Unwanted desktop bar

Blue bar 'Files' appeared on the left side of my desk. I have tried several things to get rid of him, but without success > someone has suggestions.

Hi Paul,.

What do you see in this folder bar? Try to right click and select close toolbar or he just stay in the background? Try restarting your computer in clean boot mode in order to understand what is the cause. Reference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353 about how to clean boot win xp.

I hope this helps.

I can't get rid of an unwanted side bar, this is a site that I had listed on my toolbar bookmark (?) in the top of my page.

This problem occurs more often when you clicked on a link on a website to bookmark the site. Do not click on "bookmark this site" or a similar link/button on web sites.

To correct each of the affected bookmarks, make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is selected/checked by doing one of the following:

    • Open the Favorites bar (Ctrl + B to open or close the bookmarks bar), right-click on the offending bookmark, choose 'Properties', last question at bottom above the buttons ' Save/Close.
    • In the library window (bookmarks > show all bookmarks), click on the offending bookmark, click on the button "More" at the bottom of the details (right-hand) pane, item is the last item above the word "lower to."

You can just leave them alone.  They tell Windows how to display records.

You can open them in Notepad if you're curious & want to have a look inside of them.

If you don't show hidden or system files, you won't even notice them.

How can I remove the unwanted?

Problem solved, I didn't actually, there were 2 address book and I was able to remove an address of thugs and all his friends. We think that the more I ask you something I asked before and has not been resolved.

Thanks a lot for your answer Spędy but none of the above may have worked my explanation came badly.

All the icons on the desktop are very well is the long black bar at the bottom of the screen the icons on it for example. Messenger icon, time, date all these were grouped in 1 corner and the real as black bar now double thickness, I hope it's meaning

Ok. This is called the taskbar.
Is this more or less what you see?

If so, it is because the bar somehow tasks are unlocked, and someone ' one/something inappropriate the separator all the way to the right. If all the icons are concentrated at all.
You also have questions about the thickness of the taskbar, like mine. Yes?

    RE: icons in boots together:
Place your cursor on the separator > cursor turns into a 2 pointer > left click and HOLD > drag the slider to the left where is the Start button > once there, drop the prey
Note: do not "lock" the taskbar again.

RE: taskbar are thicker than normal.
I prefer this way. But if you want thin appearance > place your cursor at the very top edge of the taskbar > cursor turns into a 2 pointer > left click and HOLD > drag the pointer from the 2 down > you may have to "drag" a few times.

    RE: Lock the taskbar
Once you are satisfied with 2 above, do a right click on a space open in the taskbar > click 'lock the taskbar '.

    That's all.

I have updates, but suddenly today, when I turn on my iPad it opens to a screen that has a Volume on it control bar.  Where this come from and how do I get rid of him?

Try a forced reboot. Hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. You won't lose anything. It opens like this when you play something.

  • When I click on the firefox icon on my desktop bar or menu that I choose the program you want to use to open file (firefox.exe) (also that with IE as well)

When I click on the Firefox icon to open a new window I get a pop operation telling me to choose a program to open the file. Same thing with Internet explorer. However, when I go to the window new file, I am able to open a new window.

    Please download

restore your default exe file association and try

    • Download
    • Run it
    • Yes > Yes > ok

  • White white icons on the desktop, bar of tasks & files

So as the title says, most of my shortcut icons is turned to 'record' white icons by default. This happened after a certain program called Registry Booster crashed Mid-process. Uniblue support recommended to restore the backup of the registry of the RB itself or a system restore. I tried both and it does not solve the issue. (OS: Windows 7 Ultimate)

Since then, I scoured the web for a solution and have tried the fixes suggested elsewhere. Among those who are the parameters manually, shortened reconstruction iconcache.db and using an integrated Windows spell bug (the name escapes me now), nothing is. I also tried an installation (well, 'upgrade' as they say now) repair of the BONE, which did nothing.

To be more specific about the problem, all shortcuts pointing to files of application or files turn to 'white sheets', as seen here: http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/4510/screenztx.png trash icon is normal for any reason whatsoever, and all shortcuts pointing to a file (for example, .pdf or .mp3) also look good. To be clear, all of the shortcuts function , it's just the appearance which is buggy.

