Upgrade to firefox 22 will disable Norton protective vulnerability 11.3.09-5. This will also disable norton in IE?
What are the details? Update firefox message warned me, it would take an action, which could be relevant details to this threatened action? I use Norton 360, IE 10 on windows 7 64-bit. Will disabling feature of Norton in Firefox "specific browser" or it will also disable this feature when I run IE?
Norton won't close at all, just the protector of the vulnerability will be turned off in firefox, but you are always safe as long as norton is on your system tray, it will be netherless.

I've upgraded to firefox 4.0, now my norton and secure site norton toolbar does not work with 4.0, whats up with that?, how can I me norton to work with firefox 4.0
Symantec has released updates for Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security to make them compatible with Firefox 4, for details see http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-4-compatibility-hotfix-is-now-available/td-p/428894

I upgraded to 4 FF. The Norton 5.5 toolbar is not compatible. I want to know if I am always protected by Norton during navigation, even though the Norton toolbar is not installed. According to Norton settings, web protection is enabled and works. If I am always protected I'll wait for a toolbar update Norton is available, otherwise I will need to know how to uninstall FF 4 and reinstall FF3.6.
With the exception of the Norton toolbar, Norton Internet Security 2011 works very well with Firefox 4. It always made Norton a while to update their software to have their toolbar works with major versions of Firefox.

When the upgrade to Firefox 3.6 4, it will keep your settings, bookmarks, tabs/Session Manager settings, etc.?
When updates to Firefox, it will use the profile folder existing (location where user data is stored). It's going to use you current bookmarks, use passwords, cookies and other data.
During the upgrade, it will check your extensions and themes to see if they are compatible with Firefox 4. If they are not compatible with Firefox 4, it will offer to check updates and if none is found, it will disable the.
Although not exhaustive, the following link shows the compatibility of many popular add-ons. Those listed as compatible with 4.0. * or more should work on Firefox 4 - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/compatibility/report

before I did the upgrade to firefox 4 it used to be indicators such as green points with hooks or gray points with an exclamation mark let me know if the site is secure. the norton toolbar has been replaced by a yahoo toolbar and the secure site of identity has disappeared. thought I was doing myself a favor of the upgrade, but now I'm not sure. should have left well enough alone and kept what I had.
Symantec needs update their Firefox Add-ons to make them compatible with Firefox 4. They indicated that, for Norton 360, they plan to release a update of Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early may - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web & docurl = 20100720113635EN & ln = en_US
I don't know about the time scale for the updates for other Norton products. Waiting for the update by Symantec, if you want to use Norton modules, you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
Downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first of all uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option 'remove my Firefox personal data '. If you select this option, it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
Then you can install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your favorite courses, passwords etc.
I recommend, to avoid possible problems with decommissioning, accessing your profile folder and delete the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Delete these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, check their compatibility and cancel the toolbar customizations.
For more information on how to find your profile folder, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

In early October, Microsoft forced an upgrade on my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Firefox 49.0.2 continued to operate correctly. Then Firefox 50 arrived, and when the automatic upgrade occurred, Firefox would no longer work. It seems normal on the screen, but it will not look for the website of my saved favorites, and it connects to sites that I identify by entering the url in the address bar. It also doesn't close - to close Firefox, I have to call the Task Manager. I tried to uninstall Firefox 50 and put it back - that does not work. I also tried to uninstall Firefox 49.0.2 completely, restart the computer and then do a fresh install of Firefox 50, but nothing seems to work.
I came back to Firefox 49.0.2 as a temporary measure (disabling the auto update feature), but this isn't a good solution in the long term. What should I do? Wait for Firefox 51? Abandon Firefox?
Help!
If you want to revert to Windows 7, you can.

Your problem may have several causes. Let's start with;
Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but it no longer recognizes your updated as version being approved. Now how do I solve the problem: to allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again.
- Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (for example, you are using the latest version).
- Delete Firefox to list your program of programs approved or recognized. For detailed instructions, see
Configure the firewall so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Impossible to update Norton Toolbar after upgrade to Firefox 39.0
Running Windows 7 and Norton Security with backup. Upgrade to Firefox 39.0. Notice that Norton toolbar would be handicapped because is is not compatible. By announcement of Norton, a patch was released that would update the Norton toolbar to a compatible version. Just need to run Norton LIVE UPDATE and reboot several times. Tried to update by these instructions and still Norton toolbar has not been updated to compatible version. The only other suggestion by other users is to uninstall Norton Security with backup and reinstall. I would like to see if there are other options to fix this problem without having to uninstall antivirus whenever a new version of browser is updated.
Hi loeracs, if the norton update does not work to install the new version of their toolbar on your system, so that you would probably contact symantec technical support help in getting their product to work or to see if there is no work around.

After the upgrade to Firefox 34.0 Firefox 33.2.2 (?) I noticed that the search bar it did not display my search engines. Search engines still exist in the folder but are not visible. However, typing a word in the search bar causes a section of my display flashes all by pressing "enter" will correctly look for the word on Wikipedia, my first search engine. Unfortunately for me, by the time I typed this search bar seems to work fine now. Thus, in addition to a late evening, what the hell just happened, and will this crawling bug returns with each update? What is a linux question (IE. 5.3.3 puppy)?
34 Firefox has a whole new search bar and associated Options tab.
https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/search-bar-add-change-manage-search-engines-FirefoxYou can return to the former regime of the search with this bar.
Open Subject: config (typed in the address bar) and turn this false preference
browser.search.showOneOffButtons
Then restart Firefox. -
Upgrade to Firefox 24 and now nothing works at all despite uninstall it and reinstall several times and lose all my favorites etc. However, it does not start in safe mode. At first, I thought it was my Norton 360 Security, but after 2 hours in contact with them, I'm still in the same position. When I double click on the Firefox icon I see the moment where the cursor and then it disappears and nothing loads.
My OS is Windows Vista Premium and I use Windows internet explore for the time.
HELP Please!
Thank you nellus91.
I used the Microsoft Safety Scanner first, and it found nothing. I then used TDSSkiller and he found the problem.
Problem solved.
Thank you.

How to unlock a Firefox plugin has disabled "for my protection?"
I want to use the plugin QuickTime for Firefox, but version 7.1 is blocked, and version 7.2 does not support Windows 2000.
I'm fine with the performer 7.1; the risk is very low, and I'm willing to accept it. Or someone has another solution?
Sorry, I didn't know who was on the red list.
https://Bugzilla.Mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430826#C59
There is a pref which can be changed in all: config to disable blocking. You will also need to delete the existing blocklist.xml and more turn off this preference.
Extensions.blocklist.EnabledI stopped using QuickTime in 2004 or 2005, when I discovered QuickTimeAlternative - installation a lot thinner, and it's not 'catch' all types of multimedia files like QT seemed to do. I didn't have a problem with QuickTimeAlternative being blocked on Windows 2000 up through last summer. This comment of Bugzilla 59 mentioned that 190 QTA worked for him.

Since the upgrade to Firefox 4: 1), I lost my favorites. (((2) if I go into my profile, there is no backups since 21 March (when I upgraded) and if I try to restore my favorites from backups in my profile, nothing happens (although if I look the .json file in textedit, they are clearly there) 3) when I start typing an address, Firefox gives me is more a suggestion of my story 4) (and possibly without) if I browse a site , via a link, I often can't navigate back (the grey towers left arrow). In other words, Firefox loses the story.
This may be due to a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.
