symptoms. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could give me any advice to solve this problem.

Edit - I just noticed that when the drive is connected, he said 100% fully charged, but as soon as I unplug the 88% said

Thank you.

I would not be concerned about battery level indicator, as the Zip Clip is infamous for having been innacurate that.  Apparently better, if you want to know the exact charge: go to system info. screen (under system settings) and check the percentage of battery charge it.

Troubesome more is the screen problem.  If I were you, I would try to manually reapply the latest firmware (see firmware upgrade thread sticky at the top of the forum).  If that doesn't resolve the issues, I would contact the seller and/or the SanDisk for a defective/warranty drive replacement.

Please help me. I've had this laptop for less than a year, and it would break my heart to have to re - format.

You seem to have exhausted most of the options available in such cases, except two:
D ' log in under a different account.
-To restore your registry files manually. See below for more details.

On your heart that could get broken: have you considered using the imaging facility that is integrated with Windows 7? You can find it in the control panel / backup and restore. This is somewhat marginal in the feature and it can be finicky, but it saved my butt several times.

You can restore your registry files manually to a previous point through the steps described below. The process is complex and requires some careful typing. Ask a computer-savvy friend to help you if you lack experience in this field. Note that it may reset your password to a previous value.
    1. keep tapping F8 during the first phase of startup.
    2. Select repair in the menu that looks like this:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode
3 log in as administrator if you are prompted.
    4. Select repair when prompted.
    5. Select the command line in the menu that looks like this:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7
    6. identify the correct drive letter for your Windows installation. It could be one drive other than c, but it will not X:. You do this by typing commands
    DIR C:\Win*
    Dir D:\Win*
    dir E:\Win*
until you find the Windows folder.
    I'll call this "Q:" drive
    7 type these commands:
    CD /d Q:\windows\System32\config
    xcopy *. * Q:\MyRegBack\
    CD RegBack
    dir
    8. review the dates of the software, system, and SAM files. The files created before or after that is your problem?
    9. If they were made before the problem appeared, you can then type these commands:
    copy software / y...
    /y copy system...
    /y copy Sam...
(the two points are part of each order)
    10. restart normally. If things don't work then you can go back by copying files from the original register of Q:\MyRegBack to Q:\Windows\System32\config.

Yes, the product number would be helpful.  Please do not provide the serial number, however.

I think that your problem is perhaps that the monitor is not compatible with Win 8.1.  The only available updates are for Win XP and Vista.  You can find this information in the link that I provided in the article titled "Software Update".

  • Satellite A105-S4114 - black screen, maybe the heating problem?

    Hey all

I'm new to the Board and I really hope that someone can help me with my computer problems.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4114. In the last week or so, it started to get a black screen. If I m in the middle of watching a video, the sound would just go to a repetitive tone (very annoying sound) and the screen freezes completely.

He sometimes goes to a black screen. The screen is not black as if the CPU is off but it's dark and nothing is displayed. This occurs when the computer has been for a little. I have had it over 2 hours now, and if this problem persists, it will happen more frequently. I've updated all the software and windows xp. Some people tell me that my motherboard is dying and I can't do anything, but some people say maybe it's an overheating problem.

The vent on the left hand does not always give off light, but the laptop gets hot enough. Is it possible that my fan is dying? In the case of this "black screen", the computer is not power down and for this reason, I ve people had told me that he is not an overheating problem.

    Any ideas?

Help, please. I sprayed the CPU down to the dust, and it has gotten a little better. I hold hope that I don't need to buy a replacement right away. I've had this for about 3 years.

    Thank you, Danny.

    Hey mate,

I think that for the moment no one can really say what the reason, but I also think it might be an overheating problem and you should start cleaning your laptop first. The point is that if the laptop is overheated (e. g. graphics card), you might get a black screen, freezes or your laptop stops immediately. So if please try to clean and follow these instructions: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD7A01ZZ000AR01.htm

Of course it could also be a motherboard problem but the laptop cleaning is cheaper and quicker ;)

All of a sudden my 'to-do bar' (the black band at the bottom of the screen) became really wide.  It was 1/2 inch (or 1 centi meters), but now almost 2 inches wide (or 5 hundred meters). She takes down 1/4 of the screen! I must have hit some button to cause this?   How to make the 'taskbar' how it was (to make it close)?  Please help me.  Thank you in advance.

