  I tried to install KB2563894 in Windows Update and get the code 80070020.  I followed all of the info on aid and searched the forums without help.  I contacted officials of 3 Ms.  2 says to reload Windows and 1 said just hide.  I thought I would try the forum before I reload Win.

  I tried Safe Mode.  WU would not even run.

  I tried a clean boot.  Same mistake.

  I disabled the AV and firewall.  Same mistake.

  I tried the Fixit.  Same mistake.

  An officer ran sfc/scannow, who said there were mistakes, but that fixed it.  Same error, though.

  I tried to download and install it manually. Same mistake.

  I reinstalled components WU.  Same mistake.

  I checked the log:

  An another 4371 changing away from staging.

  4374 package is not applicable to this system of 2 times

  7040 install changed to auto-start

  Update change 4372 solved

  4383 Changing 2563894-4 with the same-5 and-6

  7040 install changed at the beginning of the request

  4375 couldn't change solved 5 times

  I spent about 4 hours with them and ended up with the solution "hide update".  I noticed 1 agents tried to delete a registry with KB2653894 entry in it, but that he could not because of permissions.  I googled how to set permissions and remove all references to this KB.  He then installed correctly.

  2 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

  You are supposed to try it in "Safe Mode with network"; not 'Safe Mode'.

  You need a cable connection; no wireless using this method.

  as noted above, the kb2633171 of security update will not install on my computer used windows vista laptop. I had mcafee installed since the first day (it came with the pc). He continues saying failed in the history of updates with the error code 80070020. When I restart the pc, it says that it cannot configure the update and it is up to the old settings.

  I ran the fix it and aggressive to solve this problem, no luck :-(
