Upgrade on Equium A100-060

Hello world

I have an equium A100-060 and I would upgrade it.
I want to replace my CPU Intel T2250 with an Intel T7700.

The problem is that the T2250 is 32-bit instead the T7700 is a 64-bit.
Is compatible, but I did not now if the motherboard is compatible also.
The motherboard model is the V000068830 'A 1310, 2101803.

Any of you tried this upgrade?

The question is if my motherboard supports the new 64-bit processor.
Thanks for all the answers, if there will be.

Goodbye :)

PS: Sorry for my English.

> The power socket is compatible but I don't know if the motherboard is compatible also.

This chipset is used in this notebook?
You should check if the chipset would be able to manage the new processor.
If the socket is compatible and if the chipset is capable of managing the new processor then you'd have a good chance to upgrade the processor.

PS: Here you can find some info about upgrades for Toshiba laptops.

  • Need information about HDD upgrade on Equium A100-027

    HI people :-)

Can I change the HARD disk drive in my Equium a100 027 for one with a speed of 7200 RPM?

If not what is the largest size of HARD drive I can put in?

It is also useful to do a lot to make a dual boot with Vista and XP or get one with Vista and the other drive with XP

Someone can also point me in the direction of the place where to buy the right type of player with the correct connection... its SATA I think

Thanks in advance for your help

In my opinion, you can use the HARD drive with the speed of 7200 RPM. I put t really see no reason why this should not be possible!

It is important that you buy a HARD drive with the interface supported and the size of the HARD drive.

You are right; Equium A100 supports SATA HDD interface.
You must not use SATA and IDE hard drives!

According to some internet sites, the laptop came with 80 GB HARD drive.
I presume that you should be able to upgrade the 120 GB HARD drive, but this is just a suggestion because Toshiba does not have any official information on the maximum size of HARD drive.

    Best regards

  • Re: Vista upgrade on Equium A100-147

My wife and I are two retirees on a limited budget and can't afford to change the above machine and we would like to move from XP to Vista. Is it better to be upgraded or reformat and install full programs? Also should I get updates for other programs that are there?

    Thanks in advance

    Ken

    Hi Ken

To be clear: Vista upgrade shouldn't be problematic. You must obtain Microsoft Vista DVD facilities and make the clean OS install. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

To be honest I have to say that Alan is right about the upgrade and I agree with everything he writes. In the end I have to say: the decision is yours only.

If you need more assistance please post again.
    Good luck!

The search in google, arrived from some A100 with 160 GB HARD drive, so I think that you have a good chance a 250 GB will work.

Can you try a 250 GB before buy you?

    Hello

The A100 series is one of the new series of laptop that exists on the market. So I see problems with the upgrade of the 120 GB HARD drive

  • Upgrading RAM and HDD on Equium A100-027

    Hello

I have an Equim A100-027 and I already upgraded the two 512 MB to 2 GB 2 memory chips which is the maximum I can get?

I've also already installed a hard drive over a 350GB one, but I'm looking to install a high - what is the maximum size that I could install? I guess that there must be a limit, but I was hoping that 750 GB to 1 TB would be OK.

I appreciate all the answers - thanks in advance.

    Hello

I'm afraid that 2 GB RAM ist the value of memory as possible which is supported by Equium A100-027 Mr. I have this chipset limitation.

Upgrading the HARD drive must be possible from the controller SATA isn't limited to a certain size.
That's why I think that 750Go should be possible

Please share the news with us after finishing these updates.

  • Equium A100: Need some details on upgrade opportunities

    Hey guys and girls
    I'll get to the point.

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop. He was provided with 1 GB (2 x 512 MB modules) providing I find the correct memory DDR 2 modules.
Does anyone know if there is a limit to how much I can increase the RAM?

I also want to replace the HARD drive module as the 80 GB just doesn't cut it, any advice or direction on that would be greatly received.

Also, any information on an upgrade of the processor would be appreciated.

I know it's asking a lot, but you guys know better than me.

First of all I have to say, it will be interesting to know what Equium A100 you exactly (A100-xxx).
Upgrading RAM is very easy and you can do it in first. According to specifications of the laptop, your laptop can handle with 4 GB max and compatible RAM modules is DDR2-533 1 GB (PA3411U-2M1G). To check the list of all compatible modules visit Toshiba support under http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com page

On the upgrade of the HARD drive, there is no public document, but I'm sure that you can upgrade up to 250 GB HARD drive with no problems.

Update CPU is not supported and you should think about it. Believe me with the maximum RAM that you need not upgrade CPU. Maximum RAM upgrade and optimize the operating system.

