  I see that others have had this problem in the past. Have the file for 8.10. Create the floppy using the drive in the docking station. Start using the F12 key. Disconnected. Any installed PC cards.   Laptop must be in boot mode and not recovery mode, and remove any PC cards.

  How can I update the BIOS:
  Just take a 1.4 MB 3 1/2 floppy (not bootable is) and unzip the files.
  Turn off the machine, turn it on by pressing the F12 or for
  latest machines, the left of the space bar, and the rest is automatic.

  It is best to unplug all devices while doing the update.
  Make sure that the machine is not in the set menu of LAN. This could erase your EPROM.

  First: I can't update the BIOS (current usage, 1.50 there, I want to update to 1.60). Instruction does not work: I connect Teac USB into USB port, turn on the USB - FDD emulation to activate, portable switch with pressed F12, the message «Ready to update BIOS...» "appears, I touch in a hurry, but nothing happened. What's wrong?

  You are very lucky. You re Portege 3440CT are supported for Windows 2000.
  The best way to install the new OS is to use the original recovery CD Toshiba. If you do not have one you need to install all of the individual drivers.

  I want to update the bios of my Portege R100, I downloaded this trought this site:

  unzipped and started install2.exe but I receaved this error:

  "* [Error] BIOS update is failed. "BIOS is not able, updated on this configuration."

  Windows xp sp2
  No installed external device

  You can do an update directly in XP or make a bootable floppy or bootable CD

  If the "live update" in XP does not work, you will need at least a key-USB-fdd, most of them is easily recognized by the bios (hold F12 during startup and choose the fdd)

  Hi, I have a Portege M100 and I'm trying to update my BIOS to version 1.40 to 1.50 by using the windows update utility.
  But when it gets to the screen where it says update BIOS preparation, place appears a message saying that the user is not authorized to update BIOS?

  1 user account is only available on the pc and it's privaleges admin, using Windows XP sp2.

  The istall.exe should not breaks down and you should not update the BIOS in safe mode!
  Windows should be started and should work properly!

  After suffering a little frustration, I decided to use the wealth of knowledge and experience which is available on the support forum.

  I have a Portege 3440CT which has been delivered to my friend a few years ago, by a company she worked at the time. When the company replaced the laptop, we were allowed to keep the old, we use very occasionally.
