Update disk on Satellite C660D

Hi all

I'm new to this forum,
I would like to upgrade my hard drive but I don't know what to choose.
Nothing too fancy, I would like to know how to find the right one.
Is there a way that tells you that compatible, as it is for the RAM?

Help, please
Thank you in advance.
Toshiba satellite c660d pscole... hope this helps

As much as I know that is not a HDD compatibility list, but to find that good drive HARD should not be problematic. Question is: what is the reason for Exchange of HARD drive or upgrade?

You need more capacity, or you want to use the faster HARD drive and increase the performance of s for laptop?
Maybe you should think about SSD. For some basic info, check it please http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html

    Hello

No one knows what drives I can install in my M30x?
Currently, I have a 40 GB toshiba drive. I would like to know if BIOS supports more than 80 GB drives.
    Thank you!

    Hello

Well, I quite agree with the position of the user of the comments above.
If you use a disk HARD with size is not compatible if the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive successfully.
You must use the HARD drive with the size of the support.
But in your case the Satellite M30X should support 40 GB HARD disk sizes / 60 GB and 80 GB 5400 RPM and a size of 100 GB HARD drive at 4200 RPM.

    Hello Belinda,.

You should be able to change your laptop HARD drive without using an ESD wrist strap. It is worth "land" yourself in any case to make sure that you don't carry a lot of static accumulation, but a wrist strap is really required only when working close to RAM or graphics or advice chips.

I don't know exactly where the HARD drive is on your laptop, but if there is no immediately obvious on the bottom access panel and the edges of the device, it can be accessed in the optical drive (the A30 Satellite for this), under the keyboard, or under the battery.

Don't gorget you need to transfer the caddy Assembly to the new drive and remove/replace the drive with caution to avoid damaging the pins.

    Good luck

  • Update disk on Satellite Pro L10

I've got a L10 Pro of the Satellite with a MHV2040AT hard drive, which runs at 4200 RPM. Is it possible to change it to a MHV2080AH because it works at 5400 RPM?

    Hello

The speed of the HARD drive should not be a problem. Especially the 5400 RPM HARD disk are compatible.
The size of the HARD disk is more important than the speed of the HARD drive.
Your old MHV2040AT HARD drive supports a 40 GB. The new MHV2080AH supports 80GB.

Sometimes the BIOS can not recognize the HARD drive because of the large size but I think that the 80 GB HARD drive is compatible and the BIOS should recognize as well.

I don t think so. Yes SATA connector but not with ATA conector so best you can do is use new 120 GB HARD drive.

  • Satellite C660D - BIOS flash failed

I've updated the Toshiba Satellite C660D-16th (PSC20E) with BIOS version 1.60 and it updated without error. BIOS version file is DELHI10AB_10ABG_BIOS_160_WIN. When it restarts, it was empty and brick screen. I tried to find more old bios for this laptop and use wincrisis to retrieve the bios. It meets the outfit that keys FN + B while poweron without batrtery and USB drive LED flashes for a while but that is it :/

    Any ideas?

The package of v1.60 - winner of the BIOS can be downloaded here:
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-...0601184846.zip

    Unzip the package.
Then you will find the file: DELHI10AB_10ABG_BIOS_160_WIN.exe
This exe file is also a zipped package.
Right click on the exe file and select Extract here.
In the DELHI10AB_10ABG_BIOS_160_WIN folder, you will find the bios.rom and ec.rom

But I'm not sure if you Flash the BIOS once more to resolve your problem... maybe EPROM module is affected.

  • Satellite C660D-104 does not start after the BIOS update

    Hello

I installed the latest version of the bios on my computer Satellite C660D-104, but it has not restarted.

Where is the place to do a reset?

Under the ram I have any triple x or B499

I can not find, can you help me please?

    Thank you

BIOS update has not this means that the ROM module (where the BIOS is stored) isn t flashed properly.
As far as I know that this problem could be solved by flashing module ROM using Toshiba BIOS disk of the crisis.
I guess Toshiba authorized service provider to have this disc of crisis and able to reflash the ROM

  • Satellite C660D (PSC1YE) black screen after BIOS update

I tried to update my Bios on my Satellite C660D portable (psc1YE) last week (big mistake).

Something went wrong during the update and now when I power on I just get a black screen (LEDS and fan).

After reviewing, the conclusion is that I damaged the BIOS that must now be blind flashed.
So I got the hand on a 512MB memory stick, formatted using FAT through windows XP and used Wincris to create a startup disk after you have added the file bios.rom (renamed Bios.wph) which I extracted the last update of the BIOS on the Toshiba site.

My memory stick has three visible files on it, Phlash16.exe, bios.wph and minidos.
I plug laptop with battery, DVD player and power disconnected to stick, and hold Fn + B re-connection cable cable, turn it on.

The fan whirs at full speed, and the USB lights up and flashes then for a minute, as if being read. No matter how long I let on, the fan will continue whirring and the USB is on and when I unplug and put in still works a black screen.

I tried different sticks, (up to 4 GB with FAT32 format), programs of different startup (for example, the HP utility) drive but still no luck.

Can someone tell me what I do wrong? I tried to look for a newer version of Phlash16 just in case that was the problem, but can not find one any where (mine is version 2008)

All advice would be greatly appreciated even if it's just to tell me that I'm wasting my time because the pc is not repairable.

I can't tell you if you waste your time or not because I n know if the motherboard ROM module is OK or not

In most cases, it should be possible to reflash the ROM module using the BIOS crisis disk but this disc is available to authorized Toshiba service technicians and as much as I know reflash this methods is not always the same

However, in some cases it might be possible that the mobo could not be fixed by disk crisis, it would be the worst case

I recommend you to contact a certified maintainer Toshiba to check guys would be able to use the crisis disk and could test whether its possible to reflash the module ROM
Is it not would be not possible well in this case you would need new motherboard :(
But lets hope do ' t you need...

    Best regards

    Hey Buddy,

This confusion of s and something is wrong here Java version 20 is not available. Latest Java version is version 6 and 27 update. You can download Java 6 Update 27 here:
    http://www.Java.com/en/download

Is not necessary to uninstall the old version, just start the configuration file and that s it.

    Then, I have two questions:
    1. Why do you want to update your Java version?
    2. why can you install a more recent? You get an error message?

  • Re: Satellite C660D - 10 d - problems with updates of drivers

    Greetings from Greece

    We bought a toshiba Satellite C660D - 10 d. It came with windows7 64-bit.
After the windows installation and updates of windows updates, that I entered toshiba for updating readers, some of them was not installed.

Then, the internet was very slow so I did a Hijack this scan to see what is happening.
I discovered that many services that had to do with system32 is missing files.

So first, I can post a HJT log for you, so if possible you can explain why this happens and you drivers that I could not update the list?
I have also another question to u... can you please tell me how to work the bluetooth on the system?
I hope you understand my questions because my English are not so good,

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

If the automatic driver update didn't work properly, then try downloading the drivers only manually and try the update again.
You can find all the drivers on the European driver Toshiba page.
But why update drivers if laptop running ok? I think that it s is not necessary if you have no problems.

    > can u please tell me how to work the bluetooth on the system?
This laptop is not compatible Bluetooth

    Hello

This means the card WLAN is not listed in Device Manager?
Some unknown device is listed in Device Manager?

To be honest, this issue is not known to me but if it please try to set the BIOS to default settings and check again.
I put t know if this will help but you can back up all your data and install again recovery image to check if the same problem persists with the factory settings.
