  The first thing we do is to disable all firewals / anti virus running. This can sometimes block windows update and therefore cause errors like the one you describe.

  I can't open LR4. I get an "unexpected error opening catalog.   I then try 'create a new catalog', get the Windows screen, enter a new name and click "Save".  The same thing happens.  The Windows screen goes away and the window "Select a catalog" LR still shows the catalog of moose in the list.  So, I can not create or choose a different catalog.  I'm doing something wrong?

  I solved this problem by replacing the applications folder and the Adobe folder in the library - folder of Application support with the files from before the last update of Mavericks using Time machine.

  Welcome to the Microsoft answers site.

  This problem can occur because the device sends data of strength of signal for Windows. These data can be interpreted as input device real, such as the movement of the mouse, button activity or strikes. Therefore, this transmission can prevent Windows mode 'sleep'. Windows must enter "sleep" mode to activate the screen saver.

  I suggest that you update the drivers for all devices on the computer entry. You can update the drivers from Device Manager and check.
