I uninstalled Nero 8 on my system (Windows Vista Edition home premium, 64-bit dell 1737 studio system); but several Nero files are always stuck in my registry. How can I remove them without destabilizing the system? Thank you.

Yes, Nero is a software that I hate. I liked Nero until 6 version, I think, but after the Version 8 and 9, it was pathetic.

2 years ago I had uninstalled a lot of software and there were many many registry entries obsolete - when a search I found that a member of a forum on the Web recommend CCleaner.

Used from 2 years - each time without making registry backups. He never did wrong with my two PC - Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 SP1 (previously Windows 7 RTM).

    The registry cleaner is fantastic.

In which case you can try it, here's the download link.

I understand that you want to delete the desktop.ini

LEAVE THE FOLDER $hf_mig STRICTLY ALONE OR YOU WILL BREAK WINDOWS. Use CCleaner to remove temporary Internet files instead of doing it manually.

It is not as useful as you think it's your partitioning scheme. It's OK to have a separate partition on the same hard drive for data files (documents, photos, music, etc.) but it is absurd to put program install files to a different partition because they will need to be reinstalled in any case if you need to do a cleaning of Windows. On the desktop, I prefer just to add a second internal drive of the data instead of a single disk partitioning. I doubt very much that your page file and temporary files on a separate partition gave you any help appreciated speed/efficiency. Better to have just enough RAM. You can change your partitioning with third-party partitioning such as Acronis Disk Director, Easeus software, etc.

You forgot to mention the size of your disk is. If it is less than 250 GB, I wouldn't bother this partitioning at all. Back to the top of your data for drives external hard like you are already doing. For easier recovery, use a program like Acronis True Image imaging and your system to work perfectly the image and save the images on the external hard drive. TI can make an incremental backup image so that your images are always fresh.

  • Windows 7 user folders Redirection question - how to remove old, inactive placeholders?

    Hello

I have just directed my documents folders user (Document, music, photo, video, Desktop, etc.) of my drive C:\ (128 GB SSD drive) in my D:\ Drive (1 TB HARD drive) for reasons that are obvious to many. I followed the instructions in the following link: redirect a folder to a new location

However, after redirected each back, C:\ drive My now still has placeholders of old for the following folders: music, photos and videos (highlighted in the attached image below) and I can't something with them (delete, rename or hide). What bothers me, for two reasons:

    1. they are always there LURKING and I can finish by clicking on them instead of the redirected folders (as you can see there are three folders corresponding to my images, videos and music). I get the message "Access denied" whenever I click on them (I am the only user of that PC and the Admin, of course);

    2. in the second place, I might want to redirect folders in the future to their original location, which will cause a problem because the placeholder is where, in my opinion.

Could someone please help and guide me how to remove these placeholders? Remove these placeholders allowed and recommended, or not?

    I would be very grateful!

    Thank you!

    Frank

    Hi Frank,.

You don't want to remove these.  It is possible from the command line with a few advanced controls, but it will break.  Many programs, even parts of Windows itself, look for these files at this location.  These placeholders function as junctions and will redirect all programs to the new location if they try to use them.  But if you delete placeholders, these programs will not redirected properly and they will fail.

  • Envy h8: after Windows 10 reset impossible to reinstall win tv software

I upgraded to windows 10 8.1 all on time and everything seemed fine. Then last week I found that several functions do not work on the PC. As Start button, Windows Store, some of the apps etc etc. Is not too worried but thought I'd reset after having read about it on the Microsoft Web site. Followed the instructions and kept my files but when the PC has finiished I found that all who have been with the PC or software I had installed had disappeared.

I've always had the installation disks for the software I have installed, but couldn't know how resinstall the software preinstalled, when I bought the PC. Most of it I don't mind, but I would really like to reinstall Win Tv7.

I remember vaguely seeing awhile back on the resettlement of the recovery partition software but can't seem to do it now and the HP website has only an update for Win TV for windows 8.

    Anyone got any ideas please?

    Gordonmac8

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about the problems with Win TV and wanted to help - but we need more information.

We need the details of your PC product number.  There should be a sticker with this information on the case.

There is more than one model of your laptop, and we need the specific model number to search for information on this subject.

I personally found the updates of Win10 to be a mixed bag - a work very well, plus have problems, some fail miserably!

The only way to reinstall the HP software that is preinstalled on the PC is to use something known as HP recovery media.  It is a set of DVD and a CD or a USB key, which will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

If you are interested in this approach, then let me know - and I'll see if the recovery media is available by using the product number of details of your PC.

As for versions of the software, unless the PC is delivered with Win10 preinstalled HP, even if there is a version Win10 of the HP software, he has no way to download and install it.  So, you would have the same problem.

We can proceed once you provide the information.

    Thank you

  • Update the bios HP Envy 15 t, Windows 8.1, stripped of the keyboard backlight and messed up the function keys

I bought a HP ENVY 15 t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC about a month ago.

Yesterday an update of the bios was downloaded from HP and implemented.

The backlight on the keyboard has been disabled. I want to come back.

Also, I need to have their ordinary functions, unless you press the shift of fn, function keys.

I couldn't find the option for the backlight I have the information available. Here's the option in the BIOS to enable/disable the use of the fn key.

Please check if there are options for the backlight. In the meantime, I will try also to find information to activate the backlight. You can try using the keys F4 or Fn + F11 to toggle the backlight on the keyboard.

HP no longer use the whitelist. This means that you can use any card desired AC dual. I use Intel 7260AC and so far no problem here but I'm on linux.

  • CAN I get rid of the updates that are show; pping in Vista. I see in Windows 7 which is can remove old updates that are not needed. Can I do this with Vista?

I am able to remove the old window of Dates in Windows 7 that overlap, when you go on the cleaning disc and touch clean system files, then the update windows clean up rises.  Then, you are able to remove the old of the dates that are no longer needed. This saves space.  Can I do this with Windows Vista?  If so, how?

    Hello

This is the information from Microsoft about this:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2852386/en-us

"Cleaning Windows Update option is available only when the Disk Cleanup Wizard detects the updates of Windows you don't need on the computer."

This is only for Windows 7 and above.

Loy Vista doesn't have this option of cleaning disc for Windows Updates and in all probability that Microsoft will not implement what Vista is now in Extended Support.

Here's how to clean your Vista hard disk:

This free program allows you to see what is taking place.

By default system restore also includes 15% of the capacity of your hard disk under Vista space.

You can change the size of it:

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76227-system-restore-disk-space.html

You can clean your hard drive using these two methods.

    "Delete files using Disk Cleanup"

    Using the free CCleaner program:

In NO case use the registry cleaning Option in CCleaner

Download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

And Norton Backup, if you are using Norton, can do strange things with filling of hard drive space.
