Update Win7 on my computer

I got a desktop computer that has Windows XP and had also put 32 bit window7 Basic.
I have Windows 7 Professional 32 bit disk that has never been used.

My question is can I install the Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on the computer?

Hello Ela

At first, I must say that I do not understand if your question is not about Toshiba and Toshiba laptops but if you can find all the Win7 drivers for s office equipment I don't see any reason why you may not be able to install Win7 Professional.

  • Cannot update Win7 HP64 or download from any microsoft Portal

Help! I'm completely unable to update Win7 Home Premium 64, or downloading any content linked to or received by any portal Microsoft.

Using Windows Update I got 80072EE2 error code. After searching all the forums I have found the only proposed solution was disable third-party firewalls and try again. I completely turned off all firewalls and antivirus, including Microsoft Defender software. It made no difference. I can't update Windows, Xbox Live, Windows Live or receive content from any of these. Also could not activate Win7 online.

The only other thing I can think is that I am using a connection Mobile Broadband (Vodafone Vodem - Huawei NZ) running Vodafone Mobile Connect v9.2.1.6545) this could be a part of the problem? Never had any problems with XP.

    Can anyone help?

    SOLVED!

Found this solution on... another forum. (sorry)

Enter [netsh], then [winhttp] in the command line so that the screen looks like this later.

Now enter the command [import source proxy = IE]. This will import the Internet Explorer proxy settings, which means either a direct access to the Internet without a proxy if no server is configured or the proxy server used to connect to the Internet.

If the problem was a proxy server, this should solve problems connecting to Windows Update. WinHTTP may also be used to define a specific proxy server by using the [proxy set address] command. A reboot may be required before changes are taken into account (or kill the explorer.exe process and reload).

Fortunately Windows updates as I type. Value, bit late, then 108 mb.

    Thanks for your help though!

  • It is safe to connect to the internet to update XP if the computer has not been used for a good year or so?

Hi all - I have another laptop which has remained unused for probably over a year or more, and I want to start using it again. It works under XP, and currently has Service Pack 2 installed. My question is: is it safe to connect to the internet now and start downloading all the required Windows updates? My concern is that, as just like the anti-virus, firewall, even Windows itself have not been updated in so long, it would be imprudent to start the internet connection at this point? Is it safe to go forward and to connect and update, or is it better to download updates etc on another computer, put it on a disc/USB and then use it to install updates? Thanks in advance!

Consider that he is therefore authorized to connect the computer to our broadband services to update the anti-anti-virus/firewall?

Yes, as long as the firewall is turned on and that's the first thing you do online (i.e., no surfing, no audit e-mail, no chat, no download of anything else).

The Windows Security Center will let you know if something went wrong.

You're welcome and thank you very much for your comments!

    Hi Colin Davis,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Forums.
    1. try performing clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796
    2. check if you have the same problem in safe mode
    3. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, click Accessories, right-click command prompt, and then click Run as administrator, and in the command prompt, type sfc/scannow. Restart the computer and check.

Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Update KB971033 allows my computer to start normally

Hi I recently built a computer and used the operating system windows 7 home. However, when I restart my computer after that windows update KB971033 downloads my computer does not start normally. The reason for that it starts is not due the file ' / C:/windows/system32/drivers/iastor.sys' be corrupted. I had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall all drivers and the windows twice now. I looked in the update and know it's for the prevention of piracy but I bought my drive from windows 7 legitimately to a well known store. The update always occurs about a day after I installed windows as well if that helps. Does anyone know why it keeps happening? I know this isn't my computer itself.

Set up your computer to download updates manually.

Review of the update, right-click and click Hide.

  • Code 0x8000FFFF error when updated Win7

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

I try to install 7 updates for Win7 professional, released on February 9, 2010. After you download UPDATES February 9, installation starts, but only a single update, "Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool" installs successfully. The other six updates do not settle. I get an error code: 0x8000FFFF.

Until February 9, 2010 version, all updates were downloaded and installed successfully.

Thanks to the module of the system restore, I returned to a previous state of Win7 (31 January 2010). Windows Update displays now 10 updates available, 7 output on 9 February and 3 out the or to Jan 26.

I DISABLED all Feb 9 version updated. Ther 3 Jan 26 updates downloaded and installed successfully! I restarted Windows to complete this insllation and then tried to install updates for Feb 9 sept. These updates download completely, but only the Windows Software Removal Tool (KB890830) installs. The other 6 do not settle as a group or individual selection.

I repeated this procedure, with the same result, using System Restore to return to the Jan 31 Win7.

My Win7Pro was bought directly from Microsoft (pre-release order) and installed from CD "Update is designed for Windows Vista".
