Updated WiFi Satellite P10-805

I have built in wifi card, but it is only of 11mbs. Can I put a pc wifi card (at 54mbs) or will that cause all sorts of problems? I have a card 'free' 54mbs already, if possible, how can I do?

Hello

I put t think that there should be no problem. As Sam said already try it. Only in this way you will find out if it works or not.

Good luck!

  • Satellite P10-304 - update Windows 7 problem

I have a Satellite P10 304 to 2003 which has Windows XP, but I need to update for obvious reasons. I bought a copy of Windows 7 (32 bit) and installed without any installation problem, however I can't update Windows.

I reinstalled, deleted the hard drive and reinstalled again. Tried the stop and start the Windows Update utility.
    Downloaded the stand-alone Windows Update.

Updated the BIOS to V2.0 and downloaded the Toshiba Service Station application (who says no update is necessary).
    All this without success.

My hopes were raised when I saw that the Station Service for Windows 7 32 bit software was available for the P10 304 but I am now at a loss.

Anyone know if this laptop can be upgraded to Windows 7 and how to get updates of work?

    Help is welcome.

    Peter

I'm sure that installation of Windows 7 update problems are not specific to Toshiba problems even if you use the Toshiba laptop.

From my point of few, you should check the Microsoft support pages to find the solution.
    For example this:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/w...#1TC=Windows-7

Just a tip: I had some problems in the past to install updates because of the antirust software. He locked the installation of some essential updates and after you disable temporal, updates could be installed...
Missing Service Packs might concern the single installation of patches.

I have tried and failed to update the BIOS of my Satellite P10 (PSP10E). I downloaded the bios - 20070807133603.zip because it is the update available for this machine.
When I extracted it and run the SETUP program. EXE file I get a message warning "rom size incorrect." The other extract file is al00200a.rom.

    Can anyone help?

Found the answer here - [http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB59014X0000R01.htm] - via Google.

Fundamental problem, is that I was by double-clicking the zip instead of a click right-extract all.

  • Satellite P10-304: replacing a WLan card - can I the same WiFi chip?

    Hi all

got a satellite P10-304 of a companion here.
He said the free thread never worked on it and hes had it years and someone else has already looked at and changed the TNA wireless card.

Basically, she acts only as the wireless switch does not work and it remains permanently off the coast, although the drivers install correctly and map also shows ok. Simply disconnected.

Now, I thought, okay, I'll take a look because I'm pretty good on the old hardware. Has taken apart and this you know, switch has been bent and not up. I handed the place, checked the switch and stop positions with a multimeter to check the switch worked and he was doing his job perfectly.

    Now it still doesn't.
I guess it is now due to the fact that as I said, the map has been changed since its origin to a processor intel pro jobby.

My question is, I'm right, do I just need to get the same card that was originally in it. I assumed that when the switch is set correct return, that I solved it.

    Hello

The WiFi card must be activated bu switching the switch TO the position (the LED must illuminate) and in addition, you should choose the WLan antenna using the FN + F8 key combination.

    Please check this!

Notes; go to Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab Wlan card
There you can check if the WiFi is enabled as well.

  • No activity after updating BIOS on Satellite P10

I own a Satellite P10 part No. PSP10C-07610. I'm trying to update the BIOS with the update of the BIOS (Windows Setup) Version 2 that I found on the site of drivers & downloads for Toshiba Canada. After the execution of exe. file (I think that on the end of the process) my laptop off and since only the system starts up.

The hard drive doesn't show any activity. It is similarly of the screen (even with an external monitor). The unit shows LED market, but nothing more.
    Does anyone have a solution?
    Thank you
    Alex

Did you follow the guidelines recommended by Toshiba Canada this site BIOS?
    http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/TSBs/all/-tsb000728.htm

Your description does not sound very well.
I mean it looks like that the BIOS update procedure went wrong and only EPA could help solve this problem.

Maybe you are a lucky man and only the BIOS has to be flashed again.
Ask if the service provider authorized in your country a help!

  • Satellite P10 874: update BIOS wrong changes the serial number?

    Hello

I have Satellite P10 874, my model number has erased the background after years of use.
I recently did an update of the Bios of the Web from Toshiba site and realized more late it was for the SP10E models.

