Updated the Windows 10 Qualcomm AR9485 Atheros Wifi Card Driver

Currently, I encounter a similar problem with my HP Envy 17 Qualcomm AR9485 Atheros wifi adapter. The ethernet connection works but not WiFi. I can only connect to wifi after I immediatnly reset my router. All other devices work with the router. If the HP Envy 17 goes to sleep or stay on for an extened period, it disconnects and is not able to reconnect to my network. I had a similar problem to connect to another wireless network.  I've updated, restored, disabled and reinstalled the drivers from the adapter to any wifi avil. I returned at various points system retore. I tried everything except uninstall Windows 10. The HP Envy 17 is longer under warranty. At this point, should I open the laptop and replace the wifi card, or is there something that I have not tried?

Thanks much for the reply, EmeraldAvenger. Yes, I tried all of your suggestions. It was never a red X in Device Manager. I tried different sleep mode power options and channels (1-11) on the router settings. I have reset the BIOS. I even contacted my ISP, who assured me that the issue was with my laptop, not the connection. The only way I could solve this problem was to remove the Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 wireless adapter and replace it with the wifi Intel 7260 inside my laptop adapter. I had no problem since since the swap. In fact, my connection is now faster and more reliable. I suggest to all who encounter this problem to just go ahead and replace the Atheros AR9485 Qualcomm. It is unforunate that HP has saddled 17 envy with this apparently faulty piece of equipment, but they have several useful videos on their support site to guide users how to disassemble their laptop.

    I have a laptop of HP2000 running Windows 8.1

I was hoping an update for this network card because I had problems with connectivity network for several weeks and several times the windows diagnostic resets this network adapter.

I get the notice via HPSA that there (2) updates to this network adapter.   I can download updates, but the installation failed on both and I don't know why or where to look to find out why.  Study now has me completely confused.  Here is what is currently installed on my laptop:

    Qualcomm-Atheros 802.11b/g/n WiFi AR9485 adapt

    SoftPaq number: SP65428

    Driver date: 12/11/2013

    Driver version: 10.0.0.274 (1.00Ap7)

This update of the driver was JUST installed on 14/04/2014 (3 weeks)

Here is the info on what HPSA watch are updated for this card-

Updates download but would not install.

    * Qualcomm Atheros AR9000 series Wireless LAN Driver for MS Windows

    SoftPaq number: SP62425

    Version: 1.00Ap17

    Size: 38,27 MB

(research on hp.com for SP62425 the date this update 26/06/2013)

Both of these driver updates seem to be more OLD than what I currently installed?

If I go My HP account have my system scanned for updates, the SP65428 I have already installed is displayed. Neither HPSA showing that I should install appear on my updates.

I guess the question I have now, it is what is the most current, correct pilot and working for AR9485 of Qualcomm Atheros 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter?

And if that's what I have already installed it, why I received this notice am updates HPSA?

    Thank you.

By a post elsewhere in the Forums of HP, current updated driver are available at http://www.station-drivers.com/ .

    I downloaded and installed

    Version: 10.0.0.287

    Published 25/03/2014

and from this moment, everything seems to work properly.

I would still like someone to confirm that it is suitable for the AR9000 Qualcomm Atheros driver series network adapter for Windows 8.1.  And if I NOW the current driver is there a glitch in HPSA to send assignments to update driver irrelevant?

    Thank you!

Here is a document from HP on troubleshooting wireless network and Internet with a number of different troubleshooting steps you can try including the resolution of the problems Windows integrated. Here are some additional things more to try.

    Network power cycle:

  • Update the window hangs on reboot (stuck at 15%).

So, I recently participated a construction of a new Windows 7 machine. The installation went well, everything works fine. That is until it came time to install the latest updates. When I try to install the updates, he does his thing and prompts to restart the computer. When I restart, it begins to apply updates and gets stuck at 15%. I let it sit for hours and just 15%. The only way I can get out is to kill the power and restart the computer. When it restarts, the same problem exists.

    Here's the update in question:

Please let me know if you can help. Thank you.

    Hello

1 did you encounter any error messages during the installation of the updates?

You tried to install several updates in a single attempt that might have caused the conflict.
Our first goal is to start the computer successfully. We can try a few methods.
First check to see if there are external devices attached to the computer, if so remove and check.

    Method 1.
Let us run repair system at this stage, it might solve the problem.
See the following articles for additional help and steps on startup repair.

