  I am running:

  TMS 13.2

  TMSPE 1.0

  The two co reside on a Windows 2003 server, pointint in an external box of SQL.

  We also organize TCX 2.3 on our Exchange.

  Now that our server guys have * finally * installed the service pack required on the Exchange, we are ready to migrate to TMSXE but also to upgrade the TMS and TMSPE.

  So we want ot go to:

  TMS 14.2.1

  TMSPE 1.1

  TMSXE 3.1

  In addition to migrate a Windows server 2008R2 TMS + TMSPE.

  I know the different individual guides to upgrade as well as the dependencies between TMS and TMSPE/TMSXE versions.  I'm hoping to do the upgrade and migration all in one and am hoping to get some tips on the best order to do everything.

  My first question - decomission the 13.2/TMSPE server 1.1 TMS, that I can install TMS 14.2.1 and TMSPE 1.1 on the Windows Server 2008, they point to the relevant databases and allow upgrading from there? Or do I need install the new versions TMS/TMSPE on the old server, first of all, upgrade the databases and then migrate?

  Second question - before all this, I run the TMSXE migration tool to extract the data 2.3 TCX, uninstall TCX of Exchange, TMS upgrades and then install TMSXE 3.0/3.1 at the end?

  As all this is running on the virtual machine I'll instant just in case.  Advice on the issues listed above, or general advice about these upgrades would be appreciated

  Hi Nick, IMHO, I suggest you first migrate your 2.3 TCX to TMSXE 3.0.2 by this TMSXE 3.0 installation guide, and then pass the TMS and PE later.

  Yes, VM snapshot backup option before any upgrade is fine.

  Currently, we use Hyperion Essbase Server V11.1.1.3 in Windows Server 2003 R2.

  We are in a plan to upgrade and migrate to Essbase V11.1.2.2 server in Windows Server 2008.

  We use only Essbase w/o Shared services.

  Could you please provide me with the following information:

  (1) the question of whether LCM Utility can be used to perform this upgrade and Migration of V11.1.1.3 to V11.1.2.2 (do not use Shared Services)?

  (2) any of the documents w.r.t. this upgrade and Migration using the LCM?

• Upgrade and migrate to the new CARS without DBUA

  I was passing through many different papers, reference materials, updating guides and similar. A common theme I see is that they usually keep saying that CCR DBUA is STRONGLY recommended for environments and a must (or almost) during the upgrade in a CCR environment. Since I am also migrate to a new server I can't use DBUA.
  
  I've never done an upgrade or migration in a CCR environment, so what I need is a little guidance.
  
  So I have a 10.2.0.4 database in a RAC environment and we are moving it to a 11.2.0.3 RAC environment. A method I'm considering is to activate the 11.2.0.3 CARS system to access the 10.2.0.4 file system and perform the upgrade using the command line Interface. So my question is can I put starting to upgrade the database under the 1 single node or several nodes? I have yet to find the right document, I'm sure I'll find it eventually, but advice would be greatly appreciated.

  I made a few updates to RAC and prefer not to use DBUA. Especially because the upgrade without that it is not very difficult and the resolution of problems with manual updates is a lot easier to find out why DBUA complains...

  To your question:

  When you run 'start upgrade' make you on a single node. The upgrade process upgrades the database, which is shared between all nodes.

  Remember that before you 'start upgrade', you define CLUSTER_DATABASE = FALSE in your SPFILE, stop all nodes, then just run one to perform the upgrade. Search Support Oracle for more detailed instructions.

  Hi people,

  I've got 2 ESX host: Alpha and beta. Two of them are connected to a cabin of iSCSI with some created shared storage drive (all VMFS3 v3.31). And both had ESX 3.5.0 update0

  I migrated all the VMS running in the Alpha host for shared storage and made host Beta to run (clones cold or simply reassign files). Then I bâtait Alpha from scratch and I installed vSphere 4.0 in it. I also created in its local storage space bit a new virtual machine with vCenter4 inside. It has worked well.

  Then I had to migrate Beta and its virtual machines, too. I first tried to manage the host with vCenter4, but it is not backward compatible.

  So I'll use the host update utility to upgrade beta I saw in a video tutorial, but my doubts are...

  • Option 1:

  Disable all virtual machines managed in host Beta.

  Configure the iSCSI client in Alpha, add storage shared cabin and try to manage the virtual machines already extinct. This reduces the time to downgrade.

  Upgrade Vmware Tools in the virtual machines (v4 to v7 type VM). Required reboots.

  Upgrade host Beta (with no SMV in there and unplug the cable of iSCSI) vSphere4.

  Connect and configure the iSCSI version beta customer.

  Manage the host with the new vCenter4 Beta.

  Configure the vMotion, DRS etc. in both hosts.

  • Option 2:

  Disable all virtual machines managed in host Beta.

