  I have a group of three members (P5000, PS5000e & PS4100) equallogic I used storage Dell Update Manager to update all three to V6.0.11, but when I tried to update V7.0.10, he asked for the firmware of the hard drive for the PS5000.   A month ago the hard drive of my computer (ACER Aspire 6920) had to be replaced. The disk image hard precedent (which includes the c: with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, SP 2 build 6002) has been mirrored to the new hard drive. Everything seemed to work fine until I noticed that I don't have more updates from Microsoft. I tried a manual update and got the message that the update service was not working and I have to restart the computer. However, the Task Manager showed that the update service has been executed. Of course, I rebooted the computer, but nothing has changed.

  I found a whole bunch of recommendations for this issue in this forum, but nothing seems to work:

  • The Microsoft FixIT tool indicates a problem with the update of components, and then said that the problem had been solved successfully. However, the problem is still there and rerun the FixIt tool Gets the same message on a problem (yet) found and fixed.

  The same problem. Cloned old HD on a larger hard drive. Everything worked perfectly except NO indexing and update WITHOUT windows - the two recurring problems that seem to appear on the forums after a change of hard disk.

  INDEXING resolved with change to "Intel rapid storage technology." Google what I put in quotes, choose the Download Center and get the specific to your OP and the controller software.

  UPDATES have been a little more frustrating. The microsoft .fixes and convenience stores were without help.

  Stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service

  Stop Windows Update

  In 'My Computer' go to Windows / Software Distribution

  Return to Services and restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Update.
