Update on Satellite L850 HARD drive

Hello

I bought Toshiba Satellite L850-A846 already for several months and my hard is completely filled
and the cause of the nature of my work, I can't buy an external hard

So I wonder if I can replace my hard intern (640g) with (2 t)
I don't know my motherboard type and if it is compatible or not?

Also, I want to know if I can do it. Will this void my warranty license?

My number if you want to:
PSKDLV

Problem is that Toshiba doesn't provide any update list where you can find a list of compatible parts that can be improved.
Still, HARD drive upgrade can be done by the owner for s (described in the manuals) laptop and it will not void phone warranty s.

To find out what drives and what capacity max can be problematic.
You can just hope that someone here has any experience with this and will issue a brief report.
Otherwise, you can try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Maybe they can help you with all this.

  • Satellite A660 - 18 BIOS update & fails (re-visited) HARD drive recovery

Referring to an old thread from my friends...

I tried earlier to update the BIOS of v1.80 for v1.90 (whether by the automatic update tool Service Station and the direct download of the update of the BIOS).

Whenever the update of the BIOS ran, he abandoned arguing that the battery was low (it was not), alternating current was not on (it is) and the existing BIOS version was superior to the new version (it wasn't).

The real problem seems to be that the version of the BIOS (as shown in "Toshiba HWSetup") is:

    + The BIOS version = V234567890. 00/00/00000000000 +.
    + Version EC = 1.80 +.

However, in the Diagnostic PC Toshiba tool the BIOS version on the page of basic information is correctly reported as 1.80

At the point where I couldn't be worth blat my disc with the original image and try again. I was hoping that Toshiba would set the BIOS update to fix the problem. Didn't happen.

They released v2.00 BIOS in June 2011 and would not always up to date. So I backed up my data and tried to blat of the machine to factory State. What a nightmare...

The recovery image doesn't work well at all!

The first bit works (the original partition creation and image copy), but after the startup of Windows and the script factory Toshiba intervenes, all sorts of problems begin.

First of all, the thing stuck several times in a process of "assessment of system performance. This happens in several phases of reboots because the drivers are installed. Then there's a bunch of bug script error messages and DMI analyze the errors you will need to click on ' close and do not report the crash "type dialog. What makes it more difficult is that the Toshiba factory configuration script sets up a blank page trying to see you on what the bureau is to be avoided. Even if you try to pass in the Manager of tasks to complete the process deadlocked, it gives you a few seconds grace before forcing the Office to lock and hide behind the white screen again. If you're quick and good time, you can stop the evaluation of performance at a standstill (I think it's just the thing to the Windows Experience score). Same thing to reject the other boxes of error...

Finally, I arrived at the end of the script and the machine was built with all of the original software.

The program HWSetup still reports the version of BIOS of nonsense and the PC Diagnostic tool always reports it correctly.

The Service Station program now does not even start. It crashes with a message + "request the Toshiba Service Station could not initialize. Try to restart or reinstall the application. » +. I downloaded the last being on the website and installed... To be hosted later with the same message.

Program update direct BIOS for v2.00 made his usual thing you ask that the current BIOS version is greater than 200 and abandonment.

I even read in a FAQ that some recovery routines do not work correctly with more than 4 GB of RAM (I have 8 GB). So I did all of this once again with only 4 GB installed and the script was just as broken for 4 GB 8 GB.

I ran PC complete diagnosis for machine test suite and it turned up nothing.

A little confused now... Maybe time to log a failure while I have a few more months of warranty left. But the machine actually works, just can't update the BIOS. Would be my luck if a problem arose just after the warranty has expired, and they said 'just update the BIOS...

In front of me, I 3 laptop years. Over the past three years, Toshiba has offered 3 BIOS updates. I don t care about it and still use the original version that I got with my laptop. I want to say, why change anything and start this risky If update everything works fine and it does.

Several times I have read here that people write about the problems of updating the BIOS and damaged BIOS. This risk does not apply to me just having the latest version.

