  I have the new windows Vista Business installed on my laptop Satellite M30x!
  Now I have a problem with my SD card reader... sometimes I noticed that if I put an SD card in, but most of the time, nothing happens. So, there is no any drivers or firmware to date.
  I don't know what I'll do because there are not too all the compatible drivers for my digital camera...
  Of this, I just want my SD card reader is probably running on vista!

  1, when you use the Windows XP Home Edition from Toshiba, you don't need a Service Pack. SP2 is installed again!

  2, when you bought the laptop, you have a CD of tools & utilities that contains all of the drivers and the software!
  For example, you can install WinXP Prof. to your M30X.

  You need only to insert the CD of Windows XP Prof and start the laptop while pressing 'C' for CD-ROM or "F12" and choose the CD-ROM in the boot menu!

  Then, simply install XP Prof with the installation wizard. When you finished you can install all the drivers and Tools CD (home and Prof. drivers are the same).

  ATTENTION: On the Tools CD, you will find a file html with the order of the intallation.

  When you finished the installation session, you must install the Packs of Service Ms.

  The driver from the ATI site will not help you. It is generally not possible to install the original graphic drivers from sites of s card on Toshiba laptops manufacturer.
  The Toshiba own graphics drivers are a bit modified and not the same as the original ATI drivers.

  I restarted the laptop with the recovery cd, but still the same problems. Before robooting, I used nero 6, thougth perhaps, this is the problem in nero, now using just Sonic record now accompanies the DVD.

  How to help you if you don't mention what CD cannot be burned (original music CD, homes burned CDs, just specific producers, only some files are not readable). Give us more info on this issue.

  Check a little better, and if there is no success is perhaps the defective drive. It is well known that some CD (a cheaper) cannot be burned properly.

  I am owner of a Satellite M30X - 122 Notebook with Mat * one reader CD DVD-RAM UJ-820 s.

  I don't know where you live and can not recommend any PC shop but you can order it by the authorized service partner.

  You can also view s manuals for Satellite M30X, and page 5, you will find a list of all compatible optical disk drives. Do not buy the same but much better if you want. I hope that this info will help you find the new drive.

  Troubleshooting I can't say a lot. Try to remove the device from Device Manager and reboot the device and test again but with original media only. Make sure that you can see the contents of the CD or DVD using Windows Explorer.

  If nothing is done check for replacement.
