Upgrade memory from 256 to 512 MB on Satellite Pro A60

Just want to confirm really what I got caught once before buying the bad memory. I read another thread, so am sure I'm ok with that.

OK, the RAM, I need for the upgrade of the Satellite A60 Pro is:
200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC2700 Unbuffered CL2.5 (Non - ECC)

Maplin:
http://www.Maplin.co.UK/search.aspx?criteria=A31CG&doy=24m12
A31CG DDR 2700 512M SODIMM

Crutial

512MB 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC2700 upgrade for the Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 Series notebook

I don't think that 1GIG RAM is needed for my daughter :-)

Note: On my main PC, I got defective Crutial Ballistix memory, but Crutial were very good replacing it for free.

Thank you and a Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all of you on this forum.

Ah, just another thing I'm not clear on.

The NEW RAM replaces the existing, in other words I have remove the 256 and replace it with the 512? Reading the user manual, it is not clear and talks about expansion module. Probably, it would be obvious if I opened it to the top, but I'd rather not at this stage.

Thank you

  • Memory should what upgrade I buy for my Satellite Pro A60?

Hi, I have a Satellite Pro A60 PSA65E, who currently has 192 MB of RAM and 2.8 GHz Celeron processor.

My problem came when I tried to install Adobe Creative Suite 2 on it, but it would not allow me to do so because he needed 384 MB of RAM to run it. I was wondering if someone could tell me what RAM upgrade is compatible with my machine and if it inserted in another port or if I have to get out the old and replace?

    Thank you

    Hello

your laptop is 256 MB internal memory, I'm not sure why it shows only 192 MB. This internal memory can be replaced only by a technician. But you also have a currently unused memory slot, in which you can place a maximum of 1024 MB of RAM.

Here are the modules from Toshiba lets you:
    PC2700 256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

    Hello
I bought this laptop on ebay, with no cd or manual.

    Satellite Pro A60 GR
    MODEL PSA65E-01K032GR NUMBER

    Hard drive is formatted.
I tried to install xp, because I start the laptop it just says: "control system.
Then press [F1]. "If I press F1, it tries to read the cd and gives up after a few seconds.

If there is no cd in the cd drive there simply nothing.
I tried to start the bios menu but everything works,(F12,F8,del) key.

Is there something I can do?
installing drivers or anything like that?

    Hello

In order to access the BIOS please press F2, then ESC.
This should load the BIOS and you can change the boot order there.

In addition, you can press F12 at the beginning.
This will allow the menu on the screen where you can choose the STRANGE as a source of start-up.

But are you able to boot from another CD?
The CD/DVD drive is unable to read the disc, and therefore the boot process fails

You could also burn this disc Win XP on another CD and could use the new disk to the start I did with my old laptop because the CD/DVD drive didn't read the old CD.

  • Satellite Pro A60: Upgrade CPU Questions

I took my laptop apart before, and I remember that I was able to remove the CPU.
My A60 is the lower part of the range as far as I KNOW, 2.8 ghz Celeron, 40GB HDD and DVD-ROM/CD-RW. I've since added 512 MB of RAM and a LiteOn DVD +-RW drive.
What type of CPU would be a direct exchange?
I was looking at my manual, A60 were sold with P4 3.06 GHz.

I would be able to put in a 533FSB, 3.06 GHz in my laptop?

    Thank you

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite Pro A60 was delivered with these processors:
    Mobile-Intel-Pentium 4 processor - HT 518 (2.8 G), 532 (3.06 G) CPU, CPU 538 (3.2 G)
    Intel-Celeron CPU CPU CPU CPU 350 (3.2 G) 345(3.066G) 340(2.93G) 335(2.8G)

So in this case, I think that you can only use these processors

  • Upgrade memory on Satellite Pro A60

I upgraded a Pro A60 with a memory of 1 GB upwards but the general tab panel /System/ watch still have 192 MB of RAM. This limits me downloading some software of safety of BT Yahoo.

Someone can advise on how I can make the machine to recognize the new RAM or is the 192 MB RAM memory different the new upgrade memory note?

If you use the incompatible RAM module, it is logical that system cannot recognize it properly. I don't know who is the manufacturer of this RAM 1 GB module, but if you want to use a consistent pick up some info on 1024Mo PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G) or check web page of Kingston.

  • Need help with memory of Satellite Pro A60

    Hello!
I bougth an A60 sitting Pro and in the manual it says that normally have "256 or 512 MB on the motherboard and PC2100 256, 512 or 1024 MB modules can be installed in the memory slot expansion" but mine has only 192 MB of RAM, as I saw it on the properties of the system, and whenever I look to upgrade memory in different websites it gives me the opportunity of PC2700 for A60 series.
Personally, I have no idea of what is a pc2100 and if it has no difference with pc2700 but I don't want to buy the wrong.
Another question: if I install 256 MB it means I'll have 256 or 256 + 192 (which is what I have now)?
    Thank you!!!

    Hi Catherine,

Your A60 features a 256 MB RAM module in slot 1. The reason why your properties appear 192 MB is that 64 MB is reserved for your graphics card in the BIOS. This has the effect of reducing your available RAM 192 MB.

