Upgrade memory SL500 with latency case of G.Skill DDR2 667 (PC2-5300) 4. Comnpatible?

Hello

I want to upgrade memory to my Thinkpad SL500 model 2746CTO.

You want to buy some sticks of 2 X 2 GB @ only $22.00 each.

G.Skill is faster @ CL 4 (hours: 4-4-4-12)

voltage @ 1.8V

non - ecc, unbuffered.

Please comment if this G.Skill memory is too fast for this laptop, for example. "not compatible".

Thank you

Jim

rather than ask for lenovo or crucial, why not ask of intel chips that manufacturers the inputs/outputs of the memory controller.

http://www.Intel.com/design/chipsets/embedded/prodbrf/319505.PDF

It clearly says DDR2 667/800.  Don't be confused that she also mentioned ddr3 support, lenovo only installed on your motherboard ddr2 Sockets, but the GM45 chip can support both.

I propose to upgrade all R710 with (A5008568) - 16GB 2Rx4 RDIMMS ECC 1333 MHz LV... Certainly, I hope that it will work well with my server with processors E5520 and would also work with existing (G484D) - MEMORY MODULE... 4G, 1066, 2RX4X72

It should work with the 4 GB DIMMs in 7/8. I edited a couple of my posts to clarify certain limits with the rank of quad DIMMS and the CPU 1.35v. I added two notes stating that grade quad DIMMS will operate at 800 MHz when filled 2 per channel, and 1066 MHz speed limitation for the CPU 1.35v to apply the dual rank DIMMS or higher when filled with a minimum of 2 per channel. As part of our conversation I do not think that it you confused, but I wanted to clarify information for future readers.

Let us know if there are problems with the upgrade.

I have upgraded to 4 GB as from Toshiba Web site says it supports 4GB. In the bios, I only see 3070 MB and Windows 7 64 - bit says (3.00 GB RAM) 4.00 GB RAM usable.

    Why?
In Task manager is also said 3070MB of memory total.

    Hello

4 GB of RAM should be possible.
The laptop seems to support the Mobile Intel® 945 PM Express Chipset and according to the Intel Ark page, 4 GB of RAM are supported by 945 PM
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/chipsets/22817

I recommend to check the advanced startup options:
    1. Click Start, in the search bar type msconfig and press to enter.
    2. System Configuration window appears on the screen.
    3. click on the tab named "boot".
    4. click on "Advanced Options" and uncheck the box 'memory Maximum.
    5. now restart again and check the available memory.

  • Upgrade memory of 512 to 2G on a T43 gave rise to a white screen with the power upward

I type Thinkpad T43 2687 and I added 1 GB DDR2 RAM PC2-5300 for the slot originally neath expansion slot and then I added the Mithraeum card to replace the size 512 under the keyboard.  Power to the top of the battery and AC lights came, but the screen remains blank. Then I replaced the card of underkeyboard with the original 512 memory card and nothing changed, finally I removed the second 1 GB card so I was back to the original configuration and all is back to where I started.  Everything works but no upgrade memory.

No idea why the system does not recognize the additional memory or worse, why he stopped the whole of the system?

Also any ideas how memory works on the upgrade I used kingston in my approach?

  • upgrade memory dv6t-7000

I have a laptop dv6t-7000. He moved with memory of 8 GB (2x4gb) 1600 (PC3-12800). CPU - Z shows the calendar as the 11-11-11-28 (and 1.5V). I want to replace the 8 GB (2x4gb) with 16 GB (2x8Gb) 1600 (PC3-12800). I can get 16 GB of memory 1600 (PC3-12800) (with the same 1, 5V voltage) to a few different timings. I could get the same schedule (11-11-11-28), two different choices with latency case 10 (10-10-10-28 or 10-10-10-27), saying or what latency case 9.

I think that the choice with the lowest latency case could be slightly faster if they run with this calendar. However, I don't see anywhere in the BIOS or somewhere else where I can change all the settings of the memory, so I'm afraid that if I get one of the "fastest" just choice will work to the same schedule as existing memory. So it would be wise to stay just with (2x8Gb) 1600 with timing 11-11-11-28.

Has anyone replaced their memory with RAM with faster (that which came installed by HP) timings?  He run to the programming of schedules faster or to the timings of the same as the original of the RAM?  Any other advice?  Thank you.

