  • I bought a DVD of Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit English 3pk DSP 3 OEI from Amazon don't need to Kit?

    Hello

Ive just ordered a "Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit English 3pk DSP 3 OEI DVD" from amazon, and just realized, I need an OEM preinstallation Kit. And that I bought comes with 3 DVDs and 3 OEM.

    hendec123

    You don't need the Kit.

    Install in the usual way:

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Windows Vista Ultimate: SP1 CD can not install for me to Dual-Boot 7 and Vista

    Hi I'm new here.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer. I have 3 drives, F: reserved system, C: (where Windows 7 is on) and blank D: 20 GB Partition.

I am trying to install Windows Vista, so I can dual-boot, but I get an error code saying that there is not enough disk space on my F: reserved system, but I try not to install it since their, I try to install from the D: drive.

So I tried another way, I Booted from the CD, and Setup continues. But, when I clicked on my D: drive it says it cannot copy files when going from 3%.

    Question:

    1. I did a wiped fresh clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate, and it created a partition of 100 MB. What's causing Windows Vista to install correctly?

    2. If Question 1 was the problem, do you think I should wipe my entire C: drive and erase the entire disk for Windows Vista to fix itself?

    Thank you

    Hello

Since a month every time I turn on my computer and go turn off there are a 3 windows 7 updates that must be installed. It doesn't matter how many times a day, that I turned on my computer, when I go to close it there are 3 updates. What gives? Can I have a virus?

You receive errors related to updates?

    1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programs and then click Windows Update.
    2. In the left pane, click view update history.
    3. Find an update for Windows that has failed to install, and then double-click the update to view more information.
Updates that have failed to install will display failed under status, next to the name of update.

Follow the links in the Windows Update dialog box under more information or help and Support to resolve the problem, then try to reinstall updates by using Windows Update in Control Panel or by mail with the error code and maybe someone may be able to help others.

    Windows update General troubleshooting

    Suggestions:

Make sure that the following services are started.

    1. Click Start, type services.msc, press on enter, and then click Services.

Double-click on these "Windows Update Service", "Cryptographic Service" and Background Intelligent Transfer Service"and under the general tab, verify that the service has not been disabled in the Startup Type box. If the Service has been disabled, then set to automatic.

    1. Perform a clean boot to start Windows using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. Then try to install the update from the download file that the problem may occur because of a conflict of third party software.

The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

The purpose of a clean boot is trying to find out what service/program is causing a problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows by performing a clean boot. This article also describes how to start the Windows Installer service and how to reset the computer so that it starts as usual.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

Important - step 7: reset the computer to start as usual

    1. Download the update and install the update manually

If the same update is offered several times, this problem occurs when one of the following conditions is true:
    • An error occurred during the installation. The update has not been installed.

  • Updates for Windows Vista Ultimate.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. When I got the machine, I installed the latest updates for Windows Vista. This caused a problem with the license and told me to ignore the updates for Windows Vista to avoid the problem again. Is this still the case and, if so, why does Windows Update not recognize that I have 'Ultimate' and stop of asking me to install more than 50 updates every time I turn on the machine?

He was the one who told me that the problem was that I shouldn't download updated Vista because I had Vista Ultimate.

Nonsense. It is VERY important to install all updates offered by Windows Update Service Packs and critical security.

There will come a time soon when your computer will not be offered more updates at least that Vista SP1 is installed. A few years later, the same thing apply to Vista SP2.
