Upgrade memory / warranty

Hi all

Just a quick one I hope; Upgrading the memory in my notebook will void my warranty?

Thanks for your time.

PP

As a general rule, no. There are a few models like the Business nc6400 series with two slots; who is consumer-accessible and which is not. If you try to open the slot 'hidden' (usually under the keyboard), it could void the warranty. Most models have two locations for available memory under the laptop through a door and adding memory it will not affect the warranty. In your own interest, be sure and use only good memory from crucial, kingston or a provider major product purchased at retail.

  • Upgrade memory (4157) ThinkStation S20

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade memory on my S20. I found this document of 2009 (http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/rep_ca/4/872/ENUSAG09-0134/ENUSAG09-0134.PDF) saying that S20 supports up to 48 GB. I bought 6 * 8GB ECC UDIMM and they work very well, but 48GB wasn't enough to maintain my heavy simulation data. S20 does support 96GB? According to the program dmidecode (Linux utility), my computer supports up to 192 GB, but max memory also depends on the motherboard, BIOS, etc. The official max memory may still be 48 GB, but in terms of architecture, he would support 96 GB or more?

Single 16 GB ECC UDIMM seems very rare, but I found this (http://www.memoryamerica.com/00d4964-00d4966.html) product at a reasonable price. 6 of these modules of memory would work with S20? Or maybe, it is still a good time to invest nearly $600 on DDR3 memory for a machine at age 7?

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum

Looking at the number of IBM FRU in this list, the memory that you have accessed is a RDIMMS, not an ECC UDIMM. RDIMMs do not work in the S20. Unfortunately, you are limited to 6 x 8 GB UDIMM depending on availability of the size. Even if the series E5-1600 processors support more than 300 GB, I'm not aware of a real 16 GB DDR3 ECC UDIMM in the wild.

Given the cost, I recommend personally put that money toward a new system or even a refurb of the Lenovo decision-making. http://outlet.lenovo.com/outlet_us/workstations/#facet-1=1, 2,3,4. Major drawbacks only in a system is that you are limited to what is available and they come with a 1 year warranty. Retail systems have a term of 3 years and can be extended to 4 or 5.

Assuming that you land in a P500/700/900 or later version, you can find 6 or 8 x 16 GB DDR4 memory for about $350 ~ 600 depending on where you look. The smallest series P (P310/320/410) have 4 total DIMM connectors and limit your options.

  • Upgrade memory for T61

    Hi friends,
I have a system of 7663-xxx T61, with 1 GB PC2-5300 667 MHz RAM. My Front Side Bus 800 MHz (I think!), software Everest says my memory controller is capable, dual channel and ~ 85% physical RAM use. I have a nVidia Quadro NVS 140 M 128 MB graphics card, but Everest reports 512 MB?

I want to update my RAM and buy some online.
one) should I buy a similar 2 GB RAM PC2 - 5300 for my system performance, running Windows XP 32-bit? If so, should I buy Lenovo RAM only, for the maintenance of my 3 years warranty intact?

Will assume the ROM ThinkPad and Lenovo ThinkPad and Lenovo warranty portable systems limited

    (c) wouldn't it be better if I'm able to buy RAM that can match my FSB? This will have a performance advantage? Do these similar exist FSB RAM speed?
Please suggest manufacturers of memory superior, as appropriate.
I couldn't find any Lenovo 800 MHz memory on their Web site.

Honestly, you'll be fine with either / or. I've not had a bad experience with Samsung never, if I had to choose I'd give it a very slight preference based on prior use.

I doubt that you (or me) would be able to tell the difference between two identical machines, execution of memory with different CLs...

    I hope this helps.

  • Upgrading memory to HDX16

I have a laptop of HP HDX16 (NK133AV) with 2 GB of memory. I would ask you please how can I upgrade the MEMORY to the maximum (I undertand is 8 GB of memory). I had trouble using the tool of memory in parts. He keeps bringing me to a page with NO information saying that "page does not exist". I bought and upgraded memory on my latest models of laptops and do not understand why this is a difficult subject.

    Please notify:

    (1) where, on HP, I resource appropriate part number

    (2) do I have equal GB in two slots for optimal performance?

    (3) how much should I expect to pay for this upgrade?

    (4) can I use my existing 2 GB module and add a 6 GB or what I need to buy 2 NEW modules to 4 GB (which sucks)...

I really don't understand HP sometimes. I am a customer who wishes TO BUY a PART, and yet they make it so difficult to reseach/purchase! Thanks for your help.

Not sure that HP sells even 4 gig modules. If you want to go to 8 GB, you need to buy 2 new 4 gig modules (no such thing as a 6 gig module). You need 5300 DDR2 or DDR2 667 mhz (same thing) or DDR2-6400 modules DDR2 800 mhz (same thing) that are readily available. I recommend crucial.com.The cost will be almost $400US. make absolutely sure that you really need for 8 GB and 4 GB will not do for you. It is not very likely, unless you make a large volume of Photoshop or video editing work. 8 GB is $ 400; 4 gigs would be less than $100. For me, 4 gigs is the sweet spot.

    Crucial page

If HP has sold kits of 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) I guess it would be at least $500 for the same thing you could buy for $400 from crucial.com. Crucial memory will not affect the HP warranty and is guaranteed compatible and is guaranteed for life. Can not go wrong.