You can indeed adapt extra RAM if you wish, but be sure to get the RAM memory modules that are compatible with your A60.

Your memory after the upgrade will be slot 192Mo 1 so that no matter what size of RAM module you fit in slot 2.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - I want to upgrade the RAM

I bought a second hand Pro A60 and would like to increase its memory. I never have, so I need a little guidance. First of all, the system tells me that I have 2 x 250 MB of RAM. I understand that these are not removable, but I could add a 1 GB extra to give me the max of 1.5 GB.

I think that the locations of memory are in B4, but when I open it I do not see an obvious empty slot. I guess what I see are among the 250 MB, but nothing else.

Offers of additional State of RAM installation is simple, but a free slot is not obvious.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

On this laptop, just a slot is placed at the bottom. Turn off and let us know what capacity has this RAM module. You can buy new with more capacity and put it in this slot.
A RAM is probably under the keyboard. Remove the RAM from the bottom and start your laptop. check the amount of RAM is recognized.

If mobile shows 256 MB then you can add a RAM in low 1024 MB PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G) and you will have approximately 1280MB what is the max RAM this laptop to handle with.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - memory problem?

I have a machine at 3 years which became progressively slower, especially at the start. I installed original specification and use the installed MS Firewall and Antivirus it.

Opportunities, with more than 1 window/application open, the screen freezes during use. On other occasions, I get an error message (something like) "Out of Memory Line 56", press OK and then displays the information.

I wonder if an upgrade memory will solve these problems? Thank you

Hmmm, you can simply test the memory using the freeware as Memtest86 +.

    > was wondering if an upgrade memory will solve these problems?

Upgrade memory always improves the performance of laptops.
But the question is whether this problem is related to the fault memory or to of memory performance.
For me, it looks like a malfunction of memory.

Try to remove a module, and check if the same error message using that one module of memory.

  • Can I upgrade or change the graphics card on my Satellite Pro A10

Currently its at 64 MB and has an Intel graphics card

Any help and advice would be grateful.

    Hello

Unfortunately, upgrading the graphics card is not possible.
The GPU chip is fixed simply (I think that it welded s) on the motherboard and cannot be deleted.

  • HP g72 i3 m350: upgrade memory from 4 GB to 8 GB

I received two chips memoy 4 GB and they would not work.  Verifed that they were seen by the system, but the system would not start.   Removed and tried a single, same problem.  Replace both 2 gb and it worked.   It seems unlikely that both are bad.

This device should recognize and work with 8 GB or 4 gb chip, as it of a 64-bit using intel i3 and works win10 and do quite well with 4 GB but took the opportunity to upgrade and did not expect this problem.     Replacement chips come from a list, including the
G72 and ar 4 GB ddr3 pc3-10600 sodimm / 1333 mhz which corresponds to the use of 2 GB.

The point on this issue.   It is not resolved, but I decided to try the memory in another HP using an AMD processor that was older and a bit slower but it agreed to the memory and is very good in this unit of work.   It is interesting that the unit is NOT listed as being able to accept additional memory.

The issue is clearly with this single unit, and it seems others have had a similar event.   While it is apparently isolated to this version of the G72.

  • Upgrade memory from 2 GB to 4 GB on Satellite U300-153

    Satellite U300-153 (PSU30E - 09901CG 3) has maximum of expansion RAM 2 GB only.
This model has 2 slots for memory and each unit of memory 2 GB of suppor slot.
If I install a 2 GB unit in a slot - everything is OK.
2 Gb + 1 Gb or 2 Gb + 2 Gb: BIOS detect memory correctly but the crash of Windows Vista for
blue screen after 2-3 seconds after loading.

I know about 2 GB limit but can I change something (BIOS upgrade or LIKED) to change this limit?

Why BIOS can detect 4 GB but charge Vista RCA with it? Deadline is - what chipset?

Can I fix it and what I should do?

    Hello

As you say the laptop U300-153 can scale up to 2 GB max.
I really surprised that the BIOS has detected that more than 2 GB and that the laptop was able to boot in windows. Usually the laptop should not start and begin with more than 2 GB of memory

    > Why BIOS can detect 4 GB but load Vista RCA with it? Deadline is - what chipset?
    > Can I fix it and what I should do?

Usually it s a physical limitation (motherboard). and you will not be able to upgrade the memory to a higher value is not possible!

  • EliteBook 8540p: upgrade memory from 4 GB to 8 GB

    Hello.

For the moment, I use memory 2 x 2 GB strips with my elite book but want to switch to 2 x 4 GB.

I know that my laptop is supported (only) PC3-10600 / memory at 1333 MHz, but I wonder if I still can't use more quick PC3-12800 / 1600 modules MHz but only gain rate supported, or is it takes exactly PC3-10600 / 1333 MHz modules?

I can change some values in the BIOS if it recognizes the fastest memory modules but works at the speed of support or should I rather get the 'right' modules and forget them faster?

    Hello

I would get a few modules of 1333 MHz (recommend Corsair). We cannot change everything related to memory in the BIOS.
