Update the Bios of the HP6710B. F08 to F20

Hi all

First post.

Owning a laptop HP/Compaq 6710 b years and never needed to upgrade the bios. Just updated the 1 GB of RAM 2 x 2 GB and there is no State that 2.99 GB, so thought maybe I should update my bios.

I need to upgrade through the sequence F09, F10, F11, etc. until F20... or is F20 a cumulative update contains all of the intermediate improvements?

Thank you

Ross

There is really no advantage to the update of the BIOS in your case, but there is a risk of a BIOS update goes wrong. A BIOS update that went wrong could leave you with a PC that does more boot in Windows.

The following pictures show what each update regarding improvements. As you can see, there is no improvement relating to what you asked about. It's safe to update rule only when there is a good reason.

Your operating system only grateful @ 3 GB of RAM is actually the standard for a 32-bit Windows operating system. That said, there is nothing wrong with what your PC reports that available memory.

After looking at the appropriate file you downloaded, it says this:

    "Prerequisites .
-Microsoft .NET 2.0 is required. UEFI and Custom Imaging - the HP BIOS update must be run from a FAT or FAT32, partition with a volume of the "HP_TOOLS" name This Installer gives you the option to install on the hard disk (HDD) or USB. If you install on the HARD disk and the HP_TOOLS partition is not present, Setup prompts to create the HP_TOOLS partition. If you install on a USB key, Setup renames the partition on the USB in HP_TOOLS. If you use a custom image, you can create the HP_TOOLS partition manually with the type FAT32 and that the volume HP_TOOLS name. ATTENTION:-the UEFI system partition is not protected and can be removed. -Backup of the computer by using the complete PC Backup feature of Microsoft Windows Vista does not save the UEFI system partition. For these reasons, HP recommends that you place no additional data on the UEFI system partition. Because the partition is not backed up, corruption or failure of the partition will result in the loss of all data on the partition, as well as the loss of UEFI functionality. "For more information, visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

There is little documentation on how to use it, but a Member here figured it out.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/operating-systems-and-software/envy-14-system-recovery-doesn-t-work-with-latest-BIOS/m-p/328684/highlight/false#M45165

    using Windows 7:
Just plug in the USB key and then run the SPnnnnn.exe BIOS file downloaded from the Web site drivers HP.
Assuming that the USB is configured correctly (see below), Setup the BIOS sees the HP_TOOLS partition on the USB, copy of the BIOS and its file signature on the USB key, then run Setup winflash. The system BIOS detects the USB and the partition HP_TOOLS and the BIOS is magically updated.
I put in place a new USB key as follows:
1 rename the partition HP_TOOLS from the hard drive to something different like HP_TOOLSbak
    2. Plug the USB
    3. Download and run the utility to update the BIOS (not the BIOS, still) drivers HP support page.
    4. Select the option to install to a USB
    5. Select the option to create the partition HP_TOOLS
    6. The reader should now be formatted as HP_TOOLS with a record of Hewlett-Packard containing BIOS and BIOSUpdate records. The BIOS folder contains empty current, news and previous records.
7 download and run the HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) MS drivers HP support page
    8. Select the option to install on a USB key. This will create a SystemDiags folder under the Hewlett-Packard folder
    9. Download and run the HP Notebook System BIOS update for the HP support page drivers, given that the USB is correctly tagged it will install the update of the bios on the USB drive
10, we have to end up with a HP_TOOLS partition on the USB drive identical to the one that you removed from the hard drive.
Once you have configured the USB drive, you can upgrade to other versions of BIOS (most recent or oldest) using this drive, as I mentioned above: just plug in the USB and then download and run the BIOS Setup program.

Having said that I'm not sure of what you do, once you boot the USB drive.

  • Yet WT8-A-102 stops suddenly and updated the BIOS

I bought a Toshiba still WT8-A-102 (not part no PDW09E-00100EEN) to the end of 2014. I upgraded from Windows 8 for Windows 10 Home Version 1511 without any problem in 2015.

