Upgrade for a Netbook XP installation problem

I have a netbook (with no optical drive) on which I want to install Windows XP Home Edition.

The drive I have is an upgrade version.

The problem I have is that for some reason, the Netbook (even if the BIOS allows) will NOT start from an external DVD/CD drive, even when started he sees the drive and you can use it. Other computers boot this drive so I don't know what the problem is.

I can obviously do a flashdrive bootable for installing XP - my concern is to provide the eligible product if the external optical drive is a little dubious - I have a copy of Windows 98 Second edition on a disc, which is a product qualifies for the upgrade.

If the installation process does not see the CD drive when I am asked to insert the product calling it, how can I get around that?

I tried a Windows 7 disc - would not start from that.

I tried to boot from a floppy from Win 98 and formatting the HARD drive - still did not start.

Finally, I started from a flashdrive bootable Ubuntu 10 and used GParted to delete the partition and recreate a partition FAT32 and Hey Presto! The cd of Windows XP started...

In the process of installing XP as I write this.

Thanks for the help!

Need help on how to solve my problem about installing graphics drivers for my laptop. I replaced my HARD drive today since the hardware problems encountered an original and I was not able to recover all the files of it. I have download all the drivers from the HP site and it installed without any problem until I arrive at SP61152 (Intel HD Graphic Driver). When installing this error message has occurred (this computer does not meet the minimum requirements to install this software).  Also, I can't find the AMD Catalyst Control Center that I have used before when tweaking performance for my applications. Hope someone from HP can help solve this problem. Thank you.

  • Creating a program the evolutionary IVI driver installation problems

I have problems when you try to create an upgrade for an IVI driver installation.
I created the installer by using the creative installer included with LabWindows/CVI 2010 IVI. In my case, I have two versions of the IVI driver DLL and configuration (1.0 and 1.1).
1.1 - the installation program was created using the option "install existing rebuild" of the creator of the installer.

    My problem is the following:

    • If the driver of the IVI is not installed the 1.1 - installation is completed without error.
    • However, if the 1.0 driver is present, the 1.1 installer gives me the error message following just at the beginning of the installation:
"Setup has detected a third party IVI driver in the directory C:\Program Files (x 86) \IVI Foundation\IVI\Bin. Please uninstall the existing driver before proceeding with this installation. »

I noticed the things so far:

    • The UpgradeCode MSI remains the same for both configurations (as expected). This seems to indicate that the installation program supports upgrades.
    • The installer contains a DLL (NiIviDriverDetection.dll) used in a CustomAction to the 3rd party.
What this DLL seems to do, is to perform a control version of the currently installed driver IVI DLL (1.0 in my case).
According to the results of this audit, the installation process is abandoned.

If everyone has noticed this behavior or anyone has any suggestions on how to create an IVI driver installer which can be upgraded without uninstalling the old version first?
Maybe I put just an evil version information field, but I do not know that which (if any)...

    Advice would be greatly appreciated!

I seem to have found a solution:

The problem is that the MSI CustomAction, seeking a third drivers IVI (DetectAction.C1C4DD2F_AD86_44E6_BA47_FC41E5C0DAAF) is performed before the FindRelatedProducts Action.

So the DetectAction is not ignored if an older version of the IVI driver is located (looking at the MSI tables clearly was NEITHER).

Move the sequence numbers of the 103 to 107 behind the FindRelatedProducts Action InstallExecuteSequence shares both InstallUISequence tables (for example starting at 370) will make it possible to do an upgrade of an IVI driver installation.

This can be accomplished using the Orca tool included in the Windows SDK.

  • WinXP for Win8 upgrade installation problem

I tried to install Windows8 as Windows XP upgrade. Wizard upgrade, said the Dell Optiplex machine could handle the upgrade.

However, the installation seems to be stuck in a reboot loop, showing a choice of Win8 or WinSetup, with a message saying "Windows 8 will run automatically after 30 seconds." After the countdown, it "recharge" same screen.

I was alerted to wait several reboots and extend the time. This loop is over 3 hours now, however.

Should I assume that the installation is stuck and will not work. I don't even get how out of the loop.

    Suggestions, please!

On a work computer, download Windows 8 32-bit:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-Microsoft-Windows-and-Office/Download-Microsoft-Windows/download-Windows-8-1-ISO/

Boot from the DVD Windows 8

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 8 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Options to upgrade to internal hard drive on laptop computer dv2000t (installation problems)

I need to replace a failed hard drive in my laptop dv2000t of 2006.  The drive I'm replacing was already a replacement car from the original 80 GB drive came with the laptop.  The first replacement 3 years ago (2008) was a 200 GB drive, which worked well for about 3 years.  But he just crashed (apparently).  I received warnings of imminent failure in 'Smart' car a week before, and then it finally is more start.  Subsequent tests on the extract disk show it as having failed in many sectors.

