I have recently restored a HP DV7 3063 cl laptop that died a hot mother (MB). I replaced the MB with a new Board of Directors of HP when the price has been reduced to $100, updated the CPU with an announced as new AMD 640 M and applied Arctic Silver on CPU and graphics chips. I put in 4 G memory cool, got the computer to work and installed Windows 10.

The computer seems to run very hot and stopped twice from overheating during its first period of 2 weeks when it there was not a lot of calculating, fan was run at top speed at all times, and the laptop was high to allow good airflow below.

According to the program of the Open Hardware Monitor, the CPU had reached 97-99 C a few times. I bought support cooling a player and that seems to help a lot, dropping the temperature to 20 ° C.

What is the maximum temperature for safe operation of the DV7 with the upgrade of the 640 M CPU?

Anything more than 90 c is too hot. You can specify the processor and the motherboard you have installed?

Also if this from the Manual:

Thermal paste is used on 1 CPU and heat sink section 2 that the services it. Thermal pads are used on the chip Northbridge 3 and 4, the graphical subsystem chip 5 contact Northbridge and graphics/heatsink contact 6. Thermal material replacement is included with all kits of spare parts of processor, heatsink and system board.

So unless you have changed the cooling system to heat composed on the chip graphic you should have used a thermal buffer. Without the pad, it may leave just a small hallway and destroy the cooling properties. You can use a shim in copper or other piece of something metal to fill the void, but if you just put the heat sink down on the video chip you won't get optimal even with thermal cooling paste.

Thank you for giving me the answer. I guess it's time to look for a new motherboard now.

No doubt, it would be nice if someone let HP know this, so people like me would not try to use this processor with the motherboard.

    Hello:

I suggest that install you the upgrade from the DVD (authoring tool of your own from the link below - media Make).

    https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/Windows10

The DVD will bypass the hardware checks.

Also, when you install W10 from the disk, skip verification of updates when you are prompted.

I'm trying to upgrade the processor 6100 fx to fx-8150, but I'm having a devil of a time finding a CPU cooler that fits the card mother angelica. what most people don't understand, is that the card mother angelica uses am3 + socket mount Intel cpu cooler. Anyone know or recommend a CPU cooler that will handle 125W cpu, go in the small space, not cause problems with editing? I already have that tower coolers match or working, because of the large part using PINs instead of screws, mount the cpu because is screw in and most of the towers are high.

I used the same CPU cooler on the fx-8150 and he ran very well because it was not overclocked.

  • Qosmio F30: I want to upgrade to Core 2 Duo CPU

I WANT TO UPGRADE TO A CORE2DUO PROCESSOR ON THE QOSMIO F30. BIOS MUST BE VERY WELL I JUST FLASHED SUCCESSFULLY.

    Hello

As you probably know, notebooks Qosmio F30 were delivered with different CPU's.
I discovered what processors were shipped with the units of F30:
Insuch Core Duo FSB: 667 MHz
    Core Duo - 2 M 1.66 GHz (processor number: T2300)
    Core Duo - 2 M 1.83 GHz (T2400 processor)
    Core Duo - 2 M 2.00 GHz (processor T2500)
    Core Duo - 2 M 2.16 GHz (processor T2600)

Processor Intel Core Solo FSB: 667 MHz

Intel Celeron M FSB: 533 MHz
    Celeron M 1.60 GHz (processor 420)
    Celeron M 1.73GHz (processor 430)

As far as I know this support socket 478 CPU.
In addition, the Qosmio F30 units are equipped with Intel 945GM and 945 PM chipset.
Units with nVidia graphics cards support Intel 945 PM chipset!

On processors Intel page I found details about 945GM and 945 PM chipset.
Supports the 945 PM chipset Intel Core Duo and Intel Core Solo

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Generally, the upgrade of the CPU is not supported. This means that no one can tell if the laptop would be functions properly after the upgrade of CPU.
The point is that BIOS has not been tested in other processors.
But I think you could use another CPU, but you must choose one of the same CPU family.

As far as I know that the laptop was equipped with the Intel CELERON M 380 has CPU

In addition it of important what chipset would support the new processor. This means that you should check the chipset and forced to seek support on the Intel page.

  • Pavilion G7-1338DX: upgrade to Intel i3 i5 CPU on Pavilion G7?

Hello. I had to change the cooling on my G7-1338DX fan who died (this laptop is exclusive to Best Buy apparently). While I had it apart, I decided to move to 8 GB of RAM. There is only a single BIOS for this laptop, F.66, the original BIOS. Would there be problems coming out of the i3 to 2350 M and exchange it for an i5 2520M clocked? I guess not because of the same chipset, but I just want to know that. The reason for which I am upgrading the CPU (or hoping to) is because I want to do a video about where four hearts and more RAM make the difference.