What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7

    Method 2.
I recommend you to restore system using a Windows 7 DVD.
    Here's how:
To open the Options menu system recovery using a system repair disc or a Windows 7 installation disc
If your system is damaged and cannot access the menu system on your computer Recovery Options, you can access it using the Windows 7 installation disc or a system repair disc previously.
To use this method, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the disk.
    a. Insert the disc.
    b. restart your computer using the power button on the computer.
    c. If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
o If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer.
    d. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    e. If you are using the Windows installation disc, click on repair your computer.
    f. Select the Windows installation you want to repair, and then click Next.
    g. in the System Recovery Options menu, click a tool to open it and then choose the system restore and check.

If we are able to boot to the desktop now I asked to install the updates one by one and check which application is at the origin of the conflict.
    Method 3.
If the bows persists please verify if you are able to boot safe mode.

If the problem exists not in Mode safe run mode startup minimum troubleshooting to find the root cause of the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.

    I hope this helps.

  • I can't update the Windows Defender definitions and get this message: the program can't check for definition updates. Error: Code 0xc8000408.

Impossible to find info on what this means or what to do so I can again update in Windows Defender. This error message has begun to appear recently, or at least I think. I thought it was set to automatic update, but when I tried to do it manually because it says it's expired. Tried several times but get the same message every time.

You are welcome. Your computer must NOT be connected to the internet or networks without a fully functional antivirus, completely update installed application. But first, let's take care of any Norton "leftovers"...

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

Now, you will need to download/install an antivirus application. While I do not recommend professionally AVG, you might find that AVG Free 9.0 more compatible if you choose a CUSTOM this time installation above and don't install NOT of Linkscanner Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, security or the email of crawl components toolbar.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email
       http://thundercloud.NET/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

Otherwise, I can recommend Microsoft Security Essentials*, Avira AntiVirand Avast (all free) and NOD32 and Kaspersky (not the suites 'internet security'). After you have installed your AV application selected, manually & repeatedly updated until you get one invites 'no more updates'.

[Avoid Norton & McAfee IMHO applications.]

    =============================
    * Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) includes components of antivirus and antispyware protection. The latter will replace (and must turn off automatically) Windows Defender in Vista.

  • Updates the window appear when shutting down, but do not set up the next time you start

The display shows 15 updates of Windows are loaded (installed?) when the machine is stopped.  To restart Windows, the screen indicates "wait" while the updates are being configured.  The icon indicates that the configuration is current, but the screen always said that "0% are completed.  Then, after a few minutes, the screen indicates something as "installation failed; Revenant.  After the message 'return', the machine moves to the usual Windows 7 start page and asking to connect you as usual (which allows me to work on the machine).   So, the next time I shut down Windows, the screen indicates that the installation of several updates continues and is completed in series.  Then, the next time I turn on the machine it asks to wait while updates are configured;  and finally, it "fails to complete the configuration" and "resets" as described above.  What happened several times in the last two days.  What should I do to get this resolved failure?

    Hi BonnieDoon,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. you receive error message during the update by installing the process?

    Method 1

See the Microsoft article below as well as try the steps mentioned and check if it works.

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358

    Method 2

Restart the computer after you follow the steps above and check if the problem persists, if the problem persists then checks the update is not being properly installed on the computer and then install it manually.

View update history to know which update is not installing.

    (a) open Windows Update by clicking Start , all programsand then click Windows Update.

    (b) in the left pane, click view update history.

    (c) to view more information about an update, double-click it.

Once you know the update's KB number then visit the Microsoft Download and put the number in the search box, download and install the update manually.

Hi, the bad news is that .NET Framework is damaged and you will need to reinstall it.

Use it as a guide (I got the same error 0x66a code):

When you try to install an update for .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update '0 x 643' error code or error code Windows install "1603".

When installing updates using Windows update or Microsoft Update you may receive error 80070643 0 x or 0 x 643

Regarding the cleaning tool, download it here, use the 2nd link on the download page:http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx

When I have had problems with the .NET Framework and had to reinstall, use the cleanup tool to remove all frames on my computer.

With the help of WU (automatic), I then installed .NET Framework 3.5 and then returned to 1.1, 1.1 SP. Leave it to THE day those and if all those optional went for them.

After all, I even threw in .NET Framework 4.

It was annoying and time consuming but now .NET Framework is up to date and works well.

As to why it became corrupt, who knows.
