Update Vista error 8E5E03FB & 8E5E03FA

I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop, running Windows Vista Home Edition-32-bit only.  I ran Windows Update and get error Codes: 8E5E03FB & 8E5E03FA.  I can't find anything that explains what they are & correct.

http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/971058

If the problem persists, you can try the steps below and run Windows Update on your computer. It could help us solve the problem.

1 restart the computer in safe mode (to restart in mode safe keep pressing F8 on reboot).

2. click on the start menu and in the search box start type CMD.

3. in the list right click on CMD, and then click Run as administrator.

4. at the command prompt, type net stop cryptsvc.

5 rename C:\windows\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.old.

6 open the C:\windows folder, and then rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution as SoftwareDistribution.old.

7. at the command prompt, type net start cryptsvc, and press enter

8 restart the computer in normal mode

9. run updates and check if you are able to get the updates without any error.

It will be useful.

Thank you and best regards,

Srinivas

  • Windows Update (Vista) error codes

I was unable to install updates for months. I searched the web for a while, and finally today I discovered the program called 'UniBlue Registry Booster'. I downloaded that and cleaned up the whole registry, but still get the error codes when you try to update. 13 updates are not currently installed.

When checking for updates (not that I need to), I get this error: 80070424

When you try to download updates, I get this: 80070057

Please, I beg you. Help. And please be as descriptive and simple as possible; I know that jack _ on computers.

Preparatory stage: download the Norton Removal Tool and McAfee Consumer products removal tool (since you do not know which, if any, the free trial is preinstalled on the computer) and save them to your desktop (or the desktop of another computer), and then transfer the two executables (i.e. Norton_Removal_Tool.exe;) MCPR.exe) to a brand new, never been used the flash drive.

    1. back up your personal data (for example, My Documents;) Favorites of IE; all e-mail Client data) for the same thing, brand new, never been used flash drive.

2 format the HARD drive and do a clean install of Windows.

    3. uninstall any trial free Norton or McAfee & reboot.

    4. transfer ONLY the removal tool appropriate to the flash drive on the computer desktop and then right click on the executable and select run as administrator to run the utility. DON'T TOUCH your computer until the race is over, then reboot again.

5 after ensuring that the Windows Firewall is enabled, you can now connect your computer to the internet.

6 download/install/update Microsoft Security Essentials (preferred) & restart.

    7. perform a manual check of updates of Windows; Follow all the instructions.

  • Windows Vista update 80070490 error code

    Hello

Can someone help me with this problem! I tried everything under the Sun to fix this, so I hope you is more aware that me can help! ??

    Hello

This issue of update Vista seems to be known to Microsoft:

+ If you receive the Windows Update 80070490 error, this means that a file (CBS Manifest) that is needed to install updates is corrupt. To correct this problem, you will need repair Windows. Repair Windows will not damage your personal files or the programs that are installed on your computer. +

More details here how to solve this problem:

  • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit: Windows Update error Code 8E5E03FA

Okay, so I got Windows Update problems now for at least two months. I have worked with Microsoft technical support by e-mail and phone, but so far have had no luck, so I was hoping someone here might have an answer or an idea.

My computer has started giving 8E5E03FA error Code whenever I try to install windows updates. It would also sit at a standstill for always "checking for updates... "when I start updating windows. She has also always updates installed during shutdown, even if they never seem to install correctly. To try to remedy this situation, I tried a clean boot, I tried to use the tool of analysis of Windows 7, I tried to download the updates manually (they wouldn't install with error C80003FA), I tried to use the fixit tool to reset update windows (in aggressive and non-aggressive mode), I tried to manually reset windows update I ran ' sfc/scannow' (which has found errors that it could not solve), I tried an upgrade on the spot, and finally, I tried a clean install.

Once installed the clean, with nothing else installed, it wouldn't install updates, new fails with the error Code 8E5E03FA. It installs the office updates very well, he moved some other updates of the ms software very well, it installs the driver updated very well, but it seems not be able to install windows updates at all. At this point, there are 44 sitting in the pending updates, updates will be installed, which cannot be.

My computer also takes a lot of time to load completely once connected. The Office will be, but my anti-virus and the wifi won't start or connect to between 3-5 minutes after the connection, and trying to open anything during this period will not work. It seems that something is happening in the background that I'm not aware of.

Before the clean install, I ran the Windows 7 compatibility check and checked everything. So I'm at the end of my rope here, I don't really have any ideas on what to do. I put the windows update log and cbs logs if this will help.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

  • Update of Windows Vista; Error 80070002

Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, 64-bit operating system on a laptop HP DV6 with Internet Explorer Version 7 64-bit.

Whenever I start my laptop I get the message that I need to update, but when I try, it always gives me this error.  "Windows could not find update to cause the error code".

I tried and tried to get updates on day of work will meticulously steps, turning and by deleting files, but whenever I try I get the Windows update 80070002 error and when I re - check the files that I just deleted, the files are back in data storage folder. How can I stay deleted so I can get updates to these files?

I googled for remedies but none worked. It must be a common problem and I do not understand why MS cannot repair online.

    Thanks, Olypentax

I suspect that you currently see the effects of a hijackware infection, in which case you absolutely want to save all personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD drive & make a clean install of Windows 7.

HOW to do a clean install of Win7: see "using the custom installation option" and formatting the hard drive section ofhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) otherwise and before connecting a flash drive, card SD or any other external disk to the computer:

    3. do you have a Norton or McAfee free trial come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (No matter if you have never used or activated).