I had no problem to order a spare for the first time in 2008, restore a backup image to original disk Acronis, installation, etc.  Everything went well in 2008.   So I assumed that all would be gone smoothly for yet another replacement and upgrade.

In 2008, the drive I ordered was a W.D. (Western Digital, stick with the same brand as the original) disk SATA 2.5 inch 5400 RPM (200 GB).  It's a SATA (I) (1.5 Gbit/s interface).

The first disc I ordered recently (March 2011) was a W.D 2.5 inch SATA II (3.0 Gbps interface) 500 GB 7200 RPM (from 'Black Scorpion' line of W.D.).   Got the disc image disc to it and she came to the laptop.  Unfortunately, at the start and after the screen BIOS, all I get is a black screen with a white cursor blinking fast at the top of the screen.  Apparently by car is not recognized by the computer?  Then I did some reading in some online forums and found some references on this laptop is made not with the capacity of disks more or 320 GB with 7200 RPM drives (because they're hotter than 5400 drives).  And finally, references to the SATA interface speed.  I ordered a 2nd drive, W.D "Scorpio Blue" line, this time above a 5400 RPM 320 GB drive (but still SATA II).  Same story, still does not work.  So I decided that maybe the question was the SATA speed.  So I found someone who still had a SATA plus old (1.5 Gbps) W.D. drive in stock.  It's a W.D. SATA 250 GB (no longer manufactured).  It should arrive in a few days - and I hope this one works!

I would like to get some sort of confirmation on the white flashing cursor on the black screen at startup.  Is this typicalif the system could not find a bootable hard drive?  Also, is this SATA or SATA-II issue a probable cause of my problem?   I'm sure that there is nothing wrong with the new drives themselves and images restored on them, as readers will be installed them and available when I plug them in as external drives on my other computer.

I was able to solve my hard drive installation problems.  It turns out that there is no problem with any of these new replacement discs, I ordered (thinking I had ordered some readers with the wrong specs).  It was a simple solution to the problem.  Restored readers were not start because there is no MBR (Master Boot Record) on the disks after restoring from disk images.

I use Acronis True Image Home 2011 as my (backup) disk imaging software.  And I just did not understand how to restore properly backed up images on a new hard drive.  I had done everything right except that I had not checked the box to 'restore the MBR' - both do not understand what it was or what it means.  Once I checked this box and reimagee the new drive, it worked fine.

    Hello

I recently bought a HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p107nz and decided to do an SSD upgrade. Also bought the BX100 Crucial 250 GB, but the computer does not recognize it. When this window where I can manage partitions and choose the convening HDD/SSD (so that the formatting), the right SSD does not appear. When I connect the old HDD in return, it seems everything as usual!

What is going on? There is still no new version available BIOS.

Could you please help? I'm so frustrated, lost 2 whole days, try something, but without success.

    Best regards

PS: Apolagize for any error in English.

I actually have enough. I see no solution in short time, once I've tried everything, and the worst thing is, after all, what I tried and time losted in the present, to see that another brand of SSD works fine without problems.  Last night, tried my Crucial SSD in my HP Envy 23-n200np Beats all-in-One special edition, which still had a HARD drive, and everything worked well also.  Decided to do the upgrade for the Crucial SSD, and just ordered another Samsung SSD 850 Evo for my HP laptop. I want to thank very you much, really. Even without visible results (because it's a particular problem) you helped a lot, and I learned new things. Thank you very much a companion. God bless you!

I'm sorry, but you need to contact the manufacturer of Netbook on this subject.

There are too fishy advice on the Net start from USB to recommend a method

They will have the Options of reinstalling Vista available for their Netbook, because they produce a lot of them.

Take the Option to plant, where to do otherwise may affect your warranty.

This laptop was purchased with a Windows 7 OS pre-installed.  A year ago, I took advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10.  No problem and so far so good.

Today, I decided to upgrade my factory HDD to SSD performance.   I clone the drive HARD integer using Macrium Reflect and he went ase expected.

After passing on hard drives and cranking up the SSD, I am taken to the Windows Boot Manager screen.  It recognizes that I have a hardware change (HDD-> SDS) and he suggested that I demarrer start with Instalation of Windows disk, select language and next, before choosing the repair option.  How can I solve this problem I never got a Windows Setup disc (without CD player on this model)?

In the Windows Boot Manager, there is a following screen to select an operating system.  Although I can see the Windows 10 option, after you have selected the option I need just to return to the Windows Boot Manager screen.

You can provide any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

    You are the very welcome.

Unfortunately, I do not know what W10 gives you the repair options.

If there is a command line option, you can try running the repair options listed in the link below.

They are for W7, but maybe W10 uses the same commands.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/927392

I would not invest too much time in the repair installation, because you will probably be able to clean install W10 and install all your programs and files in less time it will take to understand the problem (if you can).