To make smaller or larger, you can place the mouse cursor on the top edge of the taskbar. Make sure that the taskbar is unlocked by right-clicking on the taskbar and if you deselect the option "lock the taskbar". This will allow the bar tasks to move freely. The mouse cursor will change to 2 arrow keys. Click and hold the left mouse button while on the 2 arrows keys and make the mouse upward or down to increase or decrease the size of the taskbar respectively.

It looks like one or more of the boot loader files has been corrupted.

You need access to a PC for this phase of work in order to create the necessary support to fix your PC boot loader.

You will need to create something called a CD-ROM of repair of Win7. This will repair the boot loader files, and if that is the problem, your PC will start OK after that.  Yes, it's for Win7, but Vista uses the same bootstrapper, so you can use Win7 to repair the Vista bootloader files.

The file you need can be obtained (with supplement) from this link: http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/

When you download this file, it will be an ISO file.

To make a CD bootable it, you will need to download and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/

Once you have installed, run, select the option "Save image to disk file" and select the downloaded ISO file and that it points to a blank CD.

To make a USB bootable of it, you will need to download and install RUFUS: https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Once you have that, it is executed in the input of the unit, use the drop down menu to select the USB stick.  Near the bottom right, where is written 'Create a bootdisk to aid', select the ISO file downloaded.
    -------------------------------------

Boot from the media that you have created and follow the instructions in this link: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html

You will probably need to run Startup Repair three times for him to fix all the boot loader.

Once completed, your PC should start OK.

If it isn't, then some files of the operating system has also been corrupted and the only way to fix it would be to perform a system recovery - which if F11 does not work, but a recovery from the PC to its original using recovery media state.

Problem there is that HP no longer wears a recovery media for the Vista PC, so you should check to see if these sites still have it: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

    Good luck

  • Desktop does not - black screen with the cursor and access to Task Manager

Well, I played recent MMO and to do this, I had to update my sound drivers and graphics. I managed to finish my first uninstall all the old drivers-flawless and it worked perfectly thereafter with no video issues (that I had before the uninstall, but nothing harmful to the system). Eventually however, I started to get some pop ups Windows 2008 C++ REDIS saying that atieclxx.exe had asked to be terminated in an unusual way. No problem, I close the error message and everything always works as it should. No random crashes.

My problem is that wermgr.exe (I am fairly certain that this is the title, but I did not work right now), began leaving me with a black screen and the cursor when I connect. In most cases, I can open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete, however, it sometimes won't start, and when I start to kill unnecessary tasks, they take some time to die. I know that black screens are often a defective start of explorer.exe, which manages office and file, browsers so I use the Task Manager to run it and it dies or continues to do nothing without making the office. Whenever this happens, wermgr.exe was running (Windows error handler). When I kill this task, which often has duplicates, I can finally get explorer.exe to load. I have the same problem with safe mode, except that the display shows the version of windows and the details in each corner until explorer.exe load finally. I've also had freezing issues long whenever Werfault.exe jump upward and the only thing that those fixed has been disable Werfault.exe in the services menu.
It is clear to me that the windows error reporting programs consume a lot of the capacity of the CPU of my computer and they are probably the source of the biggest problems I'm having. I should stop start, or they are just neutral, awakened by a bigger problem?
On a smaller note, C++ error is probably due to me not having is not the correct edition of the redistributable C++ installed, or perhaps too many distributions. The last edition, I have installed is 10.0.40219 of the x 86 and x 64 redistributable and runtimes (2010). Are the oldest, I installed some updates ATL and 5 2005 Redistributable (2 x 64 versions). Atieclxx.exe is the program having the pop-ups demand 'unusual termination. " The version of my ATI Radeon drivers are included in Version 2012.1116.1515.27190 of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center.
Now, finally, I think it's useless, I'll give you my specs:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit
Processor: AMD Athlon TF-20, 1.60 GHz
    RAM: 3.00 GB
    Model: Acer Aspire 5534
    BIOS: InsydeH2O V1.12
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 3200, using aticfx64.dll and aticfx32.dll
I do not believe that a reinstallation is necessary, because I got my computer in good enough condition that I can write this message and use it as usual, however, it's a nuisance to do, because it requires waiting a few minutes while the wermgr.exe process is stopped by the Task Manager.

