  I have read several posts regarding this issue, but nothing has worked for me on two products of Lenovo.  I have a B590 and a 8.1 G500 windows running.   On none of these laptops the Updater 5 system seems to work.  I uninstalled and reinstalled several times without change.  Still, he stops in the range 15-16% and says there is no system package, but I can page drivers and find a lot of updates there for my units.  I thought maybe that this software is no longer used, but many seem to have it working well.  I used the products IBM Thinkpads, Lenovo for years and always enjoyed this program to update the way back.  Can anyone help on this?  Thank you.

  OK, I have it works now on the B and G systems.  I went and did a complete and clean uninstall program and all records to accompany him and then did a complete reinstall from the download on the Lenovos web site program.  In the first round he came out saying he needed to be updated so I gave this permission and it downloads the update and installed it.  Once finished, he ran through the full update process perfectly.  Since it was included in the original software package, it was difficult for me to believe that it wouldn't work.  He does now, and anyone having this issue might want to try to do what I did as it was the only thing that worked for me.

  Try running the fixit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 in aggressive mode and see if, after the reboot, you are able to perform your edits again.

  Sorry for the previous post - I just noticed, that last Wednesday, you published an update of the BIOS (1,16).

  Guys, I'm happy to admit that this update has fixed the problem for me. Although I had hurt a bit (I had to restart Windows in order to restart the upgrade process) and after you apply the fix on the first start, that I was also able to see the spam message, at the next start-up went well.

  I have a problem with the update of the system on one of our ThinkPad customers.

  When I try to start it, the splash screen is displayed and the suservice.exe process is started, but then nothing happens.

  I followed some of the tipps, I found in this forum (disabled UAC, checked registry entries, and so on) but without success.

  The behavior has not changed - update system shows the splash screen (if I click on the start the application stops responding, if I wait for the splash screen disappears after about 30 seconds)

  I also uninstalled the previous installed version of system update and installed the latest version (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-73695.html) with the support of SP1.

  It would be nice to get the system update working again because the customer is having a strange problem on his thinkpad - perhaps connected to lenovo apps that aren't updated (start of programs to minimize maximize randomly). Uninstalling the lenovo Toolbox has solved this problem for now, but I want to assure you that the system is up-to-date.
