  Trying to solve these problems with the Windows Update program hanging, I tried to do the update KB951847.  In my history of update, it says that the update failed.  The error code is 80010108.  It is possible that the operation has failed because I killed updated reflection, he had hung as it does (the white window, swirling circle problem).

  I fixed my update problem (thank you!)  I also installed SP 2.  However, I still haven't updated .NET.  In fact, I have not even a 3.5 on my computer folder.  I tried looking for the .NET version numbers I have, but the mcorelib.dll file appears only in the 2.0.50727 folder and is 2.0.50727.4016.  So I did not have a version number for the NET 3.0 and 1.0.

  As suggested in other discussions, I downloaded the Windows Installer Cleanup program.  However, the .NET programs do not appear as a choice for removal.

  How can I get here?  Looks like I need .NET 3.5 and maybe some updates to others?  Those who what I download?

  After reading the responses to other people's problems, I tried wuauserver to stop and do the regsvr32 commands to the wu... of the dll.  I restarted the service, restarted and viola!  I was able to run updates without them hanging!  Yay!

  My computer is a HP P6110f desktop computer. It came with a Vista 64 OS which I've upgraded to a Windows 7 Home Premium.

  I tried to install all kinds of different ways but were not able to make it work.

  b. do you receive error messages when you start Microsoft Office Outlook?

  If you have a problem only in the Office Update installation, then I suggest you to report your problem in the Office Discussion groups. If not, try download office update from the link below and install it in clean boot mode.

  To enter the mode of clean boot of your computer, follow these steps.
  1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
   
  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
   
  2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
  3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
  4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
  5. click on OK.
  6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
  7. after starting the computer, install the update.