Anyway, if you want to have all past orders on your laptop, it is without a doubt your legitimate right. In General, the BIOS updates are tested before Toshiba offers for download so I really put t understand why you have this kind of problems. The problem with the installation of recovery is also strange.

A few months ago, a friend of mine bought A660 and I helped him create recovery DVDs, and we also tested the recovery procedure everything including the three options:
    Back to out-of-box state
Recover without changing the hard drive partitions
    Get a custom size partition

Everything worked perfectly so I m really confused about everything you write.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with this. When I could have your laptop in front of me to see exactly what is happening, it will be much easier to understand all of this.
I updated the BIOS on different laptops, and I got lucky because every time that everything was fine.

Your laptop is guaranteed valid so I recommend you contact Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for assistance.
What do you think about this?

  • Satellite M70: HARD drive not recognized external - various XP error messages

    Hi all

I have a Satellite M70 and I have a Western Digital external hard drive.
Initially, it worked great, I was able to put my large collection of music, etc. on it and run a computer off to save space on my integrated HD.

But recently I had problems with XP not recognizing HD or be able to write in it. It appears in my computer, then disappear, often randomly when I write new files to it.
I reformatted the hard drive to NTFS as it ran originally as FAT32.

I updated my BIOS as well, but I'm out of ideas.

Anyone else had similar problems with XP?

    Thank you

Have you thought about external HARD drive failure?
Perhaps failure of HARD drive and, therefore, it cannot be recognized correctly.

Today I am updating my drivers processor (2nd generation processor Intel i5, i5 - 2450 m), but updated for this model drivers are not CORRECT, they are for the processors of Intel 3rd generation with the Intel HD Graphics devices. It is impossible to update the drivers for this model!

According to specification for laptop, your laptop was supplied with preinstalled WIN7 64-BIT HOME PREMIUM.

  • Looking to update my first internal hard drive 2011 MBP

Instead of recently updated to a new external drive.

I thought it may be time to update HDD internal (500 GB) original on my MPB.

I have 8 GB of RAM and internal light enough to keep my drive in without worrying about storage and applications.

Everyone updated their MPB HDD with a 7200 RPM disk or an SSD?

If so, what drives internal you would very recommend?

Search for better performance and faster read write time.

My 500 GB drive is barely filled. There are currently about 150 GB of data used.

Much appreciate your comments and experience once the internal drive has been updated.

Ant case 2.5 "HDD or SSD will be compatible with your MBP.  Here is just one example of what is available:

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-notebook/

Maximum capacity at the moment is 2 TB, enough for almost all users and by eliminating the need for storage of primary data on an external drive.  I currently have 1 TB SSD Crucial in my Mbps in 2010 and 2011.  Would they change a profound impact on the performance of the computer.  If the bank account is fat, install an SSD.  If not, faster turns HARD drive will be better, but not as much as the speed difference may suggest compared with the 5400 RPM HARD drive.

Based on reputation, the best currently available SSD is OWC and Crucial.  Although I prefer HGST and Seagate HDD, one brand will do that are listed in the link I have provided.

As a side note, your MBP will support up to 16 GB of RAM.  OWC and Crucial are the best sources for RAM Mac compatible.

    Ciao.

  • Questions on on Satellite A300 HARD drive partitions

    Hello

I would like to install a new OS (new operating system: Windows 7, old OS: Vista Edition Home Premium) on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A300-237) to repartition the whole HARD drive. I see a non-standard partition, its size is of ~ 1 GB, can I delete this partition?

    What information contains this partition?
I did the recovery previously by Toshiba HDD Recovery disks. Guess when I delete any partition and put in place and installation of the discs, will recover the initial state (including the hidden partition)?

    Thank you

If you want to install your own Win7 version delete all existing partitions and then create a C partition for the installation of the OS.
I guess you write over WinRE partition and it is about 1.5 GB.

I installed Win7 ultimate 32 bit on my Satellite A300 and it works perfectly.
If you need assistance with installing Win7 let me know.