Well my system did not fall down. (Part no) model number change if you update with a version of Bios, not intended to be your system?

My system is still under warranty, but the new model series/number combo is shown as invalid global law database. My USB ports don't work anymore after that it showed a message of power surge.

I need to go to the customer Service. Is there a way to retrieve my originial model no and not?

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Concerning
    lejoe

A 'bad' Biosupdate does or does not replace the modelnumber of your machine. So you don t have to worry when you give the machine to a service centre, they have the ability to retrieve your serial number with their system and understand the modelnumber of your machine.

With regard to your USB ports: send the machine to your local concern for service-center and Don t on the modelnumber stuff. Your machine is still under warranty and since they will change about your pcb, your worries on the bad bios system is useless.

Furthermore, I can't imagine that you seriously a bad bios Flash, since the machine during the biosupdate ususally scream if you try to Flash a bios wrong on it.

  • Satellite P10-304 - the card WiFi mini pci can add?

    Hello

    I have a Satellite P10-304.
I would like to add a mini PCI Wireless.
Can someone tell me one would suit this machine.

    Thank you

Do you see black and white antennas near the Mini PCI Slot?

If this isn't the case, then you can not install a Wifi card. He won't get any reception. You get a USB Wifi instead.

If you have the antenna, Intel 802.11bg card (2200BG) should work. http://www.Intel.com/support/wireless/WLAN/pro2200bg/

Its a good idea to buy the card from Toshiba (via an ASP) since the Wifi card can be modified to work correctly in the P10.
If you buy a generic MiniPCI Wifi card, he can switch Wifi does not work properly.

  • Satellite P10-133: I want to use the WLAN

    Hello

What should I do when I want to use the WLAN with the satellite P10 133?

    Thanx

    Hello

First that you check if your laptop has been equipped by the wireless network adapter.
If this isn't the case, then you need to update.
The easiest way would be a use of the WLan USB key.

Check your WLan router level. There are different WiFi standards such as 802.11 A, B, G and N
If your WLan router supports 802.11 B and G, then you should buy and stick that would support both standards too!

Then configure the WiFi network (especially it s described in the installation instructions provided with WLan stick) and the WLan router.

  • A few questions about several issues around Satellite P10 (PSP16)

    Hi all

First post! After about 3 months of no solution, I decided to pop in here. I recently acquired a Satellite P10-832 PSP16E.
The laptop was in a bad state when I got it so I erased the HARD drive.
The problem was that after that I reinstalled XP Pro top I could not Wifi works again. When I press FN and F8 nothing happens.
I downloaded all kinds of things from the page of the driver on the toshiba site, but nothing seems to work.
The same goes for the small buttons on the front (mode, play, pause, etc.)

A pointer to the people one would appreciate it!

    Steve

    Hello

The solution is very simple; You must install the correct drivers.

The Toshiba page offers two different WLan drivers for this unit. Agere and Atheros Wlan driver.
You must verify that the WiFi card has been installed and then install the correct driver.

In addition you cannot use the FN keys because the right utility has not been installed!
On the Toshiba driver page, you will find details for the unique software. You should check more information.

You must E - Key and Easy Button applications.
If you have installed SP2, then you need to check the information contained in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 update information that are placed on the page of Tosh too.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P10 722: what Mini-PCI WLAN can I integrated?

    Hello

I have a Satellite P10 722. It seems to be ready wireless (it has an LED to show the WLAN activity). I would use an internal Mini-PCI card in it. Ideally, it would be a b/g card.

Anyone know what model/part number Mini-PCI card will work with this laptop.
She is not in the list of compatibility of the any of the maps on this page (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/options_and_accessories_search.jsp?z=16&service=UK & selOptionCategory = 4696)

    Thanks for your help,
    Shane

    Hello Shane

Sorry, but this kind of information can give you just the authorized service partner. I don't know if the P10 722 is ready WLAN but you can check only. In the lower corner of the unit, you will find WiFi coverage. Remove it carefully and check if there are two antenna WLAN (black and white) cables. If so, the device is definitely ready WLAN.

Contact the Service partner and ask them for you to adapt to your model of laptop. As far as I know, the consultation is free.

Just for info. One of my friends has P10 with WLAN (802 11b Agere) card.

    Good bye