  • The upgrade of my XPS 435mt CPU

Does anyone know if the processor on the XPS 435mt (bought in 2010) can be upgraded to a new processor generation 3rd i7 - or if the motherboard would be able to accept anything newer than the 2.67Ghz that I come to the Board of Directors - he slowed way and I thought buy an i7 would keep at least going me for a few years...?  Any ideas or suggestions?  If I have to replace the motherboard to upgrade of processor - has someone at - he tried this successfully?  What motherboard do you have had success with.  I use the computer mainly for video editing of home movies... and internet surfing - just seems like he has really slowed down... Thank you

    T Hutchems

Sorry to revive an old topic but I am also wanting to upgrade my cpu to the 965 920 (as above). It would simply be a Plug - and play Exchange with nothing else to do? Well well, after a BIOS update? And I'd love any transfer to a new, more general cases.

    T Hutchems

    Yes.

But, before you install the new processor, verify that the latest BIOS is installed.

When a processor or a radiator is removed, replaced or reused, it is advisable to clean both and reapply a paste heat, as indicated.

Instructions for cleaning and application of thermal paste, are HERE.

Only a small tube of thermal paste is required, this can be bought from any store of the local computer, or online.

  • upgrade laptop computer DV7 AMD cpu of two to four hearts

I have a HP DV7 4xxxus (I forgot the exact model number is not at home) with a Dual AMD Phenom II N620 processor 2.80 GHz and was thinking about upgrading to a processor 2.20 GHz AMD Phenom II Quad N970. I've read enough up to this point to ensure that it is possible, but what other factors should I be aware of? I know that this model had a tendency to overheat, but I personally have never had my overheating at the stop. I keep the back elevated to get more air and took part more than once to clean the fan and replace the thermal compound (Arctic Silver) without incident. I use my machine mainly for the compilation of the Android ROM, so believe me when I say that this machine were put to the test the way the most extreme I can think of (the two hearts run at near 100% for hours at a time). I build these Roma back to back sometimes, and my laptop turns on for a period of days. I know it's clearer at the fair and buy new, but this machine gave me good years of use, and if I could find a good deal on a processor, I'd be willing to give it a try. Both processors have the same characteristics (2.0 MB of L2 cache, bus front end to 1 333 MHz, 35W 3.6 gigatransfers per second), so I don't foresee any problems on that front, but what the BIOS? It will need to be updated? Where can I find a viable for this new processor bios update? Can I upgrade the GPU as well? There are other concerns that I think not? Any help would be appreciated...

    Here's the appropriate Manual:

    Manual

The N970 is supported. You don't need to update the BIOS or something. The motherboard is configured to use this processor. It is generally advisable to reload the operating system after an upgrade of major processor that Windows can have parameters of system based on the original processor and you can lose some of the benefits of the upgrade if you do load a new OS, but apart from that there is nothing really to do.

  • eager to upgrade/repair an HP g6 - CPU/GPU of the 1d60us

the thing I wonder is if I can improve my A4 3320 M (other wise known as am3320ddx23gx) ether a better AMD or an intel better... Since my CPU/GPU 'killed' itself I wanted to know if instead of simply replacing the part (for $11... pft) I could get something better... but I don't know if a better AMD would work or if a intel (i3/i5/i7) would work... Since both are listed in the list parts in the online menaul

Yes, if someone could please help me?

The processor socket type is FS1-uPGA or first-generation FS1 I think

Your current processor is part of the series "LLano" Mobile AMD processors

You can select from the following list of processors LLano. Processors Trinity and Richland are 2nd and 3rd generation and use a socket FP2 and FS1R2

  • AOD257: upgrade Windows 10 reports that CPU wouldn't support NX

I can't move from Win7 Starter 32-bit home Win10 because the installation routine reports a missing NX.

So far, I know that the Atom N570 should be able to manage the no execute bit

I use the latest Bios 1.15 and there is no option to enable NX (respective XD bit)

I also tested a connected Bios 1.15 offering more installation options, but there is also no way to enable NX.

Can anyone confirm that he was able to install Win10 on the D257 one Aspire without problem?

    If Yes:

    -What edition of Windows 10?

    -32-bit or 64-bit

-Installation fees or upgrade from a previous version of windows?

    Team @Acer

Please provide a new BIOS update where you can turn on and not off any execution bit.

In addition, please activate plus some funktions hidden BIOS (for example HT power)

    Problem solved so far.

To avoid any loss of data, I installed a new SSD with Win7pro 32 bit.

With this new system, upgrade 32 bit Win10pro could install without problems.

It will take a while, but as soon as I installed my old SSD with a soft win7starter, I will report if this solves also the NX processor mismatch error.

By the way: there is no difference in speed between Win7 and Win10 with 2 GB of Ram and SSD drive. The two systems are fast with this hardware upgrade.  (= The original 1 GB of RAM and hard drive were very slowly.)
