Updates of windows installed and now unable to get online with the Explorer.

I am running windows vista and installed updates and now cannot get online.  I tried to run the system restore, but that did not help.  This happened once before when the only web sites that I could access were secure web sites, I have changed the security settings and that fixes the problem.  Nothing works for now.

I'll get more info from my computer at home tonight and add to that tomorrow.

Thank you!!

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

=========================

Error message after you install an update of Windows Internet Explorer from Windows Update or from Microsoft Update: "cannot display the webpage".
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/942818

If not help to tweak the parameters of your third-party firewall, try the following:

1. disable your antivirus, all modules of Norton (as applicable), a real-time protection provided by an anti-spyware application (with the exception of Windows Defender; includes the Tea Timer of Spybot, AVG AS guard.exe, SpySweeper guards, etc.), disable the third-party firewall AND THEN select Windows Firewall.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) except #4 below until your antivirus application has been reactivated!  If you use a free ZA firewall, you may need to uninstall instead of disable.

2 uninstall 'update Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 7 (or 8) for Vista (KB976325)' or "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB976325)" via start | Control Panel | The Maintenance and the system (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update | Installed updates day & reboot.

3 d - c #1 above.

4 manually run Windows Update and install important updates available (i.e. KB976325).

5 reboot & make sure everything in #1 above is on again and, if necessary, disable the Windows Firewall and enable (or reinstalling) your third-party firewall.

  • Set to update to Windows 10 and now Acrobat looks terrible

B4 I start, the forum said: 'Acrobat Installation & update questions' but once I click on it it says, it is only for "installation and update of the issues". My question is not on the installation/update, but it is a problem of installation of a sort. In addition to the fact that no other forum here is so I have no choice but to ask my question here. I hope I'm not mistaken.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and PDFs look awful - this is the case for my Adobe Acrobat CS 6 Pro and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Please note that I have no other problem of reading software on another text (or images) and that the same pdf reads fine in my browser. can anyone help? (well this forum reads gray rather than black, but maybe it's a setting I have somewhere I would guess, if it is please let me know this as well.)

    Thank you

    Hello

I had a similar problem where the fonts showed very pixelated, after that I have upgraded to Windows 10.  For some reason any text 'smooth' set default to 'None' (Preferences > Page Display > rendering > smooth text)-I've now changed this setting to "Monitor" and it seems to have solved this problem...

You're not sure if it's the same problem that you have experienced, but may be useful to check your Page display preferences?

    Hello

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If that does not read this information

the link below is how to download and get a vista disk startup repair, which you can start from the

  • B1160W wireless wasn't working and now unable to connect - I tried the re-execution, WPS pairing Setup and not work now

This work on my PC then tried to add wireless to PC from my wife and now it does not work on either.     Wireless Setup I tried tried uninstall/reinstall using the installer from the installation CD, 2) and 3) have also tried pairing WPS.    Printer sees the network but seems to forget the network password.    I'm sure that the password is correct and then reconnected iphone, PC, etc. just to be 100% sure.    I can print the network config and also use the printer via a USB cable, but no wire is very frustrating.    I installed the latest firmware and my PC is Windows 7.     I am 30 years old PC experience and have built machines and made all kinds of software installations.     Is there a reset machine that can be done?    Otherwise, I am convinced that it is a kind of corruption in wireless function.    My warranty through 02/23/15

I finally got working again. I connected the USB cable from the printer to the computer. I went to my directory of installed programs and selected Dell and there is an application called 'maintenance', which allowed me to "repair/reinstall" the driver who was initially working OK (then stopped working). Then in the Dell same folder was an application called "Wireless Setup program.

I followed the directions, with cable is still connected and manually entered my "wifi password', in the dialog box. I got the message "installation failed, try again? I chose 'Yes', this time I got the message "success of wireless configuration".

Then I unplugged the USB cable from the printer, and now it works wireless again. He did change the "name" of the printer from "DELL * ' followed by a group of numbers. The new name of the printer has changed to "1160w Dell monochrome laser printer", which is the best description of the printer anyway, so I don't mind the change.

The original name of the printer was 'assigned' initial installation when I used the 'wifi' on the printer and the router button. But as these buttons no longer worked to solve the problem, the manual installation using the cable has solved my problem.

I did not bother to try to download the latest drivers from their web site, to see if that was the problem, because when I tried to use the driver that I already "knew" worked with my current setup of troubleshooting. I can update my driver someday, when I am willing that my printer stops working again. But, for now "if it's not broken, do not fix."   :-)

  • PC has windows 7 preinstalled, upgraded to windows 8 and now want to get windows 7!

    Hello

When I bought the Dell Insipiron, it had Windows 7 pre-installed. Later, at the launch of windows 8, I went to her. However, I have to work with a lot of programs do not run Windows 8, so I´d as to return to the original installation.

How can I do this? I don't have the key number, but I don't have an installation cd.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi melmakiano,

If you have changed the operating system, you will need to use the operating system disc. If you created the recovery disks when you bought the computer (always recommended that you should create them), you use to restore the computer.

Note: This step leads to complete loss of data, including photos, music files, videos, documents, and applications.

  • I lost my internet page/icon explore with the big E on it and now my page is weird with the chrome thing and I do not... I want back the way it was

I'm having problems with pogo then someone told me to download the new version of Mozilla Firefox (I got the old)... big mistake. It made it worse... so I deleted it but then the titles at the top of my page are all wrong. The new pages are all wrong for me. While I went to explore and he said have chrome and I did... and now explore instead of having a big E is not the same thing as chrome and I hate it. I want my old page Explorer returns with all titles across the top and the search bar with all my sites... it's ALL MESSED UP... I don't LIKE THIS NEW PAGE... How do I get it back? All of this new * is bad for my health. Please get back to me.

I can assume only you are referring to online Pogo games by EA Games. I'm not familiar enough with the request to comment one way or the other. I recommend that you ask this question on the Pogo help forum. I don't know that other users can offer you some advice as to what browser, plug-ins and other tweaks that you will benefit the most.

  • After trying to network my computers, I am unable to get online with them.

I am running Windows Vista.  I tried in my office network, and 2 separate laptops and do not know what I did wrong.  I can access Internet from my office, but can no longer access the Internet wirelessly from a laptop.  Is it possible to remove the wireless networks currently install and start over?  I have a Linksys router.  Everything worked fine until I tried to network, now, just trying to get back where it was originally so I can connect by wireless.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    original title: wireless connection problem

You may need to check the settings of the router. Sometimes the wireless router is setup by default to block physically connected devices who are wireless. You can add manually wireless networks if go to control panel-> Network Center control and sharing Center-> manage wireless networks to remove manually and add the network back. But you can generally if you analyze wireless networks it automatically detect security settings and you just have to type the password again.
