update problems since macOS Sierra to iMovie

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me out here because I'm starting to get really frustrated.

I have a MacBook Pro and yesterday I upgraded to macOS Sierra and I regret it now because when I wanted to work with iMovie today he is more worked how it used to. I make youTube videos for a living and I'm already a day behind my schedule download because of this problem. Basically what is happening, it's only when I imported my video files to my SD card into iMovie files seemed normal, however when I put them in a project and began to play them I noticed that the color was distant, it almost looks like there is a misty overlay. At first I thought that maybe my DSLR camera has broken out and checked the files on the SD card (played files to QuickTime) but they seem quite normal and how they should look, iMovie for a reason any turns them... I have no idea how to solve this problem, because I'm not even sure what really is the problem. Can someone help me please?

Hi, Anny,

I don't know what is happening with the change of color in your timeline.   Whenever there is an upgrade of the operating system there always is the possibility of conflicts with specific applications until the bugs have been worked.  So, it is possible that your question is related to your recent update to OS Sierra - hard to say.  I'm not aware of anyone who still displays with your problem.

Given that the problem appears only in your timeline, maybe media are complex and your computer is hard to deal with in the time line or keep in touch with your editing.

You can see if the problem is linked project by creating a new project with the same or different media.   Is it possible to have a color filter activated inadvertently?  You can also try to reopen iMovie while maintaining the option and command keys and selecting Remove preferences.  Sometimes, it allows to launch iMovie in a different account, as your guest account, in which case there is a conflict with your current user account.  If none of the works above, you can try to create a new library on your boot drive or disk formatted Apple iMovie and see if your projects are working properly.   Another possibility is to restore your old operating system from Time Machine.

In any case, I think that once the film is shared out he will play with his normal colors.  Try sharing file on your desktop to confirm that.   If he plays well, at least you'll be able to keep your schedule download then you want to solve your problem.

While I own this Macbook pro (mid-2012) which worked like a charm until yesterday.

I've updated to Mac Os Sierra 10.12 yesterday and since then, I had several problems, here is what happens:

First, I could not boot up the laptop. Kept opening to a black screen with cursor (which I could move), it would not really start something else.

I found that all I had to do was to enter the first letter of my name of user online, press ENTER, my password and enter again (while watching the black screen). It worked!

Now, my problem is that I can't turn off the power without forcing. When I press on the Apple logo and the "closed" press I get the same screen black with a cursor, while the unit simply refuses to close actually. The only way to do this is to press the power button manual for several seconds.

Things I've tried (which were not successful):

Looked online and I tried many:
    -Reset "PRAM",

    -Launch utility disk first aid,

Went to the chat service apple customer and executed:

    -Reset of the SRAM "',

-Launch the disk utility first aid.

Has been disconnected when I reset SRAM so I had to contact them again and carried out:

    -Start in safe mode.

I was told of safe mode might actually trigger the update to finish and solve the problem, but it would not.

Also, I cried a little, sigh a lot more than I should have lost faith. Those who do not work either.

So here I am, looking for help! What can I do?

    Thank you very much!

PS: Sorry for the errors, my mother tongue is french!

    Hi Foggylemming,

I understand that, despite a good bit of troubleshooting and anxiety, your Mac has always questions close normally, given that you have updated to macOS Sierra. Fortunately, however, there is always hope!

While the next step should not affect your data, however, now would be a good time to create a backup of your Mac (if you haven't already done so) so that you can be sure that your data is safe. One way to do that is built into your Mac (but requires an external hard drive) is Time Machine.
Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - set up Time Machine

The next step would be to start your Mac from the built-in recovery drive (after forcing them to close again if necessary). To do this, hold the command and R keys until you see the utility window appears. From there, follow the steps below.

OS X can be installed on the same version or an earlier version of Mac OS X, without deleting your data. You don't need to remove or disable the existing system first.

    1. Start of OS X Recovery now command-r immediately after start-up or that you restart your Mac. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo. Start-up is finished when you see the OS X Utilities window.
    2. Choose to reinstall OS X OS X Utilities window, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
    3. This installs the latest version of Mac OS X, which has already been installed on your Mac.

    How to reinstall OS X

    Kind regards.

Happy to help you with this,

I did disk first aid and tonight, tried to do a reinstall in Recovery Mode. I went into Recovery Mode, but nothing after that I said to reinstall Sierra (in fact he said that he would check if I was eligible, then I hit Continue, and nothing's happened over an hour when I left).  I also downloaded from the App Store, reinstalled Sierra and have exactly the same problems. But I'll try fortunately once again in a day or two after your specific guidelines, and it would be nice if it worked.  (I had all of your problems. Mine were the window of the mail attachment issues (opens and closes quickly or opens but not completely, so I can not upwards), network goes offline after I wake the computer from sleep, sleep sometimes takes three tests since the first time I try to sleep, he wakes up immediately.  But I'll give it a try and thanks to you and khati for the info.

  • Graphics problems in macOS Sierra on Macbook Pro

I have a 13 "mid-2016 Macbook Pro (model MacbookPro 7.1 - 2.66 GHz/8 GB RAM) I've recently upgraded to Sierra. However, I noticed a slight increase in glitches since the upgrade - serious glitches. For example, the animation for arise Applications appears as two images, the majority of applications (including integrated) sparkle and on top of that, applications like Microsoft Remote Desktop and Parallels Pro 12 do not work right due to graphic problems (MS RD comes constantly creates an empty black window while in the analogies I was forced to power off the virtual machine dirty because all the options of the application itself that uses OS x) interface were flickering at which makes them unselectable).