HiJack This help "fix selected", I removed the SmartShopper and BHO entry no name, as well as a few more suspicious looking files and those to the left of the old installs (windowblinds). I also deleted all entries in ø16 because I didn't need them and didn't like their operation. Then, I deleted two mistakes of R3, who looked extremely suspicious.

    IT'S FIXED NOW!
I restarted and connected to be greeted with my office. The second csrss.exe is still underway, and atieclxx.exe works well as well. Although they appear to be the cause of the problem, because I am intimately familiar with the process of my computer, it is also clear that many of the comes from problems of registry and the programs that I have only half managed to uninstall. I hope this helps people to the problem in the future, and if my problem recur soon, I will return to this article with more information.
As a final note, I was extremely impressed with HiJack this, because I used it for the first time in order to solve this problem. He kindly explained to me why he alerted me and what kind of problems listed that would cause a lot of things helped me to decide what to remove. Now I know why divert this is recommended everywhere on the internet as a diagnostic tool.
To not appear as an advertising bot, but it's the tool that solved my problem for this, I have it suggests. in any case, good luck and I hope you can fix this problem yourself. With the help of google, an open mind and careful decision making, it is possible to solve anything. I do not recommend using a shotgun to do so ;)
  • Why Windows 7 setting would deliver a black screen with the cursor visible before you load the Office?

I had a very unusual event this morning.  I am running Windows 7 on a desktop computer.  On startup, I reached the login screen and proceeded to connect to my name.  Prior to loading the desktop computer, however, I was in a black screen with the cursor visible.

    1. I am able to load successfully under another user ID.
    2. I am able to boot in safe mode (with networking) using my own code.
    3. I did a system restore with no luck.  The problem persists.
    4. I don't think it's a driver issue because it would affect the two IDS and who does not.
    5. I have a touch screen and the white slider moves even in the place where I touch.  (what works)

    Issues related to the:

    1. what "custom" setting would result in a shift of the display of this type?

    2. If I go to Windows 8, will I have the opportunity to 'reset' my display options?  Or it will automatically upgrade to the wrong setting?

Thank you.  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your solution.

The problem turned out to be the result of a combination of events.

    1. I did a change of media display a week ago but never restarted.
2 MS did the periodic security update that rebooted the machine overnight.
    3. the update may have actually been in the middle of the installation when I got to my machine in the morning.
    4. when the screen has not responded, I restarted manually by pressing the power button.

Ultimately, I was able to access Task Manager and found several instances of several components running.  When I "force stop" several of them, the office completed and I was in business.

I still have the wide black border around my 'Live TV' screen in Windows Media Center, but that's another question for another time.

Once again, thank you for the time spent to help me.

    Best regards

    Steve

  • iPhone 7 more stuck on black screen with the spinning wheel

How can I fix it? I tried to reset, go into DFU mode, recover from iTunes. Nothing works. I can't use iTunes because he wants me to grant access from my iPhone is not responding. DFU mode doesn't work, the screen does not any combination of seconds I hold down the buttons to. This has happened more than an hour. Should I just wait for the battery to die? Please note that I do not live in the United States or the U.K. or anywhere with an Apple Store, I can take it to.

    Thank you

Hello! I think that I may have a solution to our problem of the black screen with the circle of rotation.

I came across this post today because my iPhone all nine 7 (which I've upgraded to the latest ios) also got stuck on a black screen with the circle of rotation. I tried to update some of my apps, when suddenly the screen froze. I clicked once on the home button and the screen become black with the subsequent appearance of the circle of rotation.

I have tried everything - simultaneously press the home button and power (does not work). connected to itunes to do a restore (it won't let me not because my "find my iPhone" was turned on - but I could not turn off because my phone was insensitive).

In any case, a very useful Mr. Damon (Senior Advisor to Apple) helped me via chat to solve the problem.

    Here's what I did:

    1. make sure that your iPhone is disconnected from the socket or the computer.

    2. hold the POWER button and the VOLUME DOWN button at the same TIME. If it works, the screen should turn off almost immediately.

