  You do not have to manually disable you the WiFi, all you have to do is to run an ethernet cable from your router/access point and connect to your ethernet port on the laptop.

  As soon as an ethernet cable is plugged into a computer/laptop, Wifi is disabled automatically, it's the industry standard ethernet tends to provide more transmision of data reliable and stronger than wireless signals.

  However if you use a Modem and not a gateway/router then you can buy a new router, or ask your ISP to upgrade your Moderm to a gateway.

  If you want to keep it cost effective and minimal cost, you could also try doing an Internet connection sharing, providing that your computer has an additional network card, or you could buy a new network adapter and snap it to your computer because the laptop is internet sharing off of your computer in this configuration, you may experience a slow connection.

  I just got back my cell phone after being reimagee Windows.

  There are above the keyboard volume and tabs of wi - fi, wi - fi works very well, if I turn it off it changes the color red. However not in the same goes for the volume (it's always white) and also before the reimage whenever I put the volume there was little box on the screen showing how I changed the volume... Now, still works, but I want this little box back what seemed before. How can I do?

  I installed HP MediaSmart together - and restarted the laptop after her, but always without success.

  I have a 64-bit Windows 7 installation.

  I would try this;

  1. Unplug your USB cable.
  2. Click on the Start Menu, find and open devices and printers.
  3. Right-click on any printer that refers to this model, then click on remove device (so delete all HP Deskjet 2540 s in here)
  4. Then repeat installation, unplugged the USB cable and see if the installation detects the printer already on your network.

  You should be able, if your laptop currently has two attached to the wireless card antenna cables.

  As your laptop has an AMD processor and chipset, you would be limited to the installation of a Broadcom adapter dual band Wireless-N with bluetooth, or a Broadcom adapter dual band wireless AC with bluetooth.

  99% of the time, Intel wireless cards do not work on AMD platforms.

  If your laptop only has a single antenna drive, you need to be willing and able to take the laptop everything hand, including the area of display panel, to run successfully a second antenna.

The current wireless card only works on the 2.4 Ghz band and I want to upgrade to a dual band to get the best speed etc. to 5 GHz. I have an Intel Centrino N6230 of replacement card, but the phone will not accept anything other than the default map. At the start, it stops with an error message saying that it will not continue unless the "unauthorized device" is deleted.   Do not completely blame HP, but it was little 1984 involving your federal Government. HP and Lenovo read a few Federal Communications Comm regs on the recording of radio portable wireless (including the computer wifi cards) to require that alternative cards are blocked. Other laptop makers has not agreed and now the 'white list' is history, but there is no effort to go back and make new BIOS for older models.

  HP wireless card versions have specific identification in the firmware looking for the HP whitelist before clearing the map to use if you use the version of HP. I looked pretty hard for a version of HP of the card and the one I linked is everything I could find. Google around and you can do better.

  You cannot move from motherboards and processors to laptops. However, you can increase the RAM and change the HARD drive.

  This model series is not the whitelist and you can use virtually any desired wireless card. Intel 7260AC for example...

  Hi tardis, regarding the upgrade. The problem is that I can't by the Recovery Manager window that says "inconplete restoration", I tried Jo turned it off the laptop, but it still run recovery and it will always end up with the same window. Meaning, I can't go through my main desktop to search and open for windows update. Is there another way? I'm stuck with this box of the Recovery Manager window.

  I understand that your wireless network was working but now it says not available and shows not all networks.

  Have you ran the Windows troubleshooting tool?

  If you check device manager is there any errors on the network map?

  HP Notebook PCs - performing a Hard Reset or forced Reset.  Please be sure to disconnect all external devices and remove any disc from the optical drive.