In fact, the graphics flickering and stuttering throughout what using Mac OS are quite widespread. Open a new window in Chrome, same thing. Same thing with Safari. Or iTunes.

He got better with each subsequent reboot, but it is still pretty bad.

Anyone else having this problem or have a resolution for this?

  • Update problems since March 30! nothing to do with the new the confliker virus?

I'm having this problem on my Acer 8930 G running Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS and everything above, scanned with several research programs of Spy-ware/Mal-ware with 0 results.  I do not go to questionable sites and not to download I don't know the source from the programs.  I always get the "WindowsUpdate_00000646" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" error.

    Hi G_Alger,

Thanks for posting your questions to answers.microsoft.com

I just wanted you to know, I am sharing this question out of http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/01f198c8-d94d-4b1e-a3d2-55d3969e4a7e, given that the original post has been marked as answered.  Answered questions seem less review of the members of the community and sometimes the questions that others have added do not get addressed.

Questioning your situation, I have a question for you, this day you are running and receiving this error on?  Is this the same as was the problem of the previous user?

Why don't you try not to start your system in safe mode with network, then download the update manually.

1 manually download the update from the Web site in a folder on you created on the desktop - (I'm not sure of what update you download, but here is the download site of generics for updates: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx simply enter the KBarticle # in the search field)

After it is downloaded, start your system in safe mode with network and run the update from the folder.

To start your system in safe mode with network, restart your system, when you see the logo of the material supplier press F8 on the keyboard several times.  You must come to a start menu, to select set SAFE MODE WITH networking.

When you are at the level of the office, try to install the update.

Please let us know if this helps solve the problem or if other suggestions are needed on this issue.

    Kind regards

  • Are there themes book new or updated pictures on macOS Sierra

I'm not usually a "early adopter", but so far every version of the Photos had several book theme functions.  So, I'd love to hear some of the usual experts.

I've seen new book themes when I looked.  And the photo boxes and text fields can still not be resized.

  • On macOS Sierra - Parallels Desktop 12 - error unable to load Parallels driver - error ID 352

I have updated at 10.12 some weeks ago, with no problems.

I used 10 Parallels and put Windows 7 access every day. My Mac software was 100% up-to-date.

After a few weeks, I started Windows and Parallels showed the error "Failed to load the driver" and KB Parallels, I found that I may need to upgrade. As I was planning to upgrade anyway, I upgraded to Parallels 12 and got the same error.

I contacted Parallels support - they responded with this:

Failed to load Parallels driver. Problem ID: 352

The problem is in the bundle /System/Library/Extensions/IOPCIFamily.kext from Apple. In the bundle's info.plist is damaged due to some reasons.

If please contact Apple Support team and send them system.log and corrupt /System/Library/Extensions/IOPCIFamily.kext/Info.plist.

The person wrote that if Apple can't help, we will try to help "."

Is anyone able to help please?

    Thank you.

It is a user to user forum, not a team of Apple Support forum. In any event, it sounds like a problem of Parallels as it is unlikely that multiple versions of the operating system have defective or damaged kernel extensions.

For what it's worth, I use Parallels 11 without problem on macOS Sierra to access Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP64, Windows 7 and Windows 10 of virtual machines. I think you should go back to parallels Support. I've avoided Parallels 12 because of all the problems users are reporting

  • MacBook Pro mid-2012 running hot (MacOS Sierra)

    I have a MBP mid-2012 13 inch with 16 GB. of ram and a 500 GB. SSD

I had it set up with boot camp and dualboot El Capitan and MS-Windows-10

Everything is working, all the features and functions in the two operating systems.

I was very pleased with this MBP.

Recently, I put a new battery in it and upgraded to Mac OS Sierra.

Since then the MBP runs hot.

    It heats up very quickly.

Is this a common problem with macOS Sierra?

Or do you think that the NEW battery maybe causing the MBP get HOT?

I use an adapter to power 85 watts OEM.

The battery seems to work fine.

Several demons as mdworker are running to set up the Sierra which CPU load until adjustment ended.

You can check with activity monitor.

  • MacBook Pro (15 inch, end 2013) with MacOS Sierra 10.12: kernel_task maxing out CPU with external display

I have a maxed out end 2013 the MacBook Pro Core i7 to 2.6 GHz, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750 M 2048 MB, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB.

Also, I have a DELL P2415Q Display 24 inches (3840 x 2160) using Thunderbolt, are involved through the headphone jack and use a USB for lightning to recharge my iPhone.

I upgraded to macOS Sierra the day he is released and had no problems until this morning. I unplugged my external screen and speakers and used my laptop for about 15 minutes, the battery, and then returned to my office and plugged my Thunderbolt, rear speakers display in and my CPU shot at 100% and never came back down. My Mac is essentially useless because kernel_task is eating all my CPU and to prevent another asks to enter the CPU.

I have since audited equipment - everything was fine, reset the NVRAM and I tried to erase IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext .plist files but I couldn't on my Mac (trying to follow this guide, started in Safe Mode and everything then went to try and find the file and my Mac just does not have it). When my external screen is plugged if I'm doing anything CPU intensive (videophone, opening of Chrome, etc.) then my kernel_task gets mad again, and the only way to move is to unplug my screen. Connect my iPhone to charge the tips also my kernel_task as well. I followed my internal temperatures, and nothing was out of the ordinary, to cold currently at about 140 °.

At this point, it seems that any time that puts something on the charging system and increase the temperature internal internal components of my Mac kernel_task maxes my CPU, which brings my Mac to its knees.

Any ideas how to fix? Is this just a major bug in 10.12?
