Update / migration ACS 4.1 to 4.2
I have a few questions about the migration of a Windows ACS server.
Currently we are running on ACS 4.1 / output 4.1 Build 23 (1)
We have a contract of active support for the ACS 4.1 (CSACS - 4.1 - WIN - K9).
Now, we want to switch to ACS 4.2 but it with some remarks.
(1) we need to upgrade our contract to CSACS - 4.2 - WIN - K9?
(2) if we have improved the contract can we download the new software ACS 4.2 of the CEC or do we need to buy the CD?
(3) we want to install the ACS 4.2 with all latest patches on a new server, so, too, that this will be a new IP address.
(4) do we need copy all data from ACS 4.1 to 4.2 this thanks to a restoration or a database sync of ACS 4.1?
(5) by using an eval for ACS 4.2 and the upgrade version then licensed 4.2 ACS needs an eval version uninstall? I read this on the discussion on: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/1002944?tstart=900
For point 4), I found that we first have to ACS18.104.22.168 before progressing on the path ACS4.2.X is that correct?
If anyone can answer this question, it would be great.
(1) there is no need to upgrade your contract, you are entitled to GBA 4.2 If you have a valid contract for ACS 4.1.
(2) you will need to open a TAC case and get the software published for you, you don't need to buy anything.
(3) that is fine, install a new copy of ACS 22.214.171.124 and then import your 4.1 backup base. After that, you can improve the new 126.96.36.199 ACS ACS patch 3. 188.8.131.52 ACS patch and 184.108.40.206.3 ACS are available on cisco.com here:
(4) No., you can restore a 220.127.116.11 database in 18.104.22.168.
(5) as you want to go with a new installation and upgrade of the database I want to uninstall the Eval before installing 22.214.171.124.

I've updated to Firefox / Thunderbird. Since then, open Thunderbird gives the Council-information update Thunderbird 38 main screen. By clicking on the label of upgrade/migration has no effect. I can't enter the program Thunderbird itself. No other versions are running. It's my wife's cell phone.

Fearly disappointed with Cisco ACS team development, there are still problems with the upates (as it always has).
I see in the support tools that this bug was listed as status: fixed.
It has not listed 'released fixed' and describes the Bug, only a work around (any difficulty) tool.
Does anyone have an idea what this "status: fixed" contains?

We had just the same thing happen to our ACS. I thought that I would update the secondary ACS first... just to be sure there is no problem. Teaching secondary, to update with no problems. So I thought that I was go to go on the primary... no! The system crashed. Thank God, I made a backup before the upgrade. I opened a TAC and they sent me the above discussion. They even said it's just not all the time. Cisco's thanks for the warning! So I asked to have my TAC shipped the next morning to help with the reimage and back all on line and never had a call or email for assistance.
My current environment:
ESXi 4.1 with vSphere Essentials 2. A virtual machine running vCenter.
I just bought a new server as a third host and want to update my 5.1 environment, keeping the functions of vCenter on one of the original hosts.
With 5.1 having a device available, there is a way to migrate a computer virtual 4.1 to 5.1 unit? Is there an advantage gained by the use of the device, rather than just upgrading the virtual machine 4.1 and 5.1?
All hardware, software, and licensing requirements are met, then it is a matter of best practices and the path options.
Yes you need a 5.1 vCenter - either the device or upgrade your vCenter existing or have a new installation of vCenetr 5.1.

