upgrade presario C542EA

My DVD drive is dead and I'm looking to replace it with a lightscribe drive you know a dvd burner compatible lightscribe for the presario 500?

Would also like to spend my hard drive, current drive is a seagate momentus 80 GB ST980821AS so a SATA hard drive but don't know if it's 300 SATA or SATA 150. All of the recommendations. I know that the momentus 300 can be set to 159 but also note your recommendations on replacement discs. Looking West scorpion digital 320

This eBay seller says they have for the C500 Lightscribe discs:

eBay

I've never really been a fan of Lightscribe and never met anyone who use it extensively. Label burning is very slow and the media are still expensive. You can get a compatible player for less money that these people pose.

In regards to the hard drive, it doesn't really matter if you are using a SATA-150 or SATA-300, either will work. The WD Scorpio Blue 320 GB is a good choice. Problems have been reported with 500 gig drives and 7200 RPM drives so stick with a 320 GB 5400 RPM drive max compatibility.

    Hi all!

I have a Compaq Presario C731TU I absolutely need to upgrade its opportunities top of page. I discovered that he could run processor family Intel core 2 duo, and celeron family, that sounds really good!

Then consulted taken PPGA478 processors on the site of intel with their processor feature filter (http://ark.intel.com/search/advanced?s=t&FamilyText=Legacy%20Intel%C2%AE%20Core%E2%84%A22%20Processo...)   the best option seems to be Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9500 (2.60 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 6 MB Cache).

    My question is:

Is there another cpu option better? Inside of a forum, I read that it can withstand up to Intel C2D T9xxx family but after T9500 (e.g. T9600 or T9900) taking turns into PGA478 and not PPGA478. What is the difference between PPGA478 and PGA478? are they the same or not?

Are there limits on the CPU with the BIOS upgrade? (mine is upgrated to F34 which should be the latest version)

About RAM: this laptop should work max 2 GB of ram but in fact I use it with 3 GB of ram (with these config.: 1 GB on the inner slot and 2 GB on the external, the inverse solution does not work, can not guess why), but someone "found a way" to use the 2 banks of 2 GB 4 GB total (and if according with this http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/specupdate/316274.pdf - pag. 19 - should be quite possible) , what ram 2x2gb modules can be accepted if? Help me = S

Thank you very much in advance!

I opened the laptop and the chipset inside the computer, wirtten there is an INTEL GL 960 who should manage only 553 mhz FSB... But... I installed inside, as the core 2 duo t9300, which has 800 Mhz FSB and it is fully functional in frequency from 800 Mhz to FSB. Really good news =)

AIDA 64 tool (former Everest) shows the FSB of GL960 chipset can run on 533, 667 and 800 Mhz frequency.

Apparently, all of the aforementioned processors are compatible with my system, but some are only compatible with some models (model i.e. 1.1 and 1.2).  How can I determine which model I have and what processor will give me the best output for my money?

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated!

It may "work", but as I said the GL40 simply has no circuits to take full advantage of the advanced features of the high range processors. Also no he don't mention not all i-series processors in the list. They are all Core 2 Duo T4200 except. Your Celeron 900 is one heart. Even a Pentium dual as say the T4200 will be much better and will be fully compatible with the GL40 chipset and very cheap to start.

After reading page 1 of the above maintenance manual, it seems that I could improve my laptop for the P8700 (SLGFE) CPU.
After trying 3 processors from eBay - no work!  All were sold as work - surely they can't all be losers!

Laptop updated from the BIOS F.8 F.23 before the first attempt to upgrade and confirmed in Windows.

3 x P8700 inserted and reassembled, powers mobile place very well but don't post.

PC starts and works very well with old CPU then reinserted.

During the inspection of the old CPU - Celeron - 900 (SLGLQ), it seems that it is not in the maintenance manual either.
I can't find the motherboard jumpers or dip switches, so that rules out...

  • Compaq Presario CQ5600F: upgrade to M2N68-(Narra6)

Hello. I have a desktop PC Compaq Presario CQ5600F which took a power surge. I use Windows 10 Pro and I'd like to update the Pegatron M2N68-(Narra5) motherboard M2N68-(Narra6). I saw some of these for the sale of the mobo. Can someone point me in the right direction. I'm trying to find the drivers and perhaps installation information. The motherboards I've seen are either used, rebuilt, or "other nine" with no accessories.

    Hi @stan7926,

Thank you for your participation in the Forums of HP Support! It is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I understand that you need information on an upgrade of the motherboard of your PC. I'll be happy to help you with this.

It's always a great pleasure to work with tech-savvy and technically customers sounds like you. Kudos to you for this. I am amazed at your technical skills and levels of technical knowledge.

First of all, the specifications are very clear on the HP website. It supports "M2N68-(Narra5)" with the drivers, BIOS and other updates available on the HP Web site. About the upgrade to M2N68-(Narra6), it may be possible, but before you buy the product, I would suggest that you contact a technician on-site that this motherboard is not listed by HP as a compatible Web site.

I thank you greatly for posting your question on the forums of HP and for giving us the platform to help you. You are a customer of HP and we greatly thank you for doing business with HP.

It is important that you are having problems with the bios and driver incompatibilities on the motherboard and windows 10 Therefore, it is recommended that you contact a local technician and check the compatibility of the motherboard before making any attempt to improve it. • Compaq Presario CQ5300Y desktop PC - memory upgrade

Hello, everyone! I hope you are all well.

I have a desktop PC Compaq Presario CQ5300Y, to which I would like to upgrade the memory.

The product specifications indicate clearly that the motherboard, a M2N68-(Narra5), 2 x DDR2 memory media. (In addition, the amount of installed memory is 2 GB.)

The product specifications, in the information section of upgrade memory also mention the following:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dual channel memory architecture
    Supports two DDR2 DIMM (240-pin)

    Supported DIMM types:

    PC2-5300 (667 MHz)
    PC2-6400 (800 MHz)

    Memory non - ECC, unbuffered
Supports DIMM DDR2 2 GB modules
Supports up to 4 GB * on 32-bit PCs
    * 32 - bit operating systems cannot resolve a full 4.0 GB memory.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm clear (with what the article said) I have only available two DIMM DDR2 2 brackets.

"What confuses me is the statement" ""supports 2 GB DDR2 DIMM '. This is the reason for my question.

"Supports 2 GB DDR2 DIMM" means that I have to use 2 GB DDR DIMM only, which means I can only go to 4 GB? Or could I use 4GB DDR2 DIMM, which breaks the barrier of 4 GB?

In a few words, I would like to - at least - 8GB (assuming that I find two modules DIMM DDR2 4 GB). Would it be possible to have the above configuration?

It is important to mention that the PC is running a 64-bit operating system.

I would appreciate the attention he can draw on this issue.

    Best regards.

    Hello:

Each slot of memory on the motherboard of your PC cannot accept that a maximum of one module of memory of 2 GB.

    1 x 2 GB will work.

    2 x 2 GB will work.

    1 x 4 GB will not work.
