Update cumulative security for Internet Explorer 9 for default Windows Vista (KB2559049)

I don't seem to be the only person having this problem, but rather than to hack into another thread, I thought I should start my own.

I already installed IE9.  The IE9 update fails to install via WIndows Update - it downloads, create a system restore point, but it fails with error Code 8007370 A.  Yesterday, I noted that an update of Windows Defender was also available, but it is also impossible to install.  I tried a system restore to the earliest date that I had, but it has not left my machine unbootable.  Fortunately, I was able to proceed with the restoration of the system through the recovery console.

The Windows Defender update then installed but the update to IE9 has always failed.

I tried installing the update to IE9 with my Avast Antivirus disabled, but no difference.  Also, I tried to install manually after a clean boot without success.

I see some suggestions are associated McAfee, but I don't think that I had McAfee on my system.  If I did he would have the trial version and I would have uninstalled with the removal tool.

Any suggestions welcome!

Hi Jeremy,.

Thanks much for the reply.

Before your reply I tried method 1 default mode, but was too afraid to try the aggressive mode!

Last night, I discovered on the free service supported by Microsoft for Windows Update and makes use of this.  Although techno has tried different things, looks like it was method 2 that solved the problem.

I can recommend the service to anyone who has a Windows Update problem - there are also free support for issues of virus and malware:

Yes. You need to reinstall everything- all the updates, all the
programs installed, all your data files (that you must first
back up and save on an external support).

Reinstalling Windows is a lot of work, as I said before and in my
view should never be done except when absolutely necessary.

Here's an excerpt from my standard post on this topic:
You must restore all backups of your data, you must reinstall all
your programs, you must reinstall all Windows and application
updates, you must locate and install all the drivers needed to
your system, you must recustomize Windows and all your applications to work
the way you are comfortable with.

In addition to all these things being long and painful, you can
have trouble with some of them: you will find all your CDs application?
You will find all the necessary installation codes? Do you have any data
backups to restore? Do you remember yet all customizations and
tweaks can be installed to make everything work the way that you
    as?

So, again, sometimes must do. But if you do not have
    to
, I highly recommend that you do not have.
