  Service Pack 1 is a prerequisite for installing Service Pack 2. It could be the Service Pack 2 for some other day.

  I'm running Windows 7 x 64. My computer was initially using Vista. Some time ago, I upgraded my Dell XPS M1530 to Windows 7. I use Microsoft Security Essentials.   Download updates very well, but after that, they fail to install immediately. It seems to go so fast that he does not even try to install downloaded updates. I did everyting for repair/upgrade to update / save the components associated with the windows updates and microsoft Setup. I also deleted the cache update and downloaded fresh copies of the updates, but still no instlal. I even did a repair install on xp at a given time. The machine had a malware infection, but I healed part, including purging the master boot record and wiping the boot sector. I am really puzzled at that time and any direction would be greatly appreciated.

  2. press on the Windows key + X > click (Admin) command prompt and then type "wuauclt.exe /updatenow.