    3. connect your iPhone to the computer. (when I have connected to the computer, my iPhone automatically on and was ready to be reused).

The steps below are for those whose iPhones did not turn with the above steps. The following steps are designed to allow you to disable remote your 'find my iPhone', so you can do a manual restore from iTunes.

    4. go to www.icloud.com.

    5. click on Find iPhone

    6. given that the phone is turned off already, he won't be able to find it. On the top bar, click DEVICES.

    7. click on your iPhone.

    8. click on "delete account".

    9. go into your itunes and do a restore.

I did have to do steps 4 to 9 more, because as I said, my iPhone automatically activated after step 3.

This really worked for me. I hope this works for everyone else too! Have a great day!

  • Notification of Firefox at the bottom right of the screen freezes Windows 7

It seems that recently, Firefox (and maybe pop up notifications) are freezing my computer Windows 7. I used Firefox for years without this problem. In recent weeks, I noticed that system freeze seems to happen when a Firefox pop-up notification appears at the bottom right of the screen (for example Firefox 38.0.5 is available...). The mouse will continue moving the cursor on the screen for a few seconds, then that freezes at. I get no response from the keyboard, even CTRL-ALT-DEL and start button / stop fail to restart the machine. I need to remove and replace the power cord.

Hoping that Mozilla has solved the problem I updated today to 39.0 Firefox, but when a plugin of Firefox browser introduced a notification in the lower right corner of the system froze again. I don't have this problem of gel when Mozilla Thunderbird shows a notification in the bottom right of the screen (e.g. XXXXXX received 6 new messages).

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

You will need to close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your display driver graphic card and search for hardware acceleration of related issues.

  • Satellite X 205-SLi3 - black screen with the mobile mouse at startup

I have a computer laptop X 205 - Sli 3 satellite, which is a little more than a month and running windows Vista. (let me know if the exact specifications make a difference)

Yesterday morning my laptop was working fine, I arrested him at home because I need to take to work with me to get some files there. However, when I tried to turn it back on all I got was a black screen with cursor mouse mobile white dead center. I saw other posts with similar problems, but no solutions.

Loads everything up as normal at the beginning: I get the Toshiba load screen (this allows me to make changes to the boot from there with F2, F8, F12 or, but none seems to have no effect) and I get the little green loading bar of Microsoft just before the screen blinks a few times and then turns black except for the white mouse. The touchpad, Capslock and scroll lock keys * are * admissible, but the function keys and Ctrl + Alt + Delete to do * not * work. There is no way to stop the laptop at this point without maintaining the power button.

I tried to start in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, only to get exactly the same result after Windows loading bar. (only a lower resolution on this beautiful Virgin high-def screen mouse cursor). I activated the boot record, nothing, I tried to start with the "last known good configuration", nothing.

I tried windows repair options: repair system, System Restore (it * was * a windows update just before restore point in my laptop screwed up and I m wondering if that has something to do with it because it was the first time the computer was turned off since the auto update installed... but get an older restore point does not help) , as well as the windows memory diagnostic tool. Everything is displayed normally but still black screen after the loading bar Microsoft...

I also tried the debug mode, and directory services restore mode just for the heck of it - each time the black screen of death.

I even put in the Toshiba recovery disc and put my laptop to boot from the CD rather than the HD (it gives me the same options by pressing F8 and go to repair are starting only I didn't have to put my admin password)

The only thing I can think that I n t done is format my whole hard drive, I know that this is not always a solution, and I prefer to keep all my school and work files if possible. Fortunately I am able to get into the command prompt BACK and some of the most important things am copy on a USB key, but I'll still probably lose all my programs and larger files.

    Someone had a similar problem?
If so, what was the solution?
I would call all technical support, but I won't have time until after the new year to spend on the phone and I have a feeling that their solution will be to format and use the recovery disc.

Man, such an expensive machine and then all this work of wouldn because of some software sh... So, if you have backed up your most important files, then, I would _recommend_ you to recover your machine. Won´t solve you anything just trying to find the error, believe me, you'll go nuts.

Just put the recovery in the drive and start the process of "delete-all-my-programs-but-protect-my-nerves-and-make-everything-OK".