  • Upgrade memory on an all in a single LX830

I may upgrade the 4 GB provided to meet the requirements of the program. Additional memory needs to be installed in pairs? The existing 4 GB occupies a dwelling, can I mount 8 GB in another location or it will be incompatible?

Well, mainly upgrade memory depends on the support of the chipset/CPU.

Not quite sure what computer Toshiba LX830 do you have exactly but as far as I know the L830 all in one units would support up to 16 GB of RAM.

A property used by a 4 GB RAM module and housing is free.
This is why it must be able to use another additional module of 8 GB RAM.

But of course, another module of 8 GB RAM should be compatible with the current 4 GB of RAM.
Otherwise, you will get some compatibility issues

  • Upgrade memory on NB300-108

Looking to upgrade the RAM to 2 GB on my NB300-108

Have you looked at the website of Toshiba and the cost, but there seems to be a plethora of alternative sites with upgrades memory compatible when I put in the part number.

    Hello

    The laptop supports DDR2 800 MHz SO-DIMM or PC2-5300 (DDR2 667 Mhz) modules.
These modules are provided by different companies.
There are good quality modules and less quality modules

Of course, you can choose and buy the cheapest, but in this case, you use the risk of compatibility problems.

I made good experiences with RAM from Kingston. These are of good quality and not too expensive modules

  • Upgrading memory on the NB550D - 11 d - 4 GB of RAM are possible

To anyone who thinks of a memory upgrade on the NB550D:

The NB550D supports up to 4 GB of memory, not only 2 GB as mentioned by Toshiba in their specifications.
Upgrade memory to 2 GB is _only limited_ by the pre installed Windows 7 Starter OS, and not by the netbook itself.

I use Linux Mint 11 Katya, 64-bit and my system works perfectly well with a 4 GB ram module. If you want to use the full support for 4 GB ram, get rid of the Win 7 Starter operating system.

Specifications for more memory ram volume are DDR3 1333 MHz PC3-10600 SO-Dimm. I chose a 4 GB of Corsair module, because of the guarantee of 30 years of offers from Corsair.

It took me a while to find this out hope, that this will be a help to all those who are just as secure as I was how to upgrade memory NB550D. Good luck. (o).

    Thanks for the comments

Also it of important to mention than the 32-bit systems (not serious if its Linux or Windows) would recognize only 3.2 GB since it is a limitation of 32-bit
So to use all of the 4 GB RAM 64-bit system is required.

  • Question about upgrading memory Satellite M55-S1001

can you please recommend what to do? I want to make my satellite m55-s1001 run faster please let me know, what do you recommend: 512 MB or 1 GB of memory? I'm not familiar with updates so please help!

    Hello

First of all, if you want to go for fastest laptop, you should start with simple things.
Try to defragment the disk, turn off the background process is not necessary, etc.
Upgrade memory will the powerful laptop and of course a lot more quickly.

To my knowledge the Satellite M55 should support the bars of memory 2 x 1024MB, and I also recommend the use of 1024MB instead of 512 MB module.

Maybe you used the memory modules bad.
As far as I know that you can upgrade memory for max 192 MB
The 64 MB has been installed in an internal memory and cannot be deleted.

It is rather urgent and would like a quick answer.

    Hi mate.

As far as I know your laptop supports two memory locations.
They must be placed at the bottom of the unit.
If you n t know how to change this then I recommend consulted the user manual!
The manual can be downloaded from the Toshiba European page.
I think that the laptop can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. So, you can use 1 GB of RAM in one slot.

PS: you must use the RAM DDR2 PC2-4200 memory - 200pin modules

  • HP ENVY Sleekbook 4-1000en: upgrading memory on ENVY 4-1000en

    Hello

Since I have some basic computer knowledge, but I want to be sure before you go for it, I need your advice.

I have a HP ENVY Sleekbook 4-1000en and I have recently upgraded to HDD and the OS.

I think the upgrade of RAM have, as far as I know that you need 2 memories of the same type, so I guess I can't buy an another 4 GB right?

Do I need 2 x 4 GB of DDR3 memory, of the same type to make it work? For example they would work very well

    http://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance-8gb-high-performance-sodimm-memory-upgrade-kit-cmsx8gx3m2a1600c9 ?

Finally the upgrade memory requires any other configuration after plugin in? Is a format for example?

    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

The following link shows the specifications of your computer:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03362810

It has 4 GB of RAM now. The question is 4 GB in a dwelling or in the two slots (2 + 2).

b in the case of a home, you can just buy another 4GB with SAME part/characteristics of the EXISTING RAM and install in the second slot.

    (b) if in 2 slots (IE 2 + 2), then throw them both and buy 2 new sticks 4 GB each. Agin use even care.

You don't need to format RAM. Moreover, we have only to format HDD/SSD but not RAM. And Yes, push in the two slots must be same same specs even marks to be able to get all the benefits.

    Kind regards.

    For your information:

Upgrade memory today to 2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 (1.9 GH, 256 MB DDR - RAM initially), both up to 1 GB, all fine and no problems.

Wanted to just end rumors "only 512 MB all together" or even less.

    DDR-SDRAM, SO-DIMM
    200 PINS
    2.5 CL

concerning the frequency of the RAM, building shape etc.

According to the specifications of the computer laptop Satellite Pro has two memory slots and can be upgraded up to 1 GB. It is very useful to have confirmation on the RAM upgrade for this model of laptop old but still good.