I use it for a limited number of applications - Office365 and navigation, generally with Chrome and Hola VPN to access certain geographically limited websites, for example TV channels, watch movies and content recorded from my TV (these are generally. TSV format); I run the free version of Malwarebytes and AVG anti-virus.

I have two problems I can solve t.

    1 stop abrupt

For a few months now, it always turns off suddenly, always exactly 30 minutes after the start. There is no warning, the screen goes black and that s it. You can immediately restart and continue as before, but the same thing will happen again after another 30 minutes. It happens that it s plugged in or on battery power.

I can find no reason for this. For example:

    • It didn't happen when I've upgraded to Windows 10 but a few months later.
    • The battery does not turn down.
    • The Tablet does not heat.
    • It occurs regardless of whether you ve been using the Tablet constantly for 30 minutes or simply turn it on and let it idle.
    • Sleep and stop times are set to one hour.

I ve looked at event viewer and the only things there are a few system errors showing which means nothing to me (a server is not registered within the required). Certainly, there is nothing that happens in the few minutes before it turns off suggesting a reason.

    Any ideas please?

    Update 2 BIOS

I ve installed the different Toshiba updates available for this model. However, the update BIOS doesn t work. She is currently the version 1.60. I ve downloaded the version 1.80 for this model on the desktop. The zip file is bios-20150722112320. I extract it and it starts the process. The Tablet goes on to say it's reboot and then a panel will appear that says:

    InsydeH20 Flash secure
    Invalid firmware image!
Press any key to reset the system

It s a Tablet! While they want me to? I ve you press buttons - Windows and volume - but nothing happens. If I just leave it, it turns off after 30 minutes and we re back with BIOS version 1.60 and I can work as usual.

Although this seems excessive, but suggestions please?

Thanks a lot for any advice,
    John

It seems that your problem is similar to mine. I'm having the same random stop downs https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread...-Error-Code-10 also I have an error code 10 in Device Manager. The agenda called "Intel Trusted execution engine Interface"... are you facing the same error?

I sent my tablet at the service of Toshiba, it has been over a month now and still waiting to be informed about the problem!

No, there is no other update BIOS because victory BIOS update version is available on the Toshiba driver website.

I guess you need good work and battery charge in order to update the BIOS.

But why you want to update the BIOS? Is something wrong with the laptop?
The update of the BIOS is a very serious update and must be done very carefully
Incorrect procedure may damage the motherboard!

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 and I need to update the bios of a change in cpu cause.
The laptop works very well, but for some reason any with the new processor fan runs always full.

A lot, I searched but found nothing.
The model number is PSAC1E-0QL04CG3 of ideas where I can find the bios?

    THX in advance,
    John

    Hello

First of all: update BIOS doesn t help you.
Why do you think that BIOS update should help reduce the activity of fan?

I guess that your new processor is faster. Right?
So it offers more performance and this leads to higher heat dissipation... so finally the CPU must be cooled and this can be done only if the cooling module would turn faster you agree with me?

By the way: the update of the BIOS is on the page of the Toshiba UE driver. Since the satellite Pro A120 is very old series, you will need to search for drivers in area Archive (Type of product-> Archive)

  • Updating the BIOS is dead the satellite Pro P300-1AY

    Hi all

found this forum and really hoping that he can help me!
I bought a satellite Pro P300-1AY two years ago, it cost me £900 nr so I thought it would be worthy of a purchase.

A year ago the USBs stopped working, I do it every working solution I could think of anything will do, finally gave up and learned to live without USBs!

However, a few weeks ago, the laptop at the start stop, I didn't get was the black screen. Probably a video problem I did all the memory check hard drive everything else, however, it was only an intermittent problem, I found if I he tilted on the side she would begin, another thing to live with!

But two days ago, I heard that if I've updated the BIOS, it could solve all my problems. so I went to the Toshiba site, found the BIOS updated and downloaded, but to halfway through the installation, the laptop froze and I couldn't t he put it off and had to take the battery out to turn it off!

And ve you may have guessed, he's now won t start. Even its worst, LED lights, and if I put a disc in the cd I can hear it whirring, but that s it.

