Upgrade to Windows 10 and how might this affect files.

Is it necessary to make a backup of files music, photo and video etc before you try to upgrade to Windows 10, or installation work around them and leave them intact so that they are accessible once the installation is complete, please?

Hi Wayne.

Make a backup! The upgrade should not affect but best to be sure... etc. IT is simply recommended to have a back up when even (I have two external drives usb and cloud storage). Some documents and photos may be gone for good, if you lose!  -Cheers. Ric.

  • Memory - allocation increasing and how does this affect VDI?

Currently, we use a HP DL360 server for our ESX Server.  On this server we use host view connection server, VCenter Server and 20 ESXi Virtual Machines VMWare View.  Both servers run as virtual Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition servers.  Currently the server has 4 GB of ram.  If I increase the physical ram on the server to 16 GB, since I am technically increase it on the ESXi instance, which will help with performance on peacekeeping that my functioning VDI?  Also, I can re - allocate the memory to get out them a little more because of increase it physically on the machine max, or will I run limits (for example, VCS runs on Windows Server 2003, manage the VDIs, it will limit the number of them in 4 GB of total memory?)

    Thanks in advance,

    Ken

Increase the RAM on your ESXi hosts will help.  My concern is that you have "all your eggs in one basket."  VMware View brokers can be very busy and require a lot of resources.  I also understand that if you have a single host server, you are in a situation where you have to run everything under one.

4 GB of physical RAM to accommodate what you are hosting is, in my view, what is causing your performance problems.

You say that you have started from the XP CD, but something is wrong with that
you do. Just boot from the CD and follow the prompts for a
clean install. A new installation by formatting the

    The following versions of Microsoft Outlook are fully supported on Windows 7;

    • Outlook 2003
    • Outlook 2007
    • Outlook 2010 (when it came out)

It is recommended to always update your version of Outlook directly after installation to take care of any question of incompatibility which have been corrected.

  • I want to uninstall the upgrade of windows 7 and go back to Vista.

This device comes preinstalled with Vista so that I only have the recovery disks that I made when I first set up the computer.  How can I uninstall the upgrade of windows 7 and reinstall Vista?

    BogeyB,

If you have made a real upgrade (overlay on Vista), you might be surprised.  Click on the computer and open the D Recovery drive.  Open the folder named Recovery. Look at the bottom left corner.

What is the date of creation?  Mine is from 2007.  I do not superimpose WIN 7 until 2011, but the recovery is still 2007.

It's actually your full version of Vista recovery... it didn't get deleted or altered, except if you did.

  • Upgraded to windows 7 and also a new hard drive

    I have a 2005 HP m7060n Media Center http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00306958 & lang = to & cc = us & taskI... running on XP
I was looking to upgrade to Windows 7 and also install a new drive.  New readers are shipped with windows 7 already preinstalled and when I change the disks, it will start windows 7.
How could I then exchange the old files to the new drive?
What is your solution the best and less expensive?  How do you do this?  Help, please.
    Thank you
    Marco

I suggest that perform you a clone of the hard drive. Seagate drives and WD offer a free version of the wizard disk.

Clone the original 200 GB drive to the new drive.  To avoid problems, has chosen a 1.5 or 1 t T drive. Once you have the clone, just install the upgrade on the new drive. All your data will remain intact, and the intact original of 200 GB drive is secure.

PS > you need a spare sata power and data leads to the clone. Look inside and see what led power is hanging loose. Then I can suggest an adapter or cable. As the DVD is IDE, (not Sata) from what I've read, you will need a Sata data cable also.

  • I try to upgrade to Windows 10 and downloading still failing. I get the following error message: 802400B,.

I try to upgrade to Windows 10 and downloading still failing. I get the following error message: 802400B, which means that it can not read one of the files required to download (update manifest). The recommended windows fix did not work. What should I do? Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

You can try the upgrade manually:

    Task of pre-required

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

  • IM using Windows XP Profesional, can I upgrade to Windows 7 and what would be the cost?

upgrade windows xp to windows 7

IM using windows xp profesional can I upgrade to windows 7 and what would be the cost? what I have to put all my files on an external drive then uninstall windows xp then put in windows 7 then put back my files? is that how its done? Thank you.

First the cost, you must know if your hardware can support Windows 7

In General win 7 should a minimum og 1 gig of ram (for 32 bit) or 2 for 64-bit, and it needs a video card 256 MB or greater.

If your less and can not be updated it may be best to start thinking about a new computer.

If the above is ok there are various offers for win 8, but make sure you buy form a reliable site of Ms.  There are a lot of current scams.

    Good luck