I went ahead and got the memory with faster timings. I have nothing except take the old memory 2 x 4 GB and put it in the new 2x8Gb memory (e.g., no change in the BIOS or elsewhere). The original brief was on 11-11-11-28. The new memory reports 9-9-9-27, so he did spend at these times on its own. And benchmarks reported an increase in speed.

This of course is not anything most people (including me) will be probably already noticed. But if you do anything that uses all the memory for hours at a time (for example, the mathematical models), I think that small time savings can add up over many hours of constant of memory intensive tasks. So, while I usually use my desktop for these tasks, when I need to do away from home (or when my offices already chewing on a different problem), I am satisfied with the improvement.

  • Upgrading memory on the PXI-8105 controllers and PXI-8106

    Hello

I've recently upgraded the memory of three PXIs; one with a PXI-8105 controller and two with the PXI-8106 controllers.  Both the 8105 and 8105 can have a maximum of 4 GB (2x2gb) DDR2-677 (PC2-5300) (see links below).  However, on the three systems, both the BIOS and the o/s only see 3.3 GB.  No idea why this might be the case?

I tried to Flash the BIOS (v1.4 on the two PXIs), but without success.

Try a few other manufacturers of memory and see if you can get the own memory DIMMs.

  • Upgrade memory for Satellite U200: are supported with 667 mhz modules?

I am a new user and I'm on a Toshiba Sat U-200-115. I want to upgrade, and I intend to do an upgrade to 4 GB.

What I want to know, although it said this laptop supports the upgrade to 4 Gig, but this model use a DDR2 533 MHz memory. Considering that since the Web from Toshiba site, I see only 1 slot memory of Gig available with this clock speed and a 2 Gig DDR2 available with clock speed of 667 MHz. What I want to know, if I want to upgrade to 4 GB memory with clock speed more high clock (667 instead of, 533) would work on this machine?

    Thank you.

    Hello

It depends on the chipset of your Satellite U200-115.

If chipset supports 4 GB of memory and BIOS and Vista supports 4 GB of memory too, then you can go use the full 4 GB of RAM.
If the FSB takes care also of 667 Mhz then modules of memory would also go wit full 667 Mhz speed.
If the chipset supports only 533 Mhz then the chipset would slow the 667 Mhz module and memory would go only to 533 Mhz.

So what you have to do is check what chipset is equipped in the U200-115.
Full details and specifications of chipset you can find on the page of Intel.

But generally, there is no big difference between the modules of 533 Mhz and 667 Mhz modules 667 Mhz turns a little faster but you won't see everything boosts performance

    Hello!

    After 3 years, I decided to upgrade my [Qosmio F50 | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&PRODUCT_ID=1 055727 & DISC_MODEL = 1] new SSD and additional memory.

With a drive, I'm pretty well agreed the [Intel 320 120 GB SSD | http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/solid-state-drives/solid-state-drives-320-series.html], unless you recommend something different maybe?

But I have the problem before deciding what size memory to take. Now, I 3 072 (2 048 + 1 024) MB DDR2 (800 MHz), and CPU - z says it runs in mode dual channel with timings 6-6-6-18(on memory stick it says 6-6-6-12?). I watched [Patriot DDR2 SO-DIMM 4 GB 800 MHz | 787 http://patriotmemory.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=3&catid=33&prodgroupid=59&id= & type = 5], and he said just in time of latency case 6. I have not found on the internet what timings there so I have a question:

If I buy 1 (one) memory stick (Patriot) and replace it with 1 GB stick in laptop, old 2 GB + 4 GB new work in dual channel, or do I have to buy 2 x 4 GB (Patriot)?

If this does not work, you rather 6 GB with channel single or dual channel 4 GB.

    Thanks for all the answers!

    > I pretty much agreed with drive, Intel 320 120 GB SSD, unless you recommend something different maybe?

I think it shouldn't be a big problem with the compatibility because the HARD disk controller supports the SATA interface and the SATA SSD drive should also be compatible.

    > If I buy 1 (one) memory stick (Patriot) and replace it with 1 GB stick in laptop, old 2 GB + 4 GB new work in dual channel, or do I have to buy 2 x 4 GB (Patriot)?

Dual Channel does not require two execatly the same memory modules.

So, theoretically, you can use a module of RAM 2 GB and 4 GB RAM module.
I advise to use 4 GB of RAM in A slot and 2 GB of RAM in slot B

But the two modules must supports the same speed (800 Mhz), otherwise the module more quickly would be pointing down.