  Upgrade host Beta (with no SMV in there and unplug the cable of iSCSI) vSphere4. Downgrade time increases.

  Yes. VM with v4 works very well.

  The only problem is that you lose some new features, like the new drivers and FT.

  Note also that Standalone VMware Converter 4.x can also convert between v4 and v7 and vice versa.

  I have a windows 7 with three Virtual Machines to test an Access application using different versions of Microsoft Office. I have been offered to upgrade, but want to know if my VMs will migrate along. I don't mind if they are Hyper-V, just that I do not lose the machines.

• 12 c DB Upgrade and migration of the ASM

  Need some advice here,

  We currently have a database with 11.2.0.3 running standalone on FS & owned by the user of the OS "XYZ". Accordingly, we have already made as a result of tasks,

  1. already installed Oracle 12 c rack single node. (OS - oracle user)
  2 set up ASM & disks created according to the needs. (OS - oracle user)
  3 installed 12 c (12.1.0.2) RDBMS binaries (OS - oracle user)

  Now, we wanted to do next,

  1 upgrade of database existing at 12 c
  2 migrate filesystem to ASM

  To do this, we already referred a few documents and use the DBUA inplace upgrade. However, my question is, since the database existing is the property of "xyz" OS user & now we want to change the property of the user 'oracle' OS, there will be no problem around upgrading? We need to take care of things when doing this?

  What questions are: group owner and permissions on the database files, controlfiles and redo logs.

  (I guess that all other folders - for example the archivelogs if on file systems - are created under the new 'oracle' user)

  You can use chown to change the owner: group files (database, controlfile, redolog) until you start DBUA.

  Hello Experts,

  I have a task to migrate RAC with physical standby on Windows 2008 for Oracle Linux with minimal downtime. The current version is 11.2.0.2 and target version can be 11.2.0.4 or 12cr1.

  I found a possible solution which follows measures

  1 upgrade 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.4 to transitional assistance upgrade spread through standby logical. (Primary Windows with linux standby is only permitted in a 11.2.0.3 or more)

  2. organize linux 11.2.0.4 windows RAC 11.2.0.4 eve

  3 passage mode for linux (and it becomes new primary)

  4. create the new linux eve of primary news

  and finally, I have linux 11.2.0.4 primary with linux before.

  It sounds very complicated for beginners like me.

  What I ask is "are there simple solutions with without interruption or affordable unavailability of less than 10 min? The database size is ~1.7TB, and of course, it can never be 'dump' ed or copied on net 10 minutes.

  For Flex 4, in addition to developing new "Gumbo" components which have a better architecture skinning and using TLF, Flex team also plans to make it possible to have some TLF features like bidirectional text in some or maybe all of the Flex 3 Halo components. These components are currently using a class of player known as TextField. Develop a class called TLFTextField using TLF to implement the same API as TextField and therefore can replace TextField in Halo components.

  This work is under way but not yet completed. Only a few components currently working with this approach, and it is impossible for the moment to turn on the bidirectionnalite. We also begin to develop a mirroring of the UI feature to allow full user - not only the text - interface to become from right to left.

  So what you need - the ability to write applications in Arabic and Hebrew using only legacy components Halo - is planned for Flex 4.

• Migration from XP to Win 7 - real answer in terms please.

  I'm on XP Pro today (SP3), I read a lot of opinions, but I have no confidence that just bought an upgrade will take me to Winu7 of XP.  I don't mind install my programs and Office 2010.  I do not fear given the wrong information.  Can someone tell me in simple terms?  Thank you.

  Nobody can make sure that what you are trying to do will be successful.  Each computer is unique.  However, you can get an idea about the ability of your computer to run Windows 7 by running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.  Even if the Windows Upgrade Advisor gives you a fair quality, you can't do an upgrade, you must do a clean install of Windows 7, which, as you probably know, will mean you will have to reinstall all your programs and data, for example, nothing will be saved.

  You don't give any information on your current system, unless it is under XP SP3 Pro.  It may be two years or it may be 10 years of age.  He can have 4 GB of RAM, or it can have 512 MB of RAM.   Frankly, if you are running old hardware or inadequate material, I try even trying to switch to Windows 7.

• Import and copy from one catalog to another has some problems-help please

  I have two catologs on two different disks. I imported a number of raw images from one to another using the copy. He did also copy xmp files, but most of the images do not appear to have been developed. I did something wrong? Is this a new stage so these images acknowledge the work accomplished since the xmp file?

  Second, the virtual copies have been copied not more as well. They are in the first catalog, but not when I imported and copied.

  Help please while I can still understand what images I imported because they are in every sense, and maybe I need to recreate my steps.

  You import or catalog? You need to do the latter.

  

  If you are importing a catalog, remove the images that you have brought to and use the above menu option.