It seems that the fault must lie somewhere in the registry, but I'm not familiar enough with it to know where exactly. So if someone could suggest one alternative other than wiping the drive clean (I don't have a handy external HD, so I'm not looking forward to burning 20 DVDs for all of my files...), it would be greatly appreciated :)

Reconstruction IconCache.db worked for me, if I stop the first Explorer (it did not for me if I don't): http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/d5efec0c-e967-4127-b217-15da34d7fb00/icon-problem-in-windows-7?forum=w7itproui

Here are the steps that I followed this post:

    • DEL /a IconCache.db
    • Shutdown /r

  • My firefox has built about 1500 toolbars of unwanted bookmarks

When I open the bookmarks the browser is going to does not and displays then the following message

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger or let the script.

    Script: chrome://browser/content/places/browserPlacesViews.js:271

hen he finally comes back he produced some 1500 'Bopokmarks toolbars.

I tried many methods to get rid of what uninstalling Firefox for at least 1 month, but on the resettlement, the same problem is there. I would like to continue using Firefox, but in these circumstances cannot

What can be done to remedy the situation

    1. User.js is an optional file that is located in your profile folder. Use the help > troubleshooting information-> Application Basics - profile folder - folder show to get your profile folder. Then right click on this file as the use of open with Notepad (or Wordpad). Note: some malware create / install a user.js without the user's knowledge and it's something that we give for displaying more 'system details' that comes with a new thread questions.
    2. Unless you manually delete the profile folder when you uninstall Firefox, it will be picked up again when you re-install Firefox. You will probably have 'problems' that you had when you decided to stop using Firefox and got rid of the program to uninstall files.
    3. For sure many bookmarks in Firefox toolbar folders, you have a massive corruption of 'something' - probably the places.sqlite file where are stored favorites. We recently saw the eruption of corruption BTB threads involving Sync can involve 'mobile', which is Firefox for Android - that is why I asked to Sync 'mobile '. Synchronization treats a little differently to 'office' Firefox 'mobile' - a smart phone screen is too narrow to have a favorites like "desktop" bar / can manage screens of portable computers. And he can think that the 'problem' is with Sync, at least partially. With your mobile devices using Safari we can scratch that as a contributing factor.

One device with what looks like the favorite file system corruption.

Install and run the extension of Maintenance of places.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
Many times it is able to clear up a problem like that, but I don't remember not 1500 bookmarks, toolbars in being never talked before. Typical with the BTB is multiplied is less than 10 best of what I've seen posted here.

  • Just restarted my desktop XP computer and have to pan [drag to edge] to see it all.

How this happen - I've changed nothing--same used flat screen monitor.

Monitor is set at its resolution [native] max.

I tried to lower the screen settings, but problem still exists and desktop bar on the right does not reach the bottom and bottom taskbar does extend all the way to the right.

How can I configure the screen [windows] to match the screen?  [I have it stuck under performance and Maintenance in the best category]

  • No tasks or icons bar

Original title: computer starts normally, but shows only the background, no desktop bar or tool/task appear, no keys work, can't do anything.

I tried safe mode, all I get is a black screen with the SafeMode in each corner, well stuck!

Unable to acess anthing to try to solve this problem

Do a system restore. Choose the date when there was not this problem as your restore point.
    How to restore the system:

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

Note: In most cases, do it in safe mode system restore is more preferable.
Here's how to get safe mode:

Shut down your computer > turn it back on and immediately and repeatedly tab key F8 until you see a black and white screen. The top/down arrow and select Safe Mode.

  • Lack of Vista Ultimate Office Top - bar for shortcut menu?

I recently reinstalled my Vista Ultimate 64-bit version.

After the reinstallation, a useful desktop bar is missing and I could not find how to get it back. This bar is actually on the desktop, used as a shortcut toolbar above (not sure if the terminology is correct) that has been used for a medium-high to launch applications (e.g. MS office), media (DVD, Windwow media player), internet and others. I love this function return and can someone guide me how to restore? I had with me original installation disks, but can not find them that features.

    Can someone help me?

    Thanks in advance.