  • Equium A100 - 306 Question on upgrade Vista ModusLink

    Hello

I bought an Equium A100-306 in November before deploying operations that I'm in the forces and could not be updated before that.

I just go and discovered that I can't have my Vista upgrade I missed the deadline. I ModusLink E-mail unanswered. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or that you could help me solve this problem.

I think that I should not miss out on the free update due to circumstances beyond my control. Looking through the documentation I received with my laptop there was no deadline, said that it is only on the internet, the date limit is clearly but I was unable to verify this.

    Thanks for any help.
    Greg

    Hi Greg

What to say. The overall programme is controlled by the ModusLink Corporation and any misunderstanding, you must try to clarify with them. I think that the end of March was the deadline for the Vista upgrade program.

Sorry, but you are alone and try to talk with them about the situation as a whole.

  • Equium A100-337: poor performance Vista - should I upgrade to XP?

I have a brand new Equium A100-337, which came with Vista as standard.

No games work correctly (yes I tried the emulator). The noise is terrible and DVDs are almost inaudible. The firewall stops or crashes constantly. Now, I get the message that Toshiba flash cards do not work - I don't even know what they are!

    Is this normal?
Installing XP would solve my problems?

    Hello

What is a RAM upgrade. In line with this model of laptop comes with 512 MB of RAM. Very interesting, is that this graphics card is shared and use RAM for graphics operations. I imagine that the performance is not one that suits.

This model laptop can handle with 4 GB of RAM and I recommend you increase the RAM with 1 extra GB module.

I'm sure that the performance will be much better. 512 MB for me is certainly not enough. It is the same with Windows XP Home edition when the unit only has 256 MB of RAM.

    Good bye

  • Equium A100-147 - including modules of RAM to upgrade?

    Hello

I think to upgrade the RAM on my Equium A100-147 and I was wondering what kind of RAM I should get and what is the maximum amount of RAM supported?

It has a processor clocked at 1.6 GHz centrino duo t2050 if that's any help? I looked on the toshiba site and they sell only 1 GB of supported modules, but in other places I've seen people say that it can take more?

    Thank you

    Hi mate,

The maximum RAM capacity depends on your chipset you have. From Toshiba Web site displays a maximum capacity of 4 GB of RAM, but don t forget, you need an OS to use the full capacity of 64-bit. Otherwise, you are only able to use about 3 GB.

You can buy all the modules you want to, but I made good experiences with the Kingston modules. Kingston memory research shows the compatible modules for your laptop:

  • Upgrade of RAM Equium A100-147

Hi, I have an Equium A100-147 with the standard of 1 GB of RAM (512 MB + 512 MB pc-4200) professional XP.

I'd like to update, and I was wondering if it would be allowed to replace one of the 512 MB sticks with a single stick of 2 GB pc-5300. RAM would be then 2 GB pc-5300 plus 512 MB pc-4200 = 2.5 GB in total.

Or would it be better to buy 2 x 1 GB sticks of pc-5300 and sell or discard existing memory?

I see a significant speed increase over the existing configuration of the Ram?

    All advice appreciated.

    Thank you.

I agree with Akuma, it would be better to use 2 x 1 GB modules.

This combination with 2 GB and 512 MB with different (PC4200 and PC5300) specifications could make problems like freezing, BSOD, etc..

At present, the price of memory is very cheap, so I think that this should not be a problem.

  • Question about updating map of RAM and graphics on Equium A100-027

    Hello
    I have an Equium A100-027 with 1 GB of RAM (2 x 512MB modules)
If I would like to raise the speed, which RAM modules would need? I also need a new graphic card, can I buy a graphics card or should it be some for my laptop?

    Hello

in regard to your question upgrade:

    RAM-> you need 200 pin DDR2 RAM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SO-DIMM

Graphics-> update is not possible, because the graphics card is soldered on the motherboard of your laptop, which means it s 'wired '.

    That's all

Yes. It is possible to upgrade your Equium up to 2 GB, but you must use compatible memory modules.

  • Equium A100-027 - Question about the installation of Win 7:32-bit or 64-bit

    Hello

    I have an Equium A100-027
I have just ordered an upgrade to 2 GB RAM and want to do a new install of WINDOWS 7 on Vista.

Should I go for the 32-bit version or 64 - not sure if I need one over the other based on the processor?

    Thanks in advance

    David

    Hello

Windows 7 32 bit supports max 3.2 GB of RAM
In case you want to upgrade the RAM to 4 GB of RAM, I recommend to choose Windows 7 64-bit to be able to use all 4 GB of RAM

The processor is an Intel Pentium T2060 that supports 32-bit but physical address Extensions is based on 32 bits, which allows x 86 processors to access more than 4 GB of physical memory
