Update service pack XP allows ITUNES Publisher (Audacity) to edit MP3 files of music?

Encoder.dll lame has been installed, but Audacity will yet save mp3 file.

(Our another computer XP works fine. It has an installed SP2.)

I have install Original XP 2002. Can I install SP1a first, followed by SP2?

SP-1, then Pack 2 and Service Pack 3.  All the DO.  You can make them sooner rather than later the standard XP support ends next year.

I recently had to restore to full factory on my computer due to a virus.  Now, I try to bring my computer updated.  I tried to get these updates via the Microsoft Web site, but I'm unable to receive or download updates because only now have Service Pack 1.  Y at - it another way to download the Service Pack 2/3 so I can make sure my computer is up to date.  Thank you.

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything in the list below, in order, before connecting the machine to the internet or a local network (i.e. other computers) and before you plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external computer diskotherwise:

    1. Make sure that the Windows Firewall is enabled.
    2. Uninstall any moment invalid Norton, McAfee, etc., free version of test which was also reinstalled, run the appropriate removal tool (see below), and then install an application antivirus of your choice (for example, http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspxMicrosoft Security Essentials- free).
    3. Arrival to Windows Update & get the computer fully patched - see article below
    4. If you use other than MSE antivirus, consider making an application also antimalware as MalwareBytes AntiMalware.

TIP: Use another and negative computer to download programs for, for example, SP2 or SP3 installation, the installer for your new anti-virus application and or other removal tools cited below. Transfer these files to CD or DVD (not a flash drive) and then transfer the files of the CD or DVD on the desktop of the computer you are using.

This is a known bug 'Dumb MS' and very simple to fix. It is simply that the installer wants to put a bit of a music (the standard windows sound) file in a particular place, and the directory does not exist on some copies of OEM Windows XP home.

You just need to create the folder he wants before rerunning the SP3 update. Not at the moment, I can't find a link to the exact thing, but if these directories do not exist, create them. You must be logged on as administrator user to do this.

The file beethoven.wma wants to be in the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Music".
    OR maybe "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\Sample sounds\" on XP-Home Edition

However, the "All Users" directory down may be missing or not have NO defined permissions.
To fix it, right-click on "All Users" and click the option 'security '.

    Click on the security"" tab.

That's good news. I think you also need to analyze of rootkits being on the right side. So, now:

Search for rootkits with a program SPECIALLY designed to detect and remove the (aswMBR):

Download this file to your desktop. Double-click the icon to run the program. When the opportunity to download and install the latest Avast definitions do.
Run a scan. Results in red indicate that this was not a false positive! Do you need to remove the rootkit (including "FixMBR" if necessary).

And finally, leave your PC on overnight and search for viruses, using this site:
Once we are convinced that your PC is clean, here are my instructions (just in case where you still cannot run batch of Geek-Tech file, etc.):

    1. download the installation of SP3 and IE8 (beforehand) files. I prefer to keep these (and other useful files) on a USB key, but this is optional. Here are the links for the installation files:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=24 (for SP3)

(You can TOTALLY ignore the message "intended for it professionals"!)

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=43 (for IE8)

(You need to install IE8 AFTER SP3! Trust in me.)

    IMPORTANT NOTE!

It is VERY important to ensure that Internet Explorer is at the level IE6 before installing SP3. In case you have IE7 or IE8, you must uninstall it / them, using the Control Panel Add / Remove programs. Let us know if you need assistance with this.

    Once again:

Make sure that IE is IE6 level before installing SP3. You can go directly from IE6 to IE8 after SP3 has been installed.

    2. disconnect Internet. Also unplug all unnecessary devices.

    3. temporarily disable the automatic updates. To do this:

Start | Control Panel (switch to Classic view if not already selected). Automatic updates

4 set up a clean boot. The last thing you need is for a program that runs in the background to interfere with these updates! (It happens!) For more information:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

(Note that this is the same as setting up a "Diagnostic boot.")

    Reset.

5 install the SP3. Restart TWICE.

6 switch to IE8. Restart TWICE.

(What happens very often is that someone has their software antivirus running as they try to install SP3, which often translates into chaos! "This is why it must be done after installing SP3 and IE).

7 unscrew the clean boot. (That is, return to the Normal startup).

8 make sure that firewall Windows is activated (it should already be):

Start | Control Panel | Security Center

9 visit Windows Update to download and install only the critical security updates. Restart each time you are prompted.

10 re - enable automatic updates.

When you use service pack 2 cd can not load product catalogues, it is fatal error, the Setup logs files should contain more information.

Why not integrate Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3 on her XP CD by following the instructions here (using another PC):

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/1443.aspx
Copy all data on an external hard drive, do a clean install using the XP CD updated (preferably on the BIOs)
Then, install the drivers from the system, then Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows 7 Firewall Control (XP free Version) and Malwarebytes' AntiMalware (free or Pro) or whatever you prefer security.
    Then copy the files over.
This will probably lead to the best performance.

Unless you have the SP1 and SP2 installed, there is no support for Vista; Microsoft support ended.

You say that you do not have SP1 installed, then of course we give you instructions on how to install it.

And when you post here complain about anything doesn't work for you, publish a list of the things you have already tried.

It is not installed if it does not appear under properties

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you which SP you have installed (apparently without SP).

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.

I already have Service Pack 1 on my computer and Vista.  I'm trying to automatically upgrade to Service Pack 2 and the error code: 80093102.  I'm not in a position to know what means this error code.  When I try to manually install Service Pack 2, I said that I don't have Service Pack 1.  So I try to install Service Pack 1, but tells me that it is already installed.  I go back to try to install the Service Pack 2 but tells me once more that I don't have Service Pack 2.  Sounds like a Catch 22.  Any suggestions?