  • C50 - D satellite - external hard drive is not recognized

Just Satellite C50 D but are unable to read or recognize my LaCie hard drive.
As it has all the data from my old computer, it is rather important. Can someone provide help and advice on the way to a) the disc or b) transfer all data in the memory of the laptop

    Thank you very much
    A  :-)

    Hello

The laptop supports 1 USB 3.0 port and 2 USB 2.0 ports.
I recommend you connect the external HARD drive to each port (USB 2.0) and USB3.0 just to check if it is not a compatibility problem. But generally, it shouldn't be a big problem to connect a USB 2.0 device to a USB 3.0 external.

However, it could also be that this external HARD drive needs more than usual 500mA power supplied by a USB 2.0 port. In this case, you must use a USB cable to Y to connect the HARD drive to two USB ports.

  • Re: Satellite L300D - HARD drive with unknown password recovery?

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L300D of second hand to a colleague and went on to restore its framework Moose per HARD drive recovery according to the guide of Toshiba
    Link: [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm]

I get to part 3 and find a current user name, to which the previous owner has no knowledge of, or a password in order to continue the process. Does this mean that the previous owner has locked the recovery process or there at - it a way to recover the system without the password?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hey,.

Theoretically, you could ask the colleague to the password ;)
HARD drive recovery is possible if you know the password, otherwise everyone could perform HARD drive recovery and would not be without danger.

Alternative, you can use the Toshiba recovery disc. It will be the same as the drive HARD recovery, factory settings will be restored too.

  • Satellite A305 - hard drive corruption

Hi, recently my laptop crashed. When I tried to reboot it failed. When I tried to go into safe mode, it hangs while loading. When I tried to go into the Startup Repair, it crashed on the laundry. The only thing I could get was the BIOS. I tried to recover by using the cd to format and reinstall and it failed on the laundry. I stuck in a WinXP cd to do the formatting, and although it is charged, he says he couldn't see all hard drives. Despite the fact that the BIOS can see them. So I guess that my hard drive has failed and bought a new drive.

I installed the new drive and everything seems to work properly. I used for the recovery CD to reinstall the VISTA installation and proceeded to make the necessary windows updates. A few hours later and only a few updates on the left, the computer has crashed. I restarted and all of a sudden I'm getting the same problem. All the hard drive becomes inaccessible.

It is possible that I have just bought a bum the HDD in the store but I seriously doubt it. The replacement drive had the same number of laps (5400) and other specifications except a new was greater (original was 200, new 320 GB).

    Any ideas?

It's really interesting story. I can't imagine new HARD drive can be destroyed so easily, but anything is possible.

When you enter the BIOS settings, set it to the setting, can you start again the installation of recovery?

  • Satellite C660: HARD drive space shows only 20 GB of free?

Toshiba Satellite c660 with 320 GB of disk space, it shows that 2 hard drives or 2 partitions, one called data shows only 20.6 GB of free on 148, but when I go in there I can only find at maximum approximately 50 GB even with all the backups?

    Hello

There are more partitions on the HARD drive.
You can see it in disk management.
Right click on computer and select manage.
Now you should be able to go to the disk management which will show you all the available partitions.

A hidden partition is used for the Windows 7 backup files that are needed to fix the Windows 7 in the case where something goes wrong with the OS.
Then, you can find a Windows partition and the other partition is used for HARD drive recovery. The point is that you are able to run the system recovery from the HARD drive without the use of the recovery disc (recover disk must be created using the recovery disc creator)

  • Satellite M40: HARD drive not working after laptop computer trasported turned upside down

My Satellite M40 is facing a strange problem: whenever I have transport (for example, in the trunk of my car) backwards instead of in his natural position or vertically, after the transport, the HD does not work for a few hours. The BIOS does not see the HD because it is not present at all. After a few hours of rest, without moving, if you try to turn on the PC again, the HD magically comes to work again backwards.

My HD is made with soda water? :)

Talk seriously... What do you think it is?

    Hi franz

Not easy to say what it is, or why it happens. Maybe it? s a bad connection of the HARD disk.
I guess that this happens because of the agitation in the car.
Well, I don? don't know if it helps but you can try to check the connection of the HARD disk.
The second possibility to use another HARD disk. It might be because there is something wrong with the HARD drive.
