Update0000057 (KB97784) fails to install, error code57E

Important update update fails repeatedly. If anyone can help?

You have Office 2003 installed?

If Yes, try this

FIX: You * may * be able to use to Repair Office 2003 to identify the keys to the problem and then use the Registry Editor to change the relevant key permissions:

1. connect to your computer as an administrator (if you can install programs, it is likely that you are an admin).

2. run the Registry Editor (Start > run and run regedit).

3. in the registry from backup of your registry Editor (select the top node of the computer, and then click file > export, save the file somewhere sensitive.). (Do not close the registry editor, yet).

4. run a repair for Office 2003 (see relevant Microsoft KB).

5. When you get an error in the repair process using the registry editor, find the EXACT registry key named on the command prompt (using the easy to find, Ctrl + F4 and F3 to repeat).

6. right click on the key and select permissions on the shortcut menu.

7 set the user groups to enable total control and reading (click OK to save the changes).

DO NOT CHANGE A KEY UNLESS IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS IN THE REPAIR LINE.

8. in repair, click the Retry button.

9. If the error prompt is replaced by another invite for a different key then the fix worked. Repeat step 5 above for the new registry key.

10. If the error reoccurs prompt then repeat step 6, but assign another likely group of total control, for example the system.

11 when all the keys have been updated and the repair finishes and then close the registry editor, then try Windows Update again.

12. If this does not correct the problem, then you must restore your backup registry file.

PostScript: If you experience system problems after that you can restore the registry by double-clicking the registry file that you saved. If you can not do a repair of Office or run the registry editor, then you may not be an administrator.

I hope this helps.

The two KB982132 and KB972270 updates failed to install (twice) with error message that appears now is no longer on the 0x8007001F support page.

    Hello

I recently had a problem with Vista Home Premium SP2 suddenly refuse to recognize my Creative Zen MP3 player even if the player is recharged when the unit is installed.

When I plug the Zen to a USB port it says "install the driver software for device" informed me then that "Device driver software has not been installed successfully - MTP device. This is regardless of whether I'm using a USB hub or a USB motherboard.

In Device Manager under portable devices is an MTP device with a yellow exclamation point and tells me "this device cannot start (code 10)". I offer myself to check the solutions with Microsoft. This produces nothing - a result, nor anything else besides!

The research of this forum and the net I found and tried a number of soilutions, but nothing helped. However, there is one thing that I did not try to Fixit. However, this requires Windows PowerShell and when I try to install this it requires KB 928439 and this patch do constantly moved with the error code 80070005.

Any suggestions to solve the problem of origin with the MP3 player or the installation of Windows PowerShell would be greatly appreciated.

    Any help gratefully received.

    Hello

Because you have tried all the steps of troubleshooting and still faces questions, I suggest you do an InPlace upgrade using the Installation of Windows Vista disc.

Note Run a repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer. However, before you perform an Inplace upgrade, you can take a backup of important data. In case of a worst case scenario, you may have to reinstall all the programs. Make sure that you back up personal data to disks or other external storage devices before performing an upgrade on the spot. To perform an upgrade in-place, follow these steps.
    a. close all running applications.

    b. Insert the Windows Vista DVD into the DVD drive of the computer.

    c. in the settings window, click install now.

Note If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:

Click on start and type Drive: \setup.exe in the box to start the search.

Note The placeholder drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD.

    List programs, click Setup.exe.

In the settings window, click install now.

    a. click go online to get the latest updates for installation (recommended).

    b. type the CD key if you are prompted to do so.

    c. in the "Windows Installer" page select the operating system you want to update or Inplace.

    d. click Yes to accept the Microsoft software license agreement.

    e. on the which type of installation you want? of the screen, click upgrade.

    f. when the installation is complete, restart your computer.

For more information, please see the link:

How to perform an upgrade on the spot on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

Once the upgrade has completed, you must activate your copy of Windows Vista.

For more information about how to activate Windows Vista, see the following article:

    How to activate Windows Vista?

All the posts I found on this subject seems to point to DNS being the issue. The problem is, I have functional DNS in my lab environment. The installation computer and the VCSA are both able to resolve host names and can ping each other.

I saw another post where a user has success adding DNS records manually to the local hosts file, but it did not help for me at all.

I have the following Setup in my lab environment:

    172.16.24.0/24 - subnet

    172.16.24.1 - router/gateway

    172.16.24.2 - DNS server

172.16.24.15 - desired vcenter server IP

    172.16.24.16 - ESXi host

I use the "wh121e.lab" for the DNS domain. The vCenter server should appear in the "vcenter.wh121e.lab".

I provided "vcenter.wh121e.lab" and "vcenter.wh121e.lab." as the name of the system, and didn't work. I have assigned static IP address and the DNS server that is appropriate, as you can see.

The attached screenshot shows that the installed device, but not VCSA is able to fix the desired name and she has the right IP address assigned. It shows also the last few lines Journal of firstboot showing the error message.

The only possibility I could understand why what happens is that, for some reason, VCSA plans to 'laboratory' to be an invalid TLD. If that were the case, however, it would be really bad news for VMware, as tons of new TLDS are popping up every week it seems limiting to a list of predefined TLDs and systematically failed on any other would be a very bad idea.

Any advice? If you need several newspapers let me know.

    Thank you

I am answering my own question - it looks like the problem was indeed still a DNS issue, but a more obscure.

Looking through the logs on the device failed vCenter revealed the VCSA uses the command 'dig deeper' to perform the audit of the DNS name. While working 'nslookup', 'dig deeper' was not because of the DNS server I was using (a former DNS based on Windows). I have configured and installed a server based on Linux PowerDNS and now everything seems to be OK.

In the interest of everyone - make sure that your DNS server supports "EDNS. To actually properly test if your DNS environment works, do not answer on nslookup , but use it rather 'dig deeper' as follows:

    short NUM + your.servers.dns.name

If everything works correctly, you should get a response in line with the IP address of your server. If you get a blank line, something is wrong. You can leave off the '+ brief' to see all the details. If you get a type SERVFAIL "FORMERR" then your DNS server probably is outdated and does not support EDNS. If you the do 'dig + noedns your.servers.dns.name' and it does not work, then that confirms that the problem is that you need a DNS server more modern.

    I hope this helps others!