I'm at the next step in our upgrade of 9.3.3 188.8.131.52 and ready to migrate our planning applications. I have read many of the posts related to it and have a general list of the steps, but I have a slightly different situation than what I've seen posted before.
To summarize, we have installed 184.108.40.206 on new servers. Our old 9.3.3 is still running on different environment. I have correctly completed the following:
1 Foundation Services Shared Services installed and up and running, and users/groups correctly migrate.
2 Essbase and EAS and up and running. All Essbase applications (except for planning applications), were migrated successfully of 9.3.3 to 220.127.116.11.
3. the planning has been installed and is operational. While there is no apps planning in the new system, I can open planning via the workspace administrator.
So the next step is to get my apps of moved/transferred the 9.3.3 planning environment for the new 18.104.22.168.
To complicate matters, we are through to the SQL Server repository 9.3.3 to Oracle in our new 22.214.171.124. So the first thing we did was to create a new Oracle schema for our planning app repository and using the developer SQL migrate Wizard, we have migrated/copied tables and data from the old Oracle's SQL Server. It seems that all the tables and data have been properly copied to Oracle.
Our old planning application is called PlanTest. The owner of the application is a native user called planadm. My planned migration plan (and my questions) are:
1. create a new empty planning called PlanTest into account application planamd 126.96.36.199 native?
2. If I use my new Oracle repository for this soft white, it will eliminate the old data converted or he will try to upgrade/migrate it?
3 or... should I take a backup of my new first converted repository. Then drop/recreate the Oracle schema (so no tables) and let Planning to build the repository when I create the Virgin Planning application? Then capture the owner SID in the new table HSP_USER. Stop planning. The backup of the overlay on the newly created repository 9.3.3, then replace the owner SID info. Then restart Planning.
* My concern: the structures of repository planning app table matches between 9.3.3 and 188.8.131.52?
4. open Planning and hope that the PlanTest application appears!
5. use Planning Upgrade Wizard to complete the migration and upgrade of the repository.
6 push/Create app to Essbase.
7 export data from old app in .txt file loading and reloading in planning new cube.
8 convert/migration of business rules using information from John's blog.
I don't know that I missed something. Suggestions or comments on these steps would be appreciated. Bottom line is I need to get this app (and several others) migrated successfully with all the metadata, rules of security, forms, etc.. Their reconstruction from scratch is NOT an option.
In addition, to clarify. It is a classic planning application. We do not use EPMA.
It would probably make things even simpler if the owner of the application has been changed to the default Administrator account before the upgrade.
In any case, it has been included before, but
create a blank planning application (any options) with planadm
store the SID code in the table HSP_USERS
stop planning, dropping the schema, import the 9.3.3 the same pattern,.
updated the SID in the HSP_USER to that stored.
and so on

I have a physical camera TCS M2, I would like to upgrade to the latest version 7. XX verified but it is apparently not possible to perform this procedure for the unit of these versions. What are my options? Is there a version compatible with the model of this device? My solution would be virtualization? Can someone help me with a possible solution?
You mention that you're running a TCS M2, which is a second generation aircraft, non - UCS Server? If so and you want to stay on this material, you can run TCS S6.1 up to S6.2.1 as a virtual machine on that server.
If you plan on TCS S7.x running, you must migrate the TCS to the virtual device, you can run it either on a third generation or fourth generation TCS device or third spec-server meets the minimum requirements.
If you need more information or help, suggest that you move your thread to the telepresence of forums where these devices are most active section discussed.

I got new servers with Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit environment.
We have the old instance on 18.104.22.168 version.
I expected someone comment please and let me know if that seems fine.

I read the vSphere Upgrade Guide. In particular at page 49 the topic "upgrading to vCenter Server on a different Machine and keeping the existing database" seems to correspond to what we intend to do.
We have a 2.5u4 physical vCenter with SQL 2005 local and we wish to migrate to vCenter 4 on a local virtual machine with 2008 x 64 with SQL 2008.
Some questions I have:
Q1: What happens to all the 3.5u4 of ESX host? Are they automatically made the new FQDN to the new destination server name? Are they members of the same cluster...
Am I basically look the same except for: a) I am now on vCenter 4; (b) my vCenter server name is now different and GUESTS know this change.
Q2: What happens to all Virtual Machines? They are members of the same groups / pools of resources etc.
Basically, T1 & 2 are the same, the guide does not seem to explain what happens after the process upgrade/migrate as clearly as I would like.
Q3: What time is it "safe" uninstall the SOURCE server vCenter?
All the guests reconnection and cluster reconfiguration will be done automatically. You don't have to do anything manually after the migration. Please make sure that the users and groups who use VC inherited is available on the new configuration also.
I think it will be a good idea to uninstall VC inherited when vCenter 4.0 is operational and works correctly with all the hosts and reconfigured clusters.

