Upgrade the hard disk on Tecra M9 will void the warranty?

Hello

I want to upgrade the hard drive on a Tecra M9 120 GB to a 200 GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K 200 hard drive SATA 3 GB/s. The coverage still apply for the Tecra after this upgrade?

Kind regards

charlieMOGUL

Upgrading the HARD drive would not affect the validity of the guarantee.

But I'm not sure on the size 200 GB HARD drive the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and not all dimensions are supported. If the HARD disk is too big, the BIOS would not recognize the new HARD disc.

The problem is that Toshiba doesn't provide any information on HARD drive sizes possible.
I think that you should just look at it

If you have tested this HARD drive, please report it here in the forum I m very interesting if the 200 GB would run properly.

Good bye

    Hello

I found information that your device can handle with max 256 MB and compatible module unit Pentium II are:
    PA2060U 32 MB
    PA2061U 64 MB
    PA2062U 128 MB

For user who have the Pentium III unit I'll also post this compatible module are:
    PC100 128 MB (PA3005U)
    PC100 64 MB (PA3004U)
    PC100 32 MB (PA3003U)

HARD drive upgrade is always a little more problematic because of the maximum capacity that will be recognized correctly, but I assume you can use up to 20 GB of HARD disk without problem.
Sorry, but I didn? t find accurate information about it.

    Hello

I don't know but, I am very pessimistic, you have every chance of casting more than 8 GB HDD to your laptop because there are BIOS HARD disk size restrictions! If the latest version of the BIOS does not support the new HDD it appears impossible to run!

Can you please send a link where is possible to read the specifications of this 40 GB HARD drive.

    Hello

There is certainly a point HARD drive size limitation is that the BIOS supports not all HARD drive sizes, and to be honest think I don t think the 320 GB HARD drive would go.
I think it s all just too big

Unfortunately, Toshiba doesn't provide details about the possible HARD drive s max
But I think that a 120 GB HDD should t be a problem

  • How to change or remove a password hard disk on Tecra M9

Hi, I have a Tecra M9. I put a password for hard drive just to try. Now I want to remove or change. I have the hard drive password. PC ask me psw hard drive each time you start. What is the procedure to remove or change? Toshiba Assist cannot give me any option to change it. Can someone help me? Thank you and sorry for my English...

The HARD drive password can be removed by using security help.

Using the BIOS SETUP, tab of the HARD drive password section which should appear as follows:
    HARD drive password
HARD = built-in HARD disk drive
HARD drive password mode = USER only
    Registered = user password

In the field "User password" tab and just enter the old password and then a new twice (once to check) as you normally would.
If you don't want a password, simply press "enter" twice

    That's all...

  • Partition of hard disk on Tecra 8100

I changed the 12 GB of HARD drive with a 40 GB HARD drive. But I couldn't partition this time. The last time with the help of this forum I had partitioned the 12 GB for use with Win 98 and XP. I think you forgot the procedure to partition the HARD drive. I think it's during the initial data recovery CD installation when asked me to creat partition (if any). This time, I don't see such a request. Please help because without XP a lot of my devices work... no drivers.

I was also wondering if there will be problems of heat with long game several hours a day. (e.g. Skyrim/Assassin Creed/Dragon Age Inquisition)?

I'll upgrade later from the PSU and video card, assuming the case is pretty cool - I have a Coolermaster EVO that I doubt will fit.

Any other advice on installation? I don't know if the update of the Bios is required for this card.

    Anyway, thanks in advance.

warranty shouldn't be a problem. Older GPU do not need an update of the BIOS, most recent need of revision of the A10.

Here's a whole thread discussing what you plan.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/t/19611037

I don't come by that much money on a 660 GTX when more recent, better, faster cards is available for less money, that draw less energy and generate less heat.

A GTX 960 will well on skyrim and OK on Assassin creed.

A GTX 970 will be much better, but the OEM PSU is at the limit

Cooling is not bad at all, just make sure that the case has a lot of airflow around it.

Unfortunately, yours is one of the models where you have to take the laptop almost all path that starts to get hard disk. Do so would void the warranty. I'm a big advocate of the SSD, but in your case, the difficulties and probable spending cuts against the fact.

  • Satellite Pro A300 - will be lost the warranty if I upgrade the RAM?

    Hey guys,.

I wanted to know if I purchase and install my own module SO-DIMM RAM in my laptop, it will void my warranty?
If so, how can I spend my memory?

    I agree with Akuma.
You will not void the warranty if you upgrade the RAM.
I've also updated my RAM and I t has not had any problems with my warranty.

Moreover, the best RAM for upgrade is the RAM even if you as before. I mean the manufacturing and specification. So you can ensure that the new RAM will work.

  • Dell XPS 8700 HARD disk partition

Can someone tell me if the above is partitioned in C and D drives and their size. I currently own a XPS 8100 with 63 GB C (50 GB, BONE) and the 180 GB D drive. It is a great computer, but constantly running out of space on the C drive. It runs Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Think to update on the 8700 but don't want to go down the same route. Could not get any sense on the Dell sales people.

    Hello

About partitioning, Dell can't shrink or extend partition as it can end up losing data.

However guests can use various 3rd party free software as "Partition manager" we relieve 'Partition Master' etc.

Please search for free partitioning software hard disk in Google, you will find the top free software

And 8700 XPS machines, the size varies according to the type of hard drive and the configuration you order with the PC.

    Thanks for anyones help.

    Hello

Upgrading the CPU is a bit tricky on laptops and more often than not desirable and is not possible.
After the CPU overheating upgrade, it would be possible that don t cooling modules are working properly and the laptop.
Why? Well well, the CPU new and stronger products, more heat and the temperature would be Monte. The fan table that is stored in the BIOS will not correspond with the new CPU and the cooling fans would not correctly work.
In addition, upgrading CPU will void your warranty! It's very risky!

Anyway, looks like you certainly want to upgrade the processor?
So I would check the chipset installed on your laptop.
Try to know the details of the chipset and Intel page for compatible processors research!

    Thank you

(NB several opinions would be appreciated)

    Hello

You warranty still valid. You can upgrade the memory without any problems, but you must use the right modules and supported.
As far as I know, these modules are compatible:
    DDR2-533 256 MB (PA3389U - 2M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-533 PA3412U - 2 M (51)
    1 GB OF DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G)

But are you sure you want to upgrade the memory of 512 MB?
AFAIK all already shipped with 512 MB.

    Hello

I would like to change my keyboard because it does not work very well, I can change it myself or it will void my warranty?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

As far as I know you will lose warranty if you disassemble the laptop yourself. Then I recommend to contact a technician from the laptop to help.

I mean if your laptop is under warranty, the repair should be free and also the new keyboard. On the Toshiba site, you can find the nearest authorized service provider.

Moreover, what laptop do you have?

I guess that the 80 GB HARD drive will not be recognized by the BIOS correctly.
