Upgrade RAM on HP ENVY 14-2166se Notebook PC

Hi all. Recently I bought HP ENVY 14 - 2166se Notebook PC, comes with 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) of RAM preinstalled. I'd like to update the 16 GB RAM, but do not know what is compatible with my laptop. Any piece of useful advice is welcome and will be highly appreciated.

Also, please advise if someone known problems so far?

Thank you.

Hello:

Looking at the specifications of your laptop, he needs 2 x 8 GB PC3-10600 memory.

One of these should work.

If I had to make the purchase, I'd buy in that order - first to fourth choice:

1 G.Skill

2 patriot

3. critical

4 corsair

I can't advise on any questions that I don't have your model laptop.

Yes, with one of these cards, you will have bluetooth.

I prefer Intel products, but the MCB card should be fine also.

You can buy from them or use the information (including the price) to buy elsewhere.

  • HP Envy 14-1010nr: HP Envy 14-1010nr Notebook PC: replace and upgrade to USB 3.0 ports

    Hello

I have a HP Envy 14 - 1010nr Notebook PC, which had two USB 2.0 ports on the left side and a USB 3.0 port on the right.

USB 3.0 port was damaged such as connectors plugged it seem a little loose and can move laterally a little so that the connection to the device comes in and out - makes it uncertain to copy some stuff on a hard drive through it, for example.

Is it possible for me to replace this port? Where could find a spare part for that if it can replace?

Even though I am inside the computer, I might as well replace the USB 2.0 with USB 3.0 ports ports if the pats replacement for that exist...

You're right, because there is no audio + USB 3.0, only the original + USB 2.0

  • TouchSmart HP ENVY 15-j040us Notebook PC-problem with internet gambling after upgrade to 8.1 windows

I have a HP Envy 15-j040us Notebook PC Touchsmart is currently using 8.1 64-bit windows.  I play 2 Farmville on Facebook.  I started having problems after installing Windows 8.1.  My mouse hesitates and reluctant game and I can barely move on the screen.  I am not real computer savy but can follow directions if you can just tell me what I need to do to correct this.  Everything on the screen is just very slow and the mouse does not seem to want to go where I'm pointing to it.

    Hello @aodom ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you have any questions, play Farmville 2 since the update to Windows 8.1.

First, update the drivers for your graphics (GPU) with the following download: driver Intel graphics high definition (HD).

Once you have done this, update Adobe Flash player plugin with the following download: Adobe - Flash Player

Once you have updated the GPU and the Flash Player, disable hardware acceleration for Flash on your laptop:

    1. Right click any where on the Farmville game once it has loaded.
    2. Select settings.
    3. Make sure that you are on the tab display/graph (see image below).
    4. Clear the check box to enable hardware acceleration if it is available. If you are prompted to activate the control of your webcam or microphone that these steps do not apply because the game is not trying to use the acceleration.

Let me know if it helps.

Page 66 of this guide details how to replace the processor.  This is not an easy task, and one that I recommend leaving in a PC shop for most users.  I can't guarantee a work a processor than those available at the time of the order in the book.  Laptops are designed with in mind and their needs very specific processors.  A faster processor may produce more heat than the laptop is designed to handle.  I recommend sticking with the processors listed on page 66, but your current processor is not too far from the top, and an increase in Basic .3GHz cannot provide enough increase: you can search.

The i7-2820QM is a slightly different series and it can work, but I can't guarantee 100% that it will work.  He, however, has the best chance of working.

Page 42 of the guide lists the RAM modules compatible with this device.  However, 4 GB PC3 10600 is the highest RAM module listed.  The laptop has two slots, and should be two modules of upcoming 4 GB to 8 GB of RAM in your system is now.  It is perhaps already the ability.  However, it may take up to 16 GB.  Users have reported some laptops list 8 GB as the maximum capacity, but was able to install the two 8GB modules without a problem to reach 16 GB of RAM.  I can only say that the RAM is at capacity based on the information available, but it may be possible to get more.  Still, it is not guaranteed.

I'm having some trouble with my Portege 4000 for the moment. I installed XP on a disk, but will no longer have that I have 256 MB of RAM...

-Have you tried 2 manufacturers but the PC133 512 is not compatible. However, my system has an IBM of PC100 256 chip, which was bought early last year, after much trial and error, and I wonder now if the motherboard will be more suited to the PC100 and PC133 non?

-Consider the options alternative to XP, 98SE or 2000 because they are lighter operating systems. I can put it on a spare drive (test). Is it possible to set up a partition for recovery CD Rom (which has 98SE) on this subject and have little space left over to install another Linux operating system or its Manager partition crushes everything?

-Just for the record, not all Linux distributions seem to go back on the size of the screen, so it takes some work...

    The protégé 4000 is compatible with the PC133 modules! AFAIK, you can upgrade RAM of this notebook 1 GB (1024 MB) and you can use these modules;
    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)
    PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25)
    PC133 128 MB (PA3085U - 1 M 12)

You can create partitions on the HARD drive using a 3rd party like Partition Magic 8 tool. I use this tool and it's really nice.
After you create 2 or three partitions on the HARD disk, you could install different OS (operating systems).

Maintenance and Service of Guide (page 2), there is an option to have mSATA reader:

Supports the following simple SSD drive configurations:
    ● 128 GB mSATA,
    ● 80 GB, mSATA
    ● 160 GB, SATA

But you must buy the right part for this and it looks like you have to throw it on the HARD drive. Please check the book (page 56)