Hello, I'm trying to upgrade vSphere for a customer of 5.0 to 6.0.0 U2. I don't foresee any problems with the upgrade of the host, but I'm having a terrible time to vCenter Server upgraded. SSL problems, inventory Service won't start/db issues, etc. This is a very simple configuration with only two hosts, a DS3524 for the shared storage and a vCenter server running on a windows virtual machine. I am simply considering implementation installation vCenter's existing disposal and replacement with a new device. What, exactly, would I lose, do this? vMotion, HA and DRS is put to the top, but nothing fancy or automated.

Because your environment is small, I think that a better option is really build a new vCenter from scratch and then guests are leaving the former vCenter to the new... of course, you will lose all historical data (statistics, task, events) of the old host and you will need to re - create clusters on the new vCenter configurations.

So I want to update our ACS 4.0.3 to 4.1 and I've heard of the provided adobe MigrationTool we, fantastic.
The problem is I'm kind new to ACS and, ridiculously, I can't pass the first step, I mean I found the log4j on our disk library, found a 5.1.14 connector j and called the command-line to procceed. (Stop apache tomcat first and also tried to stop, as well as mysql and all combinations between them).
Then I put two pots on the same folder as migrationTool and wrote on the command line:

I tried to download the new mysql connectors, install the most recent versions, substitute on this line. Tempted to surf on com.adept.persist.sql.connection on MigrationTool.jar (which does not exist) and I am completely lost, any ideas on what I should do?

Under Windows, the tool of Migration (and fulfillment.war) expects to find the production config file to C:\config\fulfillment-conf.txt
I'm migrating ACS 1111 devices running ACS version 4.1.4 build 13-1121 ACS ACS version 5.1 devices.
In the migration process, it is stated that:
"The machine of migration must be a Windows platform that is running the same version of ACS (including the fix) as the source machine.
and with regard to the supported versions:
"You must install the latest patch for versions of migration supported listed here. In addition, if you have another version of ACS 4.x installed, you must upgrade to one of the supported versions and install the latest patch for this version before you can migrate to ACS 5.1. »
If I check the web associated with ACS version 184.108.40.206 download page, there are many opportunities for software to download from 220.127.116.11.1 and goes up to 18.104.22.168.20.
How do I now which is the patch installed in my system if the ACS Web Interface only provides the information "4.1.4 build 13?
If you have installed the patch, ACS web interface also displays the patch level. See the attached screenshot
I use the Migration utility to migrate a 4.2 ACS to an ACS 5.2.
Shape the newspaper I see the migration is completed successfully, however, No 4.2 object appear in the ACS 5.2.

Now I'm 'migration' ACS manually, which is a little bad...
Migration can be a bit tricky and when I ran into this issue before that it was because the changes have not been actually migrated to ACS. It's actually a 2 step process:
(1) Analyze and export (this creates the files to import into DCC 5 locally on the migration computer.
(2) import - this import actually data in DCC 5 (this is the most often missed step).
In addition, here are some useful tips if everything goes well for your migration:
1) begins with a new database and import your first set of objects, if you don't like it you can use the command 'acs reset-config' command line to restore ACS to factory default.
(2) after that you have the first series of imported objects take an EC of backup, when you go to import your next series of objects and you end up not liking is where imports put objects you can restore that backup and do not lose your previously imported data that you liked.
I would like to migrate ACS 3.3 to 5.3 smoothly. To do this, I want to redirect GBA 5.3 unknown users in the old one in 3.3. I define ACS proxy but I do not know how to set up the 'Access policies' and 'Service selection rule' to tell about ACS 5.3 to redirect unknown users on ACS 5.3.
Could you help me for this config or give me an example of configuration.

You must set the server RADIUS identity under users entry and identity stores pointing your ACS 5.3
You then define a sequence, identity that lists the databases currently deployed on your DCC 5 first, followed by the entry that you have defined for ACS 3.3.
