Update Windows XP SP3 is abandoned during the installation of UNIDRV. DLL and displays the message "the system cannot find the file specified."

When the update of Windows XP is install SP3, the sequence is abandoned at the location of the process.  After you download the SP3, the progresses set install through the normal initialization sequence, inspection, creating list of 3rd drive part, backup files, etc., begins to install the files but when to reach the "UNIDRV. The installation of the file "DLL" stops and I get a message "the system cannot find the file specified".  The close message will invalidate all the installation and possible automatic restart.  I did not locate a UNIDRV. DLL file and copy it to my C:\ root directory but have tried almost everything in the 22/01/12 'terribrownQF' and the response "Tommy Stanley" 22/01/12 no change where the installation of SP3 crashes.  Should I try to put the UNIDRV. DLL file on my computer?  Any other ideas?

I had to reinstall clean Windows 7 64-bit because of the failure of the RAID 1. I have a picture of my original installation system, but I can't restore it; everything I try, I get the message "system cannot find the specified file (0 x 80070002).  I work through a number of possible solutions, without success so far.

According to the kb/951002 (that is for Vista but I can't find an alternative for Win 7) I made sure that the SYSTEM account has read permission for the backup folders and subfolders.  However, the file structure of the specified in the above article backup folder is different from my image file structure.  Specifically, article specified a structure of 'N.zip' file for the backup files but mine are a mixture of XML documents and VHD - i.e. no "zip" files Also, my GlobalCatalog file does not what kind of file, for example, it wouldn't ".wbcat" required file type specified in the article.

The differences above could explain the inability to restore the image and if so, any ideas on what to do about it?

Are windows puts an administrator account during the installation?  I'm the only admin user on windows, but I can't do much like I said I need admin which remove, access or open the files.

    I use windows 7

    Original title: Admin account

You must be an administrator, because the first account you create during Setup must be an administrator-level account.  There is also a built-in account (with a current name 'administrator'), but it is disabled, unless you are in Safe Mode (restart hold F8 for safe mode).  As soon as the integrated, you can sign in and upgrade your real account on a daily basis at the level of administrator control panel.

Note: even if you are an administrator, some processes will ask confirmation continue.  This is recommended because it prevents the virus of piracy of your profile and using your account.

Original title: re install windows 8.1.

I have problems with my computer and want to re install windows 8.0. I had upgraded my computer windows 7 to windows 8 but can't update windows like systems to give me an error that it cannot find a file and he needs me to insert the media.  I insert the windows disc 8, but the system indicates that it is not the correct information.  He is looking for another disc?  I created a recovery usb drive, but that doesn't seem to help.  I feel that I have completely new install windows 8 but I am nervous of course think I mess up something.  given that this computer was originally shipped with windows 7, I have to use the recovery discs I've done initially or is there a way to create new ones with the new windows 8?

    Hello and welcome!

If you are using a CD to upgrade of Windows 8, then there not all reinstall the files included for a full Windows.

Your best option is to use the recovery partition on your hard disk or the recovery CD from your PC back to Windows 7. Then Windows 7 SP1 upgrade and get all updates. Then, move to Windows 8 again.

Also have a related problem about MS Maliciouws software removal tool. For download, but read in the KB that: in XP, the vacuum cleaner will remove the malware, but doing so may trigger the File Protection Win with damages to my operating system.  the tool will attempt to repair the damage, but to rehabilitate prior to infection, that I need to insert the CD of Win. As my computer came with Windows preinstalled, I do not have a disk and will not take the risk of damage, that I can't fix. Do I not download or not... ? Another solution... ?  I also fear that this tool could settle into the routine Win Update and need guidance on the prevention of this facility, if possible, or what to do if it cannot be prevented.

    Hello

    ·         You have Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer?

If you have windows installed on your computer security essentials, then you will not be able to install Windows defender. Windows Security Essentials has antispyware component installed.

You get the error because you have installed MS Security Essentials, which has its own function to antimalware. You don't need or want to install Windows Defender, too. Leave MS Security Essentials installed and do not turn it off.

That's good news. I think you also need to analyze of rootkits being on the right side. So, now:

Search for rootkits with a program SPECIALLY designed to detect and remove the (aswMBR):

Download this file to your desktop. Double-click the icon to run the program. When the opportunity to download and install the latest Avast definitions do.
Run a scan. Results in red indicate that this was not a false positive! Do you need to remove the rootkit (including "FixMBR" if necessary).

And finally, leave your PC on overnight and search for viruses, using this site:
Once we are convinced that your PC is clean, here are my instructions (just in case where you still cannot run batch of Geek-Tech file, etc.):

    1. download the installation of SP3 and IE8 (beforehand) files. I prefer to keep these (and other useful files) on a USB key, but this is optional. Here are the links for the installation files:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=24 (for SP3)

(You can TOTALLY ignore the message "intended for it professionals"!)

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=43 (for IE8)

(You need to install IE8 AFTER SP3! Trust in me.)

    IMPORTANT NOTE!

It is VERY important to ensure that Internet Explorer is at the level IE6 before installing SP3. In case you have IE7 or IE8, you must uninstall it / them, using the Control Panel Add / Remove programs. Let us know if you need assistance with this.

    Once again:

Make sure that IE is IE6 level before installing SP3. You can go directly from IE6 to IE8 after SP3 has been installed.

    2. disconnect Internet. Also unplug all unnecessary devices.

    3. temporarily disable the automatic updates. To do this:

Start | Control Panel (switch to Classic view if not already selected). Automatic updates

4 set up a clean boot. The last thing you need is for a program that runs in the background to interfere with these updates! (It happens!) For more information:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

(Note that this is the same as setting up a "Diagnostic boot.")

    Reset.

5 install the SP3. Restart TWICE.

6 switch to IE8. Restart TWICE.

(What happens very often is that someone has their software antivirus running as they try to install SP3, which often translates into chaos! "This is why it must be done after installing SP3 and IE).

7 unscrew the clean boot. (That is, return to the Normal startup).

8 make sure that firewall Windows is activated (it should already be):

Start | Control Panel | Security Center

9 visit Windows Update to download and install only the critical security updates. Restart each time you are prompted.

10 re - enable automatic updates.
