I have a new desktop computer with windows 7 Professional. I downloaded Microsoft's XP mode. Whenever we start the installation, it will fail at the last step of the installation process. Several times we ran the installation program. We tried to re-download the software. Always the same result. Setup has failed. Any suggestions?
-Temporarily disable your anti-virus utility.
-Also, make sure you install Windows Virtual PC before installing Windows XP mode.

Error code 0 x 80248014 when you try to run MSE Update on Vista 64 bit OS
Tomb guard Windows Update crashes when you try to run the Service Pack 1 for Vista 64 even if it seems to have installed service pack when I view installed updates. Update the window continues to show the service pack update according to availability. So far, I ran it three times and he shows as installed three days in a row, but he does not appear in the properties view and continues to show an available update when I check for updates.
It's a little confusing because the error code 0 x 80248014 appears when you try to update to MSE, so there seems to be two issues. The MSE error one and two, the apparent success of the installation of the Service pack 1 for 64 bit Vista Home Premium but not appear in the properties view and always appear when checking for updates, even if each attempt to install appears to be successful.

I have just updated to Windows 7 and when I try to run a backup they fail.
I have just updated to Windows 7 and when I try to run a backup they fail. It seems that whenever a program tries to update the external HARD disk where backups reside it requires administrator permissions.
Looking at the options Microsoft suggest that their user account control system is not supported by my version of SyncToy. What can I do? I'm looged administrator
As you have installed SyncToy until you have created the required permissions, uninstall SyncToy, reboot, then reinstall SyncToy.

I use an Asus laptop and have used the Asus recovery cd.I just replaced the old HD (500 gb) as it failed with a 750 GB HD.I tried the SP1 upgrade to SP2 and this causes a "catastrophic failure".Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank youSamThanks for the support. I got the Asus machine this morning and they have corrected the problem in a few minutes by running a short script. In my view, that it is a common problem with Asus and Western Digital HD. Anyway congratulations to Asus. Here, after the service is impressive.
