Update Vista 64 Bit SP 2 remove icons from the taskbar for the power and sound.

When I installed the update to Vista SP2, my power and Volume icons disappeared from the taskbar. When I went to set the display for the Menu Taskbar properties, the option to do so is grayed out.  Go to the control panel to change the power options, it's annoying, but I can live with that because I do not often change. But having to go through the control panel to adjust the volume is a container of the slow cooker. How to view again?

Hi old giza,.

Thank you for using answers Forum.

I suggest you to re - install the driver for your sound card, this should restore function.

You can also consult the Web site of the manufacturer for an updated Vista driver.

I hope this helps.

  • On Windows 7 upgrade from vista 64 bit stops after that it says the settings and files of collection

I am tring to install Windows 7 upgrade from vista 64-bit.  I'm to the point where it says collect files and settings, and it stops running, and then in the details it shows 3 files located in the c: users\my name\appdata\local\temp\WER followed by numbers.tmp, then version, appcompat or mdmp. (example: wer5090.tmp.version.txt)  He said that these files are the reason. Any ideas how to solve this problem?

1 disable any security software before attempting to upgrade

    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)

    3. disconnect all external devices before installing.

    4. check your hard disk for errors:

    Click Start

Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD

    Click on "Run as Administrator"

At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    User account control permission

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

Also run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-7/Upgrade-Advisor.aspx

If the upgrade continues to fail, you might want to consider doing a custom installation:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Does anyone know how to remove icons of the homegroups and libraries from the desktop?

tried to find a way to do it without having to go into the registry...

    Windows7 Home Premium
After hours to be annoyed... I can't find any other way.

    1 Homegroup icon:
Open my computer, Control Panel, system and security, administrative tools, services, and then scroll down to: earphone homeGroup and homeGroup provider, disable both. Close, close the session. the icon should be gone when you log back.

    2. the icon libraries: carefully... Please, if there is no experience in the registry for assistance.

go to: start, run, type: regedit, select the HKEY_Local_Machine key, navigate to the bottom of conclusion: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
You will see several hexadecimal strings, select each in turn, and the right pane will show you which icon is selected. My icon library was the first chain and showed two lines on the right side of the page, the first being: usersLibraries and the second being: delete the message.

When you find the string to the appropriate library, create a new folder in your my documents named: registry back up, then highlight the chain on the left, go up to the upper-left corner of the page of the registry and click on file and then export. Save the registry file in your new folder location. I also recorded the two files on the right side of the page and call them what they were called on the page, so I would like to know what they were. (not sure I had to but he doesn't)

After you save the registry files, you can then remove the string that you selected on the left which in turn, displays the name userLibraries (on the right side of the page).

Poof it's finally gone! and always available in your saved folder

    Hope this helps

Solve a common problem of recovery with HP machines.
If the original operating system is changed to a non - Vista OS, the Recovery Manager cannot be launched either office or by pressing f11 at startup. You can use the recovery disk to restore the computer to the original state of Vista. If you are using a non - Vista OS, you can use a third-party partition management program to recover hard disk space.

  • Cannot remove Thunderbird mail all mail or the treaties since I changed my password for googlemail. Can't remove it from the Inbox and sent mail

I recently changed my googlemail password and saved a nine on Thunderbird. However, when I try to delete mail messages or my project all the files they reappear again and I have to go in googlemail to remove. I can delete in the Inbox and sent folders (even if I was prompted to enter the password for each of them at the start, but I have received no invitation for projects and all messages. I don't want to change the settings regarding where these messages are stored.

I thank very you much for your useful replies. I checked all the settings and they were as you described. Removal of all mail is not important and can be done, if necessary, from Gmail. I have overcome the problem of the drafts folder by changing the destination folder in the drafts IMAP that allows me to remove both Thunderbird and Gmail at the same time, which is what I needed. However, I still do not understand why change my Gmail password should have caused the problem in the first place!

  • After that installation of Windows 10 cannot remove messages from the Inbox and was told to change my browser.

I can't delete the emails often. Sometimes if I score one or two to remove it will work. When I have several and click on remove nothing happens. Also, when I delete an element of it is open and then return to my Inbox it is not deleted. I asked the support of Yahoo and the suggestion that came was change my browser, I don't want to do. Can you help me? Thank you.

I understand that the messages will not be deleted when you manage your webmail in Firefox. I'd be more than happy to help, however I might suggest trying first Safe Mode to ensure that it is not not a hardware acceleration or add on interfering with the operation of the site.

  • Bigger disk-swapping, but down two, possible to remove them from the table, and then expand?

    I have a R710 with a PERC 6 / i, Win 2008 R2 running. I have a small disk for the operating system, the other 5 bays are filled with 1 TB disks in a RAID array-5.

I need to add more storage, so I want to buy three discs of 3 TB. I plan on the withdrawal of old readers, and then put it in the new, bigger. I assume that it will take 1 of the 3 TB and repair. Leaving free 2 TB disk. Repeat this step twice more, which will result in three discs of 3TO with 6 TB of disk space not used in the RAID.

Is it possible to have the controller expand storage in my table of RAID-5 existing free space, and then delete the two remaining 1 TB disks in the array?

Who is? Is it still possible? Or do I have to backup the data on another storage device and delete the table and simply start a new one with the three discs of 3 TB and copy the data back?

    This will not work:

    (1) the PERC 6 won't take 3 TB drives; the maximum size is 2 TB.

    (2) you cannot delete records in a table - your RAID 5 5x1TB must always have records of 5 or more (you can add without deleting).  Even when using the same number of disks, isn't it possible to do the smaller table/VD.

    (3) even if you used 2 TB disks, there is no way to expand the RAID 5 using the extra space on the disks - with 5 disks in RAID 5, it will remain the same size. The only thing you can do with the new space is to create a second RAID array on the disks (called "slice").  This new VD is handled by the operating system as another "drive."

Keep in mind if backup and restore in a larger painting, as if the VD ('disc') is greater than 2 TB, the disc "" MUST be converted to GPT and active UEFI bootmode (instead of BIOS).  Make sure that your backup software is capable of restoring one using the BIOS install on a system UEFI (and the 'disc' TPG 'disc' MBR).

  • How can I permanently delete an icon from the notification area?

Whenever I start an icon composed of the white black '9' in a field number appears in the Notification area of my desktop tool bar.

Whenever I start, I have 'customize' on the toolbar and "hide" icon.  It always comes back.

Apparently, it has no function.  Make a right click on it, in the hope of finding an option 'discard', produces no response.

How can I delete the icon?

My OS is Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium edition.