Is - this irreparable? I ve heard of priming of the cd with the original BIOS with a combination of keys or I'm hoping against hope?
Ty for your time in reading :)

    Hello

    > Is it irretrievably? I ve heard of priming of the cd with the original BIOS with a combination of keys or I'm hoping against hope?

Well, usually the BIOS could once again be reflashed, but you would need a traditional version of the BIOS update.
This version is available for Toshiba FSA.

So you will need to get in touch with a local ASP technician that could reflash the Rom BIOS module.
Eventually, after this update the specifications would be stable.

    Good luck

  • Update the BIOS - protected A600 problem

I'm trying to update my BIOS settings on my laptop (that I was invited to do by the service of Toshiba hardware update).

I followed all the instructions provided by the program because it extracted and ran the update. However, the computer began the reboot process, but has been 'disconnected' windows (Vista Business) for about an hour now. I don't know how to stop the process without causing serious damage to my BIOS, but this does not seem normal.

    Help, please!

    Hi wilreb...

I think that the user henharas a bad experience with the BIOS updates.
I updated the BIOS many times and never had any problems...

I assume you mean on Tempro software... this software informs you about updates on the Toshiba page. It is not a recommendation for an update, but simply an alert that new updates has been published...

If your laptop is running properly, then update the BIOS is not really necessary...
You must follow these tips; never change a running system ;)

In any case, after the update of the BIOS shouldn't take too long and if she has completed, you should see the new version in the BIOS settings...

    Check it out...

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

    No, no need to worry.

Updated the BIOS/UEFI is not a critical task and I would say that you leave like this for now.

General recommendation I provided to users/customers is NOT to upgrade the BIOS/UEFI, unless they live any sort of BIOS/UEFI problem specific. Just for updaing and update just for the use of the latest verson is not the solution. Any type of update (no matter what and that relesed it) can solve 2 problems but can introduce more than 10 questions. In addition, upgrading the BIOS (for any provider) are risky more because the BIOS recovery is not that easy compared to updates of typical software IF something goes wrong.

Update/update IF you have any specific questions that you know have been fixed in the new version or for some serious security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.

    See you soon!

  • Is it possible to update the BIOS for the Satellite A110 (PSAB0) and Windows7?

    Hi all

I recently installed Windows 7 on Toshiba Satellite A110 (PSAB0).
The version of the system BIOS is v1.30
I want to Flash the BIOS for you last version v2.0.
This version is released in January 2009, before the introduction of Windows 7.

There are two versions of the BIOS download, one "for Vista only' and one 'OS independent.
I think I have to go to the operating system independent.
    Link: [update BIOS | http://www.toshiba.nl/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EN&selCategory = 8 & selFamily = 192 & selSeries = 236 & selProduct = 661 & STAS hortMod = 478 & language = 1 = 12 & selOS & selType = 4 & yearupload = & monthupload = & dayupload = & we eDate = null & mode = allMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 24 & selectedLanguage = 12 & type = 4 & page = 1 & ID = 66230 & DISO =-1 & driverLanguage = 42]

Independent of the OS has warning: + "this Bios is NOT compatible for notebook computers equipped with Windows Vista!" + "

So here's my question: this BIOS version is compatible with Windows 7?

    Thank you very much!!

    AJ.

    Hello

I think that this BIOS (v2.0) is not released for Windows 7 and that it has also not been tested with Windows 7. This BIOS has published 21.01.2009 and Windows 7 was released on July 22, 2009. However, on the other hand it s not mentioned that this BIOS is not compatible with Win 7.

But the fact is that only Windows 7 doesn't is NOT supported on this laptop.

Windows 7 drivers are not out on Sat A110, but this does not mean that you couldn't install Win 7 on this device. Of course, you can install the Win 7 system, but Toshiba does not provide any Win 7 software for this series.

    Back to BIOS update:
In your case I would try not to update the BIOS if the laptop works properly.
Why? Because the update of the BIOS is still a technique sensitive and you could damage it the motherboard if something goes wrong during the update of the BIOS.
