As the topic above, I would like to ask which is the highest compatible with the dimension 2400 processor?

The Teddy

The Dimension 2400 can use 400 MHz or 533 MHz, Socket 478, P - 4 Northwood or Celeron processor with a 512 k or more small cache.

The maximum size of the processor is a Socket 478 Northwood P4 3.06 GHz, 533 MHz FSB processor.

The 2400 will not take Prescott processors [1 MB cache].

Before upgrading the processor, make sure that the latest version of the BIOS is installed with BIOS version A03, CPU microcode update has been added in support of the latest processors.

    Hey guys,.

I recently took a C521 and I spent reviewing the forums here for a while looking to upgrade my system.

What I found so far has been really helpful! So far, I ordered:

    AMD Athlon X 2 3 GHz Windsor

    2 GB of RAM

I have an old hard drive that I will modernize and perhaps a boot in the future SSD drive.

The only problem that I face is getting a video card that will be ok with the system!

I was watching a NVIDIA GT630, which is low profile, but I don't know if this is a good card, or if it will draw much power over the stock power supply.

Anyone has good card recommendations or advice they could give me it please?

    Thank you very much!

A lot of cards Low profile will not physically go let alone work with a power of 250W. The ASUS EAH5450 works in all models except USFF.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814121365

That's why they put 25W max on the machine video slot for many low profile systems.

    .

You cannot use such a THICK card. That's why Dell cards are fanless.

The Dimension 4600 supports up to 4 GB (4 x 1 GB modules) RAM DDR, but can only send 3 gb - + of it due to the 32-bit operating system:

  • Dell Dimension 8200 Memory Upgrade after upgrade the processor

    Hello

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 (shipping date is 01/05/2002) which came with a FSB of 400. I've recently updated the its origianl 1.8 GHz a 2.4 GHz processor.  I understand that the 8200 with a FSB of 400 can use 800-40ns or 800-45ns memory sticks (I think that mine came with 800-45).  I intend to upgrade memory 1 GB to 4 X 512 (2GB), I installed (4 X 256).  My question is when I went to buy the 4 X 512 memory, said the pub, it could be used in a 8200 with a 2.1 GHz CPU or less.  I have a 2.4 GHz chip. Is that going to be a problem?

    Rbatleman,

Great question!  When the Dimension 8200 was released the processor speed max was 2.1 ghz (probably why the memory you were viewing had this label).   We have updated later to the processor 2.4 ghz when it was available.  The two units came with the PC800-45 (400 mhz) memory, you should run into any problems with this memory.  Keep in mind the system supports only the RIMM modules that contain devices memory of 4, 8 or 16.  I hope this helps!

  • I have a Dell Dimension 4500 Windows XP Pro SP 2. I have a new installation disk. Windows Update will not work and Microsoft Update will not work either. What Miss me?

    Pentium 4 CPU

Win XP Pro - SP 2

    Dell Dimension 4500

If it will not download from this link on your PC, try another and just use a USB key to copy on you and then run it. Once installed SP 3, and then the fun begins because there are about 100 + updates after her.

    AGP123

The 8300 should take most of the processor socket 478, max 3.4 GHz Northwood or Prescott processor.

Note: The first 8300 systems are limited to 2.8 GHz, but those built at the end of 2003, can take the fastest processors, with a BIOS upgrade to version A07.

A Socket 478, P4 3.4GHz processor will work only if your 8300 was built after December 2003 and with an upgrade of the BIOS to A07 version, if it was built before that, 3.4 GHz processor would clock up to 2.8 GHz.

Better to buy a Northwood as the Prescott processor is running more hot.

  • Update the motherboard on a Dell Dimension E520

    Hello

I have a Dell Dimension E520 with an Intel Celeron 2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, Windows Vista 32 - Bit for about a year now and the speed of the processor. But with 1 core is not enough. I opened the case and found that the CPU is soldered in to the motherboard and what it is not replaceable, so I replace the motherboard with one that comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHZ. My question is what can I replace the motherboard on it and what kind of specifications of the motherboard will work with Dell Dimension E520.

Nope.  Intel chips use different chipsets and different the SB of AMD processor sockets.  If your computer is equipped with an AMD processor you must upgrade with an AMD processor.

I have no noise ran restore disc have everything clean and now I have no audio / suggestions?
It is a dell dimension 4700 with windows xp home edition installed.

Bill Smithers is OK... but my experience has been that the list of drivers on the Dell site for sound is confusing because they often have more than one driver.   Download you the driver from Dell and it does not work, and they have another one, try the other.

It seems that this computer is so old that Dell isn't fully can't stand it anymore.  Pages that appear to relate to your system in a generic way, all seem to suggest that you have added a new video card, at least his new card and perhaps other devices.  You can search the drivers for those devices on the websites of their respective manufacturers.

  • DELL DIMENSION E510, using Windows XP

I've damaged my video driver my screen shows limited colors and shows only very large print. The display is connected to a DVI video card. Is there a way I can get a CD containing the driver that went with my system?

Data transfer is easy.  You cannot transfer applications.

Dimension 5150/E510 HJ054 motherboard Bios A07 works without any problem with Pentium D up to 945.  The Dell J8885 KF623 RD203 will make you press F1 to continue.  They will stop with processor is with prior to version A07 bios. The BIOS A07 also passes the Vista Upgrade Advisor scan.  It is therefore recommended for 7 and 8 and 10.

The Pressler Smithfield vs can do LAHF and SAHF as well as CMPExchange16 which means that it works very well if you have a Pentium 900 series D.  This means that you can run 64-bit windows 7, 8 or 10 very well.  RAM can be used Max will always be 3.25 GB regardless of cpu or os to 64-bit or not.  There is a limit of chipset.

The 5150/E510 for this (with caveats such as Bios A07 and the radiator copper Heatpipe exactly the same thing that the GX620. 0HJ054 Version of motherboard supports Pentium D without problem until 945.) When you upgrade to the latest version of the bios and use the copper radiator performance equipped with a pentium D 915 until 945 you can install 64-bit 8.1 win or win 10.  The pentium D and radiator are very cheap.

You need a specific version of the motherboard however to cross press it F1 to continue.

3.25 GB of ram is the maximum regardless of the operating system in 64-bit or 32-bit. With its 3.5 GB GX620.

The max ram that you can publish with a GX320 is less than 4 gigs aka 2.5 gigs or 3 concerts.

8.0 works but 64 bits 8.1 and 10 requires CMPXCHG16b EAP, NX, SSE2, 64-bit, PrefetchW, LAHF/SAHF.  Regardless of the operating system, the max ram is 3.5 concerts due to the limitation of the chipset and INTEL graphics card.

Adding a PCI-E video card does not pick up the ram.
